Stay away unless the Property Manager changes!!!!!

  • 1 of 5

I have never had such a bad experience with a property manager in my life and I have rented a lot from VRBO and otherwise. Let me start by saying that the instructions for the cabin were weak at best. We pointed out in the beginning that a fireplace was the most important part of our trip and we received no instructions and proceeded to make a normal fire like we have for 40 years and the entire cabin filled with smoke. We called Rich from Garnet Realty and he basically laughed and told us he would contact the owner. After another call where he told us to "quite making the fire"...really, really??? I called again and he sent the owner over who proceeded to show us the proper way to make a fire in this specialized fireplace and where the tools were to do so...in the basement. She, by the way, was lovely, and my issues are not with her.

The refrigerator had a gooey gunk on the top shelf that I cleaned and the freezer was filthy. There were cobwebs all over the porch light (not a good 1st impression). The grill would not light and my husband spent 20 minutes changing the tank and fiddling with it before it worked. The dryer did not work (Rich left us a note that he was waiting for a part) but the owner said it has been broken since May. The outside security lights did not work. There were no instructions for the trash except that you better recycle or you would be fined.

The owner apologized for all of the issues and said she would tell the property manager that we should get our money back. I was willing to be reasonable and ask for 1/2 back and he will not answer my emails or my phone calls. Nice way to run a business.

Peace and quiet but extremely close the hustle and action of Lake George!

  • 5 of 5

Full cottage with all the amenities you need to get away from city life and urban society. Yet a few minutes drive to the thrill of outdoor activities provided by Lake George. The owner gives clear instructions on where everything is and how everything operates and even provides an binder of best things to do around the area!

Just what we needed

  • 5 of 5

Our time at the cabin proved to be just what we need. A week of relaxation away from the bustle of the working world. The cabin had enough room to allow five of us to share the space without be too crowded. Rich, the property manager was Johnny-on-the-spot any time we needed anything. Having a dishwasher was a dream come true. The beach was close enough to be convenient, but not so close that we had to worry about the kids heading there on their own. The cabin was clean and well equipped. Faster wifi would have been preferred, but I was able to use it. All in all, a five star property.

Another fun and relaxing vacation in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Finished our 6th year at the cabin. Nice to see that Wendy continues to update the cabin every year.

Our kids are older (11, 8 and 6) but still enjoy the beach and look forward to playing with many of the same kids from prior years. We have found this to be a great location for exploring and enjoying the area. The following are some of the other things we did this year. The rodeo less than a mile away. Whitewater rafting the Sacandaga River with Sacandaga Outdoor Center. Dinner, ice cream and view at UpRiver Cafe in Lake Luzerne. A day at Great Escape (every other year). Scenic cruise on Lake George with the Lake George Steamboat Company (we've now been on all 3 of their boats). 2 hour fishing charter with Captain Jeff out of Bolton Landing (Jeff's Lake George Fishing Charters) - 2 hours of large and small mouth bass fishing is perfect for the kids. Road trip to Ben & Jerry's and Cabot Cheese Outlet Store in VT when the kids need some chill time.

Looking forward to more memories at the cabin in the woods. Thanks Wendy for opening your home.
