Why Gaylon Emerzian chose Ganges
I fell in love with Glenn, Michigan when visiting a friend. It is a place where time is suspended. The beach goes on forever and at night the Milky Way stretches overhead. My husband, Roger and I like lie on on the deck before the leaves pop out and watch our resident pair of red-tailed hawks wheel overhead. We've seen wild turkey, grouse, pheasants. And yes, Bambi. We see the deer standing on their hind legs to reach the pears on our neighbor's trees. I also love the history of the area. Glenn used to be a stop on the Underground Railroad and that non-judgmental, welcoming attitude survives.
What makes this Cottage unique
U-pick! Nothing makes me happier than harvesting fruit and vegetables. From June to October there's always something ripening at the nearby farms. I freeze enough berries to get me through the winter. Plus there's farm stands and little stands by the side of the road. I feel like Lady Bountiful coming home and unloading the car. If I want to shop or have a nice dinner out, it's just minutes to Saugatuck. We love doing the gallery openings then having a glass of wine at one of the riverfront restaurants.

Nice & Peaceful Location-Cottage Interior Needs Some Tender Loving Care
While the exterior of the cottage was quite charming, the interior could use some tender loving care. The floors were not clean and it could really use a good deep cleaning overall. Plenty of cookware and dishes; the linens provided were not the best (no washcloths); beds were okay. The location was nice with easy access to South Haven and Saugatuck. Owner was easy to work with and quick to reply.
We have rectified the problems and hope that future renters will find their stay comfortable.
Secluded cozy cabin, in the woods near lake Michigan - serenity
My husband and I spent a weekend away from the busy Chicago. We were hoping to find a place away from people and noise, change the pace and enjoy the nature and each other company. This was the perfect place for it. I did not realize at the time of booking that the cabin was exactly what we were looking for. We were staying in a smaller of the two cabins, with one bedroom. It is clean and has everything. Surrounded by the woods, so we woke up to the sounds of rain, birds, crickets (no sirens, wow). Saugatuck, Fennville and other towns are very close - ~15 minutes - are busy (by local standards) and full of good restaurants (measure up to Chicago), wineries, cider breweries etc. We spent time on the semi-private beach, were drinking tea and watching sunset. Imagine a small beach all to yourself (well, maybe with 5-6 more people).
So, if you are looking for some peace and serenity - this is a place for you.
Enjoy. We will be back for sure.
PS. The owner, Gaylon, was very responsive, we got the paperwork, keys and clear instructions and directions.
Such a nice place - cozy, pretty, gorgeous back yard, sweet neighborhood
Just returned from a lovely week here and we loved it. We come up to Saugatuck every summer and this year stayed in Glenn. The house is so so so pretty - just charming and warm. We had two adults and two kids ages 10 and 12 and even they loved it. They particularly loved having a room sufficiently off to the side that we couldn't hear them in the morning. And the house worked terrifically for our needs - the dining table is large; the patio is gorgeous and it was great eating outside; and we really loved walking to town for breakfast or sandwiches at the two places there. Our kids are still ok sharing a bed, and did so, but next year they'll probably reject that and we'll figure out how to make that work if we can - the couch is a fold away bed, which will probably be a fine solution. The walk to the private beach is super pretty - lots of trees and shade and fun houses to admire and wildflowers all over. And the backyard is wonderful - private, green, with woods in the background. It's a wonderfully quiet area too, which was very nice.
The kids have asked to go to this same house next year!
Thank you for a lovely time!!!
Relaxing and Secluded Cottage - Perfect for Family Time!
We had a wonderful time on our vacation here! The cottage was well-maintained and provided everything we needed. The backyard was just big enough for our 2 young kids to run around in, while providing the privacy of a secluded cottage in the woods. We enjoyed the short walk down a wooded dirt road to the lake, and while the Glenn beach was covered with a rocky bottom, it was a short 10-minute drive into Saugatuck and South Haven, which both feature clean and sandy shorelines with playgrounds for the kids. Our host was an excellent communicator and answered all questions we had before booking our stay in a prompt and professional manner. Most importantly, this cottage was the perfect escape and allowed us to focus on spending time together as a family.
Great place. We have a family of 4 that stayed here. Nice to getaway from most of the city life. Great woods surroundings. May come back again.
A Gem of a Cottage!
The location was perfect. To be nestled in a serene, plant filled wooded lot so close to the Lake was an absolute treat. I found the cottage to be perfectly comfortable, clean and stocked with all the basic necessities. It truly made for a relaxing and memorable weekend! I hope to visit again soon!
