Secluded up a private 750 foot driveway on 7 fresh pine acres next to forever-wild protected land with hiking trails right outside the door leading to waterfalls, rock quarries and streams. Just minites to Woodstock, this classic 1920s Cottage includes everything you need for relaxation and fun. Gas grill and fire pit on our bluestone patio, gazebo with daybed for outdoor bug-free relaxation. Simply furnished with folk art and rustic antiques, but up to date and well-stocked cook's kitchen, we do everything possible to make your stay memorably effortless. High speed internet included.

Many of our guests never leave the property, preferring evenings on the patio for mellow star-gazing or parties -- or daytime hikes just outside the doors to moss forest, streams, waterfalls and rock quarry where porcupine make their homes.

Others use the Cottage as home base to enjoy the area's many attractions -- sports, hiking, five-star dining, antiquing, art, theater, and world-class music. Woodstock is just 3 minutes away by car.

Whatever your preference, inhale the pine-scented cool mountain air, and enjoy your stay.

About Marietta

Pete, Jack and I love all that our country house has to offer - great hikes, fresh air, seasonal changes, and lots of great culture in nearby Woodstock and the surrounding area. Pete's an artist and Marietta's a writer and we find endless inspiration just outside the door. Some of our favorite moments have been taking the short hike around our property, kicking around streams, climbing the rock quarry, sitting in the moss forest, collecting nature's treasures.

Marietta purchased this house in 1994

Why Marietta chose Woodstock

We were NYC people looking to move to the country and saw our Woodstock house as the ideal happy medium -- gorgeous setting, charming house with architectural history (Peter has a passion for old buildings), nearby culture and like-minded people, and only 2.5 hours from NYC. We're continually moved by the seasonal moments.

What makes this house unique

Quiet, serenity of nature with little else disturbing us. The sheer beauty of the surrounding pine forest with its grandeur and nuance. The proximity of world-class art, music, and dining just minutes to Woodstock, Saugerties, and Rhinebeck. The opportunity to entertain our friends and family in a beautiful, welcoming place. We always have a great time!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We can't thank you enough for the use of your magical house. We have had a wonderful winter that we will never forget. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Wonderful peaceful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This property is tucked away in the woods- we loved sitting out in the Gazebo, and the cottage was very charming with its carefully curated antiques.

The owner was very responsive to all our questions- thank you!

Lovely home~ Lovely owners!

  • 5 of 5

The home couldn't be lovelier~ Fabulous setting, warm, wonderful interior. I was a bit concerned about the home being on a double yellow line, but based on the reviews of previous renters, decided it was not an issue. And it was not! The home is on a long, wooded driveway and is pin drop quiet (which was important to us). The house itself is truly inviting and very comfortable. Lots of cozy spaces to unwind, read, or just hang out. The home has such an authentic antique flair and we loved that! And Marietta could not be more communicative or pleasant to deal with. Thank you so much~ we will be back!

Enjoyable late fall week

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Marietta's craftsman mountain cottage in Woodstock the week of Thanksgiving. The physical location in proximity to Woodstock is ideal.... it's about an 8 minute drive to downtown. The cottage is surrounded by pine and oak woods. The house itself is charming and comfortable. There were absolutely no problems. We will come again!
