Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Leslie,

I'd like to thank you for the great rental on Akers Pond. It rained the whole time we were there, but because we had a nice warm dry house to come home to, we were able to kayak every day. We kayaked to Sturtevant Pond from the Magalloway River, Scott's Bog in the Connecticut lakes region, and finally Leonard's Pond via the Magalloway River. It was fantastic and we saw lots of wild life. We even had a family of otters follow us for a while. It was hilarious. Those otters are quite the characters!

We had such a great time! I hope the house will be available next year, same season.

Thanks again

Beautiful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We were in town for a wedding and needed an affordable place to stay where we could bring our dogs. This was the perfect place! Cozy and comfortable. Great location on a beautiful pond and a great view. Very relaxing. Our dogs love the water so it was perfect for them as well. I would stay here again. Very clean home and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Great place, we loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here recently and had a wonderful time. The property was very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed hiking, canoeing, and had some nice drives. It was definitely home away from home. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a low key relaxing vacation.

Sincerely,

Phil & Jen M.

Love this place

  • 5 of 5

This is our 3rd year of renting this beautiful cottage on Akers Pond for our annual snowmobile trip with family and good friends. We could gear up and head right out onto the trails from the walk out finished basement. Great layout in the cottage - very roomy. Nicely done. The owner replied to our emails quickly and with all the information we needed. Will definitely make this our annual place to stay for our snowmobiling trip to Errol. Trails are awesome.

The BEST Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This place was absolutely perfect. The inside of this house is even more beautiful in person and the view is great, especially with the foliage. The house is spotless. The owner replied to my emails quickly with all of the information that we needed.

We brought our dog and our ATV's .. we weren't able to ride right from the property but there is a parking lot 5 minutes down the road that you could park at. There is a gas station/convenience store 5 minutes away in the opposite direction along with a store with all of the outdoor clothing you would need if you forget to bring something. You can register your ATV there $40/each for a out of state 10 day pass. It was great to be able to ride and not have to worry about getting caught!

We also drove down to Jericho which was about 45 minutes away and parked at Jericho Motorsports and there were even better trails leaving from there. They rent ATV's as well. We're hoping they rent snow mobiles so we can come back in the winter!

Beautiful cabin, location, value.

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful little cabin on nice pond. It is actually a pretty big body of water and could be called a lake. I took the wife up for an ATV trip and to get away for the weekend. I was disappointed with the listing because it says that you can ATV right from the door. I wanted a place we could park the truck and just ride. There is no trail access to the ride the wilds system or 13 mile woods from this cabin. We got there and unloaded the side by side, then took a spin up to Bean road in the truck to find where the trails should have been. We could not find any. A local resident met us on the road and told us that there were no trails back there either. We had to load up the machine back up and ended up having to trailer to the trail system for two days. When we were relaxing late at night it would have been nice to watch cable or satellite, but it was on demand streaming services only. They did have Wi-Fi that we were able to use to watch movies on the laptop. Other than those two issues, it was a really nice, clean, tastefully decorated cabin and has everything you need other than food and drinks. I would highly recommend it, but as I said you cannot access the ride the wilds system directly from here. It is not that big of a deal anyway. Thirteen mile woods trail is pretty rough anyway and you are better to just trailer down to the parking area for the Millsfield club and ride from there.

Exceeded my expectations

I was pleasantly surprised with this rental. It had everything we needed to have a great weekend away from it all. Akers pond was very nice to kayak around. I hope to come back with my family again next year.
