Have you ever done online dating...Where you see this person online that you are attracted to based on their pictures and characteristics and attributes and then you meet in person for the first time and your like - is this the same person you saw online? Or maybe that is the same person but from like 10-years ago.
Well that is this house...super beautiful and attractive online with amazing amenities and then you pull up to the driveway and have to pull out your phone to compare address to whats on your paperwork and compare the photos to real life to are you in the right location.
It didn't feel like a luxurious home away for a long weekend. Instead it felt like being at nani and papi's house for the weekend.
1.) Huge house
2.) Great location
1.) Hot tub out of commission - appeared it's been decommissioned previous to the winter but owner still listed it as a viable amenity.
2.) Outside grill - dirty and old - not kept well
3.) Kitchen - grimy and dated
4.) Furniture - all furniture dated, stained, and grimy (and we have dogs)
5.) Master bedroom bed - cheap and uncomfortable.
I could go on and on but I am sure you get the gist.
It appears as though the house is for sale but overpriced and is on vrbo to supplement income or keep the house alive.
Dear Cara Vera
I m sorry that the home did not live up to your standards.
I agree that the Hot Tub was de- commissioned for the winter.
It is difficult to keep every point of reference up to date.
When you informed me that the grill was not "up to snuff" I had the house keeper come over to clean same. She was inforrmed that it was not necessary because you had care of it.
I beg to differ that the kitchen is date. It includes the state of the art appliances - Two side by side refrigerators, Double drawer Fisher Paykel Dishwasher, Jen-air Five burner Stove Top, Two Sinks - a farmers sink and a stainless steel sink, two insinkerator garbage disposals, granite counter tops. The custom cabinets were recently painter, etc, etc
The un-confortable bed that you complained about was the most expensive mattress that Jordan's Furniture had to offer.
Furniture was from both Jordan's and Bernie and Phyls.
Perhaps we should not allow people to bring their dogs.
It is a bit concerning that the previous 33 comments have all been praises.
Rememeber we can not control the weather. As I recall it was a stormy week-end
Thank you for your comments.
I will review again to see what we can improve.
Great girls weekend!!
Great girls weekend location. Ralph was accommodating and very easy to work with. House was spacious, relaxing and we enjoyed our stay.
Wonderful Thanksgiving Getaway!
The Island House was a great venue for our family's Thanksgiving celebration! The kitchen was well equiped for preparing Thanksgiving dinner for 12 people and the view from the property was well worth it. Ralph was a kind host and made sure all our needs were attended to before we arrived. I would highly recommend this property if you are looking for a relaxing family gathering!
Ocean House was great for our group. Beautiful views of the water, easy walk into Perkins Cove. A great place to relax and enjoy the Maine Coast.
Outstanding Family Vacation
The Island House could not have been more perfect for our family vacation celebrating our parents 50th wedding anniversary. We traveled with 8 adults and 5 children (ages 11, 10, 8, 8, and 4 months). The house is very well kept and super comfortable. Plenty of bedroom space with comfortable beds and relaxing surroundings. The kitchen is well-equipped and easy to have multiple people working in with multiple work stations, two sinks, two dishwashers, and a large dining table. The views from every room and the porch off the back were amazing, as were the sounds! The beach is easily accessible and we would come and go multiple times a day with ease. Perkins Cove restaurants and shops are just steps away. It's amazing! The grandparents could easily take short excursions with the children for many wonderful outings. My mom has mobility issues and used a motorized scooter to get around and she did so with ease. We have been renting house for over 11 years and this by far was the best we have stayed in. I also should mention that the owner Ralph is very accommodating and responsive. We had one small issue upon arrival and he called us from out of the country within minutes of my email, and a handyman was at the door within hours. It is obvious that Ralph truly strives to create a memorable experience for his renters.
I wish I could give this 100 stars
We hosted our wedding here and I can't get over how amazing it was. We booked it on a snowy day in March and of course I wanted to see the house before renting. Ralph, the owner asked the color of our wedding and would plant flowers to match. I can't put into words how amazing the week was. The view from the master bedroom waterfront beautiful. There is nothing more peaceful then sitting in the back yard and listening to the fishing boats come in and out. Great host and great place.
The Island House is located in a small gated community at the very end of quaint Perkins Cove. Although adjacent to Perkins Cove it is buffered by award winning garden, Enjoy the proximity. Walking distance to six delicious restaurants, three cafes, candy store for the kids, beaches, the marginal way, shopping, arts & crafts shops, art galleries, clothing boutiques, charter fishing, sailing, boating, moon lit cruises. No need to drive. No need for a designated driver.
Golf: There are golf courses open to the public just a few miles from the Island House. Also the Par 3 at Merriland Farms. Eat fresh blueberries between holes. Great fun for the family. Kids love out performing their parents.
