About the Property
Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4) + 1 bedroom Guest Cottage
Surrounded by woods on three sides and just a 5 minute walk to Lake Michigan and a semi private beach. The cottage has a wood-burning fireplace, central heat, ceiling fans (NO AC), fully equipped kitchen, and full bath. There's a big covered deck and a Weber kettle in the backyard. Large lending library and board games. One bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the other a full-sized bed.
Our 2-bedroom cottage now has a 1-bedroom guest cottage right next door. It can be rented as a stand alone. It has a queen-sized bed in the bedroom and a full-sized fold-out futon couch in the enclosed sun room.
The two cottages are great for family groups of 6-8.
Sorry, no pets. The cottages may not be suitable for children. There is no perimeter fence and no life-guard at the beach. Parents, you will need to be on alert.
We rent the cottages in blocks weekends (4 PM Friday to 11 AM Monday), weeks (4 PM Friday to 11 AM the following Friday) or midweeks (4 PM Monday to 11 AM Friday).
Starting January 1, 2017 we will only be booking weeks (4 PM ET Friday to 11 AM ET the following Friday).
The new layout for VRBO doesn't allow me to make note of that distinction and it's causing havoc with my cleaning crew who have been on that Monday or Friday schedule of 17 years!
'A great place for a personal retreat. Letters were written, books read, art created.' - A satisfied customer.

Why the Owner Chose Fennville, MI, USA:
I fell in love with Glenn, Michigan when visiting a friend. It is a place where time is suspended. The beach goes on forever and at night the Milky Way stretches overhead. My husband, Roger and I like lie on on the deck before the leaves pop out and watch our resident pair of red-tailed hawks wheel overhead. We've seen wild turkey, grouse, pheasants. And yes, Bambi. We see the deer standing on their hind legs to reach the pears on our neighbor's trees. I also love the history of the area. Glenn used to be a stop on the Underground Railroad and that non-judgmental, welcoming attitude survives.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
U-pick! Nothing makes me happier than harvesting fruit and vegetables. From June to October there's always something coming off the farm. I freeze enough berries to get me through the winter. Plus there's farm stands and little stands by the side of the road. I feel like Lady Bountiful coming home and unloading the car. If I want to shop or have a nice dinner out, it's just minutes to Saugatuck. We love doing the gallery openings then having a glass of wine at one of the riverfront restaurants.
