There has never been a better time that to visit Sebastopol. Sebastopol has the exuberant charm of an old fashioned farming town. Thanks to Russian trappers, who first planted the Gravenstein apple in the 1800s, it became known as the Gravenstein capital of the world. But times change and beginning in the late 60s to the present time, apples continue to give way to grapes, particularly Burgundy varietals. Since the mid 1990s, Sebastopol has become a “new theater for wine grapes…first in blends, then in vineyard-designated wines.” (S.F Chronicle, 8.29.2008). Home ranches for some of the most notable wineries are located in and around Sebastopol.
The house is located at the gateway to the Russian River and Sonoma Coast wine regions of Sonoma County, CA. The picturesque town of Healdsburg is just 25 miles to the north with its world-class shopping, ambiance, and restaurants.
You enter the property from the road through a coded gate and proceed up a long driveway where the house is situated amid 100 acres of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris vineyards. It is part of a working ranch so farming activity may be present from time to time. While close to vibrant towns and farmers markets, the property itself is quietly isolated from city lights and noise, where each visitor can relax and find their own spot in the peace and privacy of your own country home, and get used to the sounds of silence at night. The house is light and airy, with hardwood floors throughout, a modern kitchen & amenities, gourmet cookware, two full baths, and granite countertops in both the kitchen and bathrooms. The house has Wi-Fi and there is a 49" LG HDTV w/ sound bar with Direct TV satellite service. Outside there is a patio covered with a trellis of Wisteria, and a Dimension spa on the deck, a perfect spot to see the Big Dipper in the night sky.
Sebastopol and the surrounding area is rich in artisan farms including organic, biodynamic, and sustainably farmed products, which include livestock, poultry, row crops, tree fruits, cheeses, micro dairies, and artisanal breads and olive oils. In addition to the garden-fresh foods that abound in the area, dozens of award-winning wineries are nearby or an easy, bucolic, and uncongested drive through the Sonoma Coast and along the Russian River, through Dry Creek Valley, and the Alexander Valley just outside Healdsburg. Country markets in Sebastopol, Healdsburg, Occidental, and Santa Rosa introduce visitors to the variety of micro producers so prominent in the area.
The house provides solitude in an environment of innovative but accessible foods, world-class winemaking and viticulture, and an outdoor paradise of hiking, biking, or strolling.

David was a pleasure to work with from the start and when my family of 6 arrived I was very pleased with everything too the end. Home was was lite with all the sky light windows. The vineyards were everything I imagined and a bonus was the apple trees. The guests book provided was very informative and we appreciate the maps left to use as well. The house was fresh and clean and a pleasure to have shared my wine county visit in this comfortable, inviting home.
3 bedrooms with kings sizes beds, so comfortable to sleep in, we didn't bring children but they had a pack and play, high chair with kids toys. The amenities provided were touch notch to included everything like a full linen closest with enough linens for 10 people, although it only sleeps 6,. The kitchen had a spice rack, all necessary kitchen tools, plate ware of all types. Made it easy for a good meal.
I would highly recommend this property with the added features like a hot tub that fit everyone, free wifi and staying in a vineyard that you can walk through.
Thanks for your help on making our wine country experience one to remember for a lifetime.
The owner is very responsive (always responds to emails within the day). He sent emails with many suggestions for dinner (all price ranges), favorite wineries, shopping.
We were a group of 4 women, and had plenty of room & privacy. This home is spacious, clean and comfortable. My personal pleasure was the super silky, soft sheets.
We enjoyed the hot tube on a clear, cool nite with shooting stars and the Milky Way overhead. Perfect location. Close enough to visit many wineries, yet, remote enough to enjoy the peaceful winery it sits in. We enjoyed cocktails, on the patio (complete with the friendly neighborhood cat and dog!!).
Would definitely return.
The owner is a great communicator!
The house is exceptionally comfortable and spacious. The view is beautiful. Completely equipped - everything you could imagine is right there. The bedrooms are large, the beds are comfortable. We were 4 adults and an infant. The house allows for togetherness, and privacy and well sound proofed.
I would stay here anytime I was in Sonoma County!
This home was perfect for two couples to explore the wine country together. It was spacious and had all the amenities we needed. Beds were very comfortable. Having access to a washer and dryer was also very helpful. The home was very peaceful and quiet. We absolutely loved morning walks through the vineyards and beautiful views from the property. The only downside was that it was a little warm the day we arrived (outdoor temperatures in the 90s) because of lack of air conditioning. However, once the sun went down and we opened the windows, it cooled down nicely. The owner was very helpful and responsive. We would definitely consider staying here again for our next visit to the wine country.
Six of us stayed at this house. Large spacious bedrooms with king beds, closets. Big well equipped kitchen, dining and family rooms. A lot of natural light everywhere from patio doors, large windows, skylights. Very nice and large outside deck. There even a office room with a desk and a single bed.
Clean, quiet and well maintained house. The owner, David, is very responsive.
I am a Pinot Noir wine writer and have stayed at a number of properties in Sonoma County over the years, and I must say this was my favorite. The house is nestled among vineyards, with well-kept landscaping, an outdoor spa and patio with BBQ, well-equipped kitchen, large dining table for 8, cozy family room and living room, spacious bedrooms with very comfortable king beds, and modern bathrooms. The owner is very responsive and keeps the property clean and well-maintained.
