Perfect family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect vacation for our family. I am so glad we ended of choosing this home! We had a few different families with us and the house is big enough that if you want privacy, it is very easy to do. However, there are also multiple family rooms if you wanted to all be together! We were just a few short minutes to Sugarloaf Ski Resort. The house was fairly secluded and not worrying about the mountain "traffic" put our minds at ease. I would say the listing description was right on point! It was very clean, well maintained and we had great customer service with Cheryl Heikkinen (Sugarloaf Rentals & Cleaning Services). She was very informative, quick with responses, and answered our calls no matter what time of day it was. Thanks again for a perfect family vacation. We will be back again!

Great time !

  • 4 of 5

2011 Clark street served as an awesome spot for large group of friends . The appliances all were on point , including the gas fireplace which can be tricky at some houses . The house was clean and more than ready upon arrival . Waking up to the sun in the second floor bedroom was incredible . The multiple hang out areas made it very easy for people to relax in comfort . Ill be back !

Winter school vacation

  • 1 of 5

Everything started out fine. The owner was pleasant and responsive. Upon arrival, I noticed the hot tub cover was off the sauna. Initially thought the owner had removed just prior to arrival...ended up that the high winds had blow it off because it was in the same place the next morning. Winds at night were reported in the 50 mph range. Both straps were torn, put a board on top rest of stay. Mentioned to owner when we left and was accused of lying. Owner thought I should have mentioned it earlier and accused me of not properly securing cover. Maybe I should have mentioned it earlier, but I was busy dealing with a bigger crisis. All of us were bitten by some type of insect the first nights we were there. Informed owner right away and advised the three boys would sleep on floor of living room for remaining days because of infected beds. Requested owner get exterminator when we left. However my wishes were disregarded. While out skiing the owner had house " inspected". When we arrived back we walked into what looked like a robbery. Every bedroom had been tossed, as was the living room.Box springs, mattresses and bed linens were thrown around the rooms. Nothing had been put back together. I contacted the owner and the response was that she would "call them". I spent at least eight hours of my "vacation" washing every piece of clothing and towel in sight, including the owners. I also had to deal with the boys/ mothers who were understandably upset. My request for some type of reimbursement was summarily rejected by the owner. While the owner let us stay an additional night "gratis", that was before she was aware of insect infestation/bites and prior to the request for repayment. The owner said the "extra" night would have cost me more, so we were "square".

Owner's Response: I am responding to this review as the owner of this property. I respect the renter's opinion, but I am compelled to supply my perspective. I have rented this property seasonally and succesfully since 2004. The above review is the one and only negative report. There were renters in one week prior, and one week following the above guest's stay-both clients were pleased. When 'Bolton" called me to report his concerns, I immediately responded by calling a professional pest service since I felt that this required immediate investigation. The company did indeed, dispatch an inspector immediately to the home. I notified the client, and he reported that he and the boys would be skiing and away from the home at that point. The renter is correct in his desciption of the company's inspection process. I had never had any previous contact with a pest service, but I was certainly not anticipating the "inspection service." The report (I have the written copy) from the company stated that NO EVIDENCE of infestation was found after a complete inspection! I did however, contact them to discuss my displeasure regarding the state that the inspectors left the home in! At great expense, and as a precautionary measure, I hired the company to visit the property monthly for surveillance. No evidence was/has been found and the service has been discontinued. I did everything within my power to remedy the (alleged) situation with the assistance of a professional service. Despite the presence of what this client thought was a pest problem, he declined to leave the property; in fact, he asked if he and the boys could stay longer. I readily agreed. It was only after he returned home, that I received the requests for reimbursement. I explained that i could not offer this as 1) his complaint could not be verified 2) he elected to stay in the home 3) his stay was extended. While I am empathetic, the energy and maintenance costs incurred during his stay preclude such an unreasonable transaction. Respectfully submitted, Gail D. Mason
