Well behaved dogs possible, MUST be crated when left alone. This is a great area for pets ! There are hiking trails up on the mountain and a dog-friendly beach a short walk from the main beach. If your dog is well socialized off leash, respectful of woodwork and furniture, and able to rest quietly and comfortably in a fully enclosed dog crate, please contact me about the probability of bringing them along on your vacation!

Another fun and relaxing vacation in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Finished our 6th year at the cabin. Nice to see that Wendy continues to update the cabin every year.

Our kids are older (11, 8 and 6) but still enjoy the beach and look forward to playing with many of the same kids from prior years. We have found this to be a great location for exploring and enjoying the area. The following are some of the other things we did this year. The rodeo less than a mile away. Whitewater rafting the Sacandaga River with Sacandaga Outdoor Center. Dinner, ice cream and view at UpRiver Cafe in Lake Luzerne. A day at Great Escape (every other year). Scenic cruise on Lake George with the Lake George Steamboat Company (we've now been on all 3 of their boats). 2 hour fishing charter with Captain Jeff out of Bolton Landing (Jeff's Lake George Fishing Charters) - 2 hours of large and small mouth bass fishing is perfect for the kids. Road trip to Ben & Jerry's and Cabot Cheese Outlet Store in VT when the kids need some chill time.

Looking forward to more memories at the cabin in the woods. Thanks Wendy for opening your home.

Very happy repeat guests!

As of June, 2017, we have stayed at this cabin a total of 9 times in 7 years, which means we obviously really like the place. We love the cabin: It's clean, cozy, fully furnished and equipped, and has all the necessary conveniences, including a washer and dryer, a dishwasher, and (most importantly) Wifi (a real necessity since cell service, or at least AT&T, which we have, is practically non-existent). We love the immediate area: It's quiet and secluded, down a private dead-end street, but not isolated or remote. We also like the surrounding areas and the close proximity to Lake George and Lake George Village, so there is never a lack of places to drive to or visit. Overall, this is just an all-around great place to get away from it all and relax, which is our main purpose for our trips here. We have been here when it's been very hot and humid. Many times the cabin remains very pleasant and cool, but there are air conditioning units for when they're needed. We have been here when it's been unseasonably cool, and have been thankful there is heat. We have been here when we didn't think the rain would ever stop, but just hanging out in the cabin and reading is a real treat for us. And, when the weather is just perfect, the deck is a great place to sit and relax. We always travel with our two very well-behaved dogs, and they always have a wonderful time at the cabin and “exploring” everywhere else we bring them. While we buy our own groceries for the week, for nights we don’t want to cook (which is usually grilling) we look forward to dinner from The Long Horn Restaurant & Pub, which is really close by. While you can eat there, we always call and order for take-out. The staff is always pleasant, the food is really good, and the prices are reasonable. We look forward to our next (and 10th!) trip to this cabin!

Close to Everything

  • 4 of 5

The property was very close to Lake George and had great access to the places that we wanted to visit during our stay. The owner was great with answering any questions that we had. Our dogs enjoyed the walks that they went on during our stay. Internet worked very well. Very happy with the home and would stay again if we decide to visit Lake George again.
