About William Parker
I retired in 1995 and built this property a few years later. I am a fly fisherman and enjoy KY and Barkely Lakes and take my ranger boat out often. One thing I love to do here is have my annual fish fry and music jam sometime in May. We catch our own fish and pot luck the rest. I've been a hunter and the mounts in the lodge reflect some of my treasures.
William Parker purchased this Lodge in 1998
Why William Parker chose Kuttawa
I wanted some place the family could use with or without me. I owned boats and when I gave that up I needed a new hobby. My grandchildren all are in to sports but I could always pull them back to nature when we stayed over at the lake lodge whether it was catching a frog or a lizard, even harmless snakes. We had scavenger hunts, buried treasure finds, caught their first fish, played 'king of the mountain', had campfires, hikes, water bike rides and so much more.
What makes this Lodge unique
It is a 26 acre playground. A 5 acre lake with 2 canoes, a fishing boat, a water bike, a fire pit and tree house that my grandson and I built. I don't know of anything to compare it to. It is close to restaurants and an abundant of attractions. The lakes are just a half mile away for launching a boat and that opens a whole new world.

We had a great time. The cabin, lake, and property was even better than the pictures and the host made sure we had everything we needed to have a great trip. Beautiful private retreat and we will be back, and hopefully have a little better luck with the fish in the lake!
This group was visiting for the golf courses but enjoyed what we have right at the lodge. Makes us happy to know we pleased a guest by providing a wonderful atmosphere and memorable trip without relying solely on activities in the area though there are many. Those fish are there! Come back another time. Thank you for the review.
It exceeded expectation
It is much more than a great cabin, the 26 acres and private lake make a place you don't want to leave.
I am glad your fish fry was a big success with music and all the trimmings and your friends enjoyed the entire loge and setting. Thanks for sharing!
Great place for a family vacation!
Our family truly enjoyed our stay here. The lodge and surrounding lake and grounds are MORE than advertised. We really appreciated the private lake and use of the boats that the owners provided. We spent a lot of time on Parker Lake fishing and boating. Our 4 year old and 2 year old grandchildren had a fantastic time trying all the boats with us, and the rest of us enjoyed the privacy and relaxation that the lodge provided. All the reviews here I have read are accurate and describe the larger points so I want to point out other things that we appreciated: the great sleep we had on the quality mattresses on the bed; the well equipped kitchen with everything we needed to prepare meals; the space at the entrance to leave muddy shoes and wet towels; the grill and picnic area; the campfire spot; shade everywhere in the hot weather. My daugther-in-law said it was like staying with good friends, not just a vacation rental. We hope to be back as many times as possible.
Thank you for recognizing the "little" things that we have for your comfort. We are constantly trying to make an effort to provide that which we expect when visiting another property. We have learned to provide bath size soap, not over night hotel size, coffee filters are always available and are the size that fits our pots. We also have a Keurig for that one cup after dinner or in the afternoon. We furnish adequate bath towels and kitchen towels, a paper towel holder (LOL), and try extremely hard to have the fully furnished kitchen in good order. No one enjoys a kitchen that everything is in complete disarray. This can depend on our last guest to a great extent and for the most part, we have had awesome renters that are respectful of the next guest and put things back where they found them. Thank you! Our cleaners cannot do this time consuming task every time they clean with a six hour time frame. I personally recapture the kitchen at least twice a year and mini organize more often. Owners have to visit their vacation home often to recognize what is needed. We constantly replace light bulbs and our T.V.s work! I love a nice bed and would offer our guests no less. We believe in outdoor comfort and necessary toys to keep everyone entertained during your stay. We absolutely love our many return visitors and what a compliment that is!! Bill and Jane Ann Parker.
My parents 50th!!
I just do not know where to begin! I was looking for an extra special place to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. This was so unexpected, it was all I was looking for and more! The lodge and property, is just amazingly beautiful, it is hard to imagine that someone who has put so much of themselves into a place like this would be willing to share it with anyone, but thank you a million times! My parents and our family had the most amazing week! We love the outdoors, and have fishing boats, and had intended to spend quite a bit of time on Lakes Barkley and Kentucky. We did go a couple of days, but found there was so much to do right at Parker Lake, and the surrounding area that we enjoyed just being there! We spent an afternoon in the Land Between the Lakes, and all the little towns and shops along the way! We spent hours at the little antique mall the Parkers suggested, and found all sorts of treasures! We caught bass and bluegill and enjoyed them with steaks on the grill, and just enjoyed each other while playing games at the big table! The boys swam, kayaked and enjoyed the trails, and the older folks enjoyed the peace, and beautiful views! We were so pleased and our parents overjoyed! We are just in love with this property! Again, thanks so much to the Parkers for their hospitality, and the chance to enjoy such an amazing home! We would very much like to visit again!
Dear Guest, I will not use your name out of respect for your privacy but I know who stayed at the "Ultimate Getaway" and celebrated your parents fabulous 5oth Wedding Anniversary.Congratulations again and we are touched you selected us as your destination. I want you to know that the sweet comments are appreciated and the manner in which you left the lodge is VERY appreciated. We strive to maintain it but it can be a challenge when one family leaves and another is coming the same day. So thank you for that! Especially glad you liked the antique mall, the owners are nice and keep it so clean and organized, so many treasures.... even found some that are in the lodge. The lakes are awesome to boat on and the fishing usually good as you found out. Land Between the lakes is a wonderful day trip. Please come back as I always honor your original contract price. Remind me you are returning even if it is five years and we had a slight increase, it won't apply to you.
P.S. I don't know if you brought little children but just yesterday we brought in new sand for the small beach where toddlers play.
Thanks again, Jane Parker
Absolutely Wonderful Spot
I almost hate writing this review because the next time I want it, it may not be available. This was our second stay at the lodge and it is awesome. I can't say enough about this home. All amenities are available and there is room for everyone. It's very private yet you are close to stores, restaurants, Land Between the Lakes. The lake, frog pond, hiking trails, tree house, bonfire area were all used and very much enjoyed. We ranged in age from 65 to 6 and there is something for everyone. And the 'toys', kayak, canoe, fishing boat, water bike and sail board are such a nice addition. There were 12 of us, and we all had the best time. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Parker for the use of your fabulous home. We will be back again. I give this place a 20 out of 10!!
Tears in my eyes....your family loves it like our family does. Had my 13 year old grandson to lunch with his friend yesterday and he was telling him all about it and invited him to go with him sometime. He was so proud of everything it does offer and I enjoyed hearing it described in his words. I hope yours went to their friends and did the same. Wonderful memories and life time experiences. We love hearing you brag on all there is to do so we know you utilized every inch!! And so right that there is something for everyone even if grandma is 85 and sits on the screened in porch listening to nature or the sounds of her grandchildren laughing on the lake. She can even see them from there. Please come back and we try hard to accommodate our returns and we have several....some every year...some more than once in a year and some every other year. We have two musical groups that come together with friends from different places to play and even record. The feature that they love is just the setting that is so comforting as they take in the ambiance of the lodge and view, each other and their music. Thank you for this lovely review and p.s. if you remind me you are a return, we never raise the price. But we have only gone up once in five years anyway and it was minimal. Our goal is to be able to maintain it and add fun things for us all to enjoy. If the good Lord is willing and you bless us with your comments, we should be able to let it provide awesome vacations for years to come.
Peaceful, Private, and Enjoyable!!
This property and home are so VERY pretty and peaceful. We loved staying in a private setting where we could enjoy a restful vacation. We cooked almost all our meals at the lodge using the cooking utensils, pans, dishes provided. We loved the dining area and screened in porch, both with the lake view. The owners were very responsive to our questions during our visit. We recommend this property and would stay here again given the opportunity.
It is always a pleasure to assist our guests in fully enjoying our lodge, lake and private property. There is also a great deal to explore around the area with two large public lakes,
golf courses, wineries, horseback riding and many good restaurants. BUT if it is peace, quiet, nature enjoyment, and privacy you prefer, than we have that right there at the lodge. Often guests tell us they never left during their stay. Sitting on the screened-in-porch is a treat just by listening to the "sounds of nature", plus from there.... you can see the activity of the "children of all ages"..... playing at the lake.
We appreciate comments and suggestions for improvement and love guests who come every year!!
Thank you for visiting us and please come back.
For the nature lover, hike the trails around the lake or to the frog pond. Climb a tree before a game of horse shoes on the levee or a scavenger hunt in the woods. Pets are welcome outdoors only and that is where they want to be. A 6x8 kennel is convenient for their safety when you leave the property and for sleeping in the dog house.
Other Activities: Boating, mini golf, shopping, kayaking, wildlife viewing, horseshoes
