Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Our guest cabin is right on the water; our two private boat slips are below. We're on the south shore of Colorado's largest natural lake, Grand Lake, and this makes for a perfect lakefront getaway. The original headwaters of the Colorado River, it's all downstream from here. And, at 8367 feet of elevation, you can really say it's a Rocky Mountain High. Breathtaking views of the lake and the Never Summer Range on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park are the background at meal time.

The National Park and miles of trails begin right out the back door of the cabin. You can fish right off the dock or the deck. Bring your boat and tie up at our shared dock and then tour both Grand Lake and adjoining Shadow Mountain Reservoir. There are many good restaurants nearby and, afterwords, you can enjoy an evening at our live summer theater, Rocky Mountain Repertory, or fun with the kids at put put golf.

We're the west gateway to the park and lots of early morning or just before sunset animal viewing - elk, moose are most common.

For you GPS fans, the coordinates are: Lat: 40.14.16 N; Lon. 105.48.43W or go to maps.google and use 1385 Jerico Rd. Grand Lake, CO 80447 as destination (Google stops short, we're actually at the end of the road.) See you soon!

About The Owner

I'm a retired Delta Airlines pilot, and have enjoyed Grand Lake for over 30 years. Currently working on preserving water clarity at the lake with Greater Grand Lake Shoreline Assoc. We spend 6 mos. at Grand Lake, and 6 mos. in Denver

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1980

Why The Owner chose Northwest

From the time I first went to a high mountain lake, I said one day I'll have a cabin on a high mountain lake with the National Park right behind me. It took quite a while, but I finally found the perfect spot at Grand Lake. The cabin is at the end of the road which only goes half way along the south shore. Rocky Mountain National Park is a couple hundred feet behind the cabin and we're right on the water with a spectacular view of the Never Summer Range on the west side of the park.

What makes this cabin unique

The south shore drops off quickly and the lake is 267 feet deep; you can fish right off the dock. Water skiing, sailing, canoeing and every other thing you might think to do on the water. Wild life including deer, elk, moose, fox, still think it's their place. The East Inlet trail head is just a 20 min. walk out the back door. You can also simply sit back and take it all in; the peacefulness surrounds you.

Amazing place to stay!!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a wonderful week at the boat house. It was everything we thought it should be and more. The location is unbeatable...quiet and removed from the hustle and bustle of town with amazing views and every bit of recreational activity right out the door. We have every intention of making this a yearly trip and coming back to stay each summer. The two (small) things I would note here: the wifi comes from the owner's cabin next door and we found it totally unreliable so don't count on it (but you're probably not booking this place based on availability of wifi). Also, there is a note inside that the tap water comes from the lake and while they take multiple measures to purify it, they don't guarantee its safety. I would guess that the water is safe to drink but you should know this beforehand if you want to bring bottled water so you don't have to go back out to get it. Other than these two small points, we couldn't have had a better stay and can't wait to come back next summer!!

LOVE this place

We loved being at this charming boat house! Clean, well-stocked, and the owner was so responsive and helpful. You really feel like you are ON the water (you are!)!

We WILL be back.

Outdoor Serenity

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our two boys stayed here last summer; I have been dreaming about it since. My 6 year old is an obsessed fisherman and my 4 year old is very athletic and energetic, he doesn't stop moving unless he is asleep but he loves to hike. I hiked the trail from the cabin with my younger son every morning. My older son fished off the dock with Dad. We had ice cream and saw a great play in town, kayaked and boated around the lake and used the BBQ to grill steak in the evenings. It was amazing and this cabin is what you need to be out of the way, in nature with all the necessary comforts.

Wonderful location with great views

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had needlessly put off visiting Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park because of the lacking of lodging within the park. This boathouse more than made up for that shortcoming. We loved being right on the lake and yet away from the crowds. It was great to come "home" after hiking or kayaking, sit on the deck with a glass of wine and watch the evening thunderstorms off in the mountains and the ospreys fishing in the lake. The view from the dining table is better than from any restaurant in town. The cabin is very clean, comfortable and well equipped - just perfect for us. The owner was great to work with as well. Very highly recommended.

Excellent Location, Amazing views!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first vacation with our 1yr old and this was a perfect place to stay. All the necessary things were already there. We didn't have to leave our cozy cabin to enjoy great views of the Grand Lake and snow-capped mountains. A private hike starting from the property itself was great too..Owners were very kind and even gave us a boat tour of the Grand Lake.

We would certainly recommend this cabin!
