Overview

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-5)

We want your visit to leave you feeling like you have a home away from home - so we pay extra attention to the 'small stuff'. Our cabin is a rustic mountain cabin that is comfortably furnished. The cozy loft has a queen size lodge pole pine bed, tv and small sitting area. The down stairs has an open floor plan, vaulted ceilings, lots of windows, tv, and a river rock backdrop for the wood burning stove.

The kitchen is fully furnished with all the amenities we can imagine you might need. The living room has a futon sofa and futon chair providing comfort not only for watching tv but also additional sleeping options.

The cabin has a wonderful feeling of seclusion & privacy. Surrounded by nature, perched on the hillside with its wraparound deck you feel like you are in a treehouse. While you lounge on the deck you can enjoy watching your four legged friends chase the squirrels.

After a day of watching the antics of the local wildlife you can grill dinner and enjoy it on the deck as you watch the sunset. Follow this with a soak in the hot tub while star gazing, and surely your cares will melt away.

Charming Idyllwild is a short, scenic 5 minute drive from the cabin. There you will find many shopping opportunities and various international cuisine options. Our favorite is Cafe Aroma. While in town make sure you check out the many acclaimed art galleries.

Let the granite out cropping named Taquitz by the local Indians of Idyllwild's past lure you into its shadow and move you with its ancient lore. You can also take advantage of the many hiking and mountain biking trails in the area or just kick back and catch a movie at the Rustic Theatre.

Idyllwild is home to the reknown Idyllwild Arts Academy, Jazz Fest, Lemon Lilly Festival, and the annual Memorial Day weekend town wide garage sales.

About Cathie

We are both psychotherapists. We understand from a personal and professional level the importance of self care and for us that comes from communing with nature. Living in the city life can get pretty stressful but in a short hour and a half drive we can be walking with our jack russell in the mountains. We know the importance of being able to travel with your pets. We don't go many places without ours so we offer that to our guests.

Cathie purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Cathie chose Idyllwild

And as for the town of Idyllwild - there is no other like it. It's a gem that has escaped the crowds of Big Bear and Arrowhead. It is so accessible to L.A. and San Diego yet feels like another universe. We're amazed that it is so 'unknown'. John Muir was quoted as saying 'The view from San Jacinto is the most sublime speptical to be found anywhere on this earth.'

What makes this cabin unique

We bought the very first property we looked at. There was no reason to look any further! As our spa guy says 'I service many of the properties up here and there is just no view like yours!' Both the view and the seclusion are unrivaled! The property is at the end of a small side road with only 4 cabins on it. A short hike puts you at the edge of the National Forest and lots of secluded hiking opportunities. We love taking our pooch to run the nearby trails. We find that the privacy and stellar views make the 5 minute drive to town more than worth it!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I’m so glad my mom’s brought me here! I had never seen a squirrel before! I hope they bring me back soon.

Awesome time away.

Cabin is at top of hill so we felt alone. Snowed in too. Jacuzzi was very nice at night even though it was 30 degrees. Definitely recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • 4 of 5

Had a very relaxing time. Sunsets were beautiful, thank you for all the cabin instructions. Didn't have any problems. I liked your clever bird feeders so other critters can't get the seed. Getting to the upstairs loft was a little scary but we managed. Be careful parking near the water meters you can bottom out with a low carriage car. Overall a beautiful cabin with very heart warming touches. Very welcoming, nicely done. Enjoyed visiting nearby Idyllwild. Thank you.

Quiet and Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was very rustic, but comfortable. It's at the top of a hill with great views from the deck. There is, however, a fenced in satellite and water facility above the cabin. We had trucks visiting the facility twice a day, but you can't really hear or see them once they're inside the fence. There is a light that shines from the facility into the living area if you are sleeping on the futon. There are no curtains to block out the light or the sun.

We absolutely loved sitting on the deck enjoying our meals. I wanted to use the umbrella on the table, but it was broken. The birds don't really bother you, as they have their own feeders. It was nice to look at the different types of birds coming to feed. The hot tub was nice to sit in at night and enjoy the beautiful stars.

The gravel driveway is odd to maneuver. The water meter is right in the middle, the gravel slides and there is a deep rut to go over. Also, because of the facility, the driveway has a tight turn to manage so you don't hit the trees or the water meter.

The inside of the cabin was satisfactory. It had everything we needed. There were way too many moths. We killed a bunch, but I'm not sure where they were getting in? It was unpleasant to have any kind of lights on in the cabin, as this did attract them. Even in the shower/bathroom.

The pull down stairs to the loft bedroom were stable, but you had to hold on to the rafters for balance. We left them down while we were there, because we found it a pain to put them away each time. Therefore, a nuisance walking around or under them.

One thing I cannot understand is having to bring my own linens and towels, but still pay the cleaning fee?

We hiked near the property and watched the sunsets in front of the water facility on the huge boulders with a glass of wine. Awesome! We also went to the new brewery and Ferro's in town. They were both fantastic!

All in all, Cathie was good to deal with. I would stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for reviewing our cabin. We apologize for the moths. They migrate this time of year and it's impossible to keep them out as they sneak in every time the door is opened. Also for the broken umbrella. We had not been made aware by our housekeeping staff that it was broken. We're glad you enjoyed your stay in spite of the inconveniences you mentioned. Nancy & Cathie Stellar Summit Cabin.

lovely and secluded

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cabin, secluded and with a lovely hot tub for night time relaxation and star gazing.

The only issue to be wary of is a steep access stair to the second floor bedroom. This could be an issue for older individuals and people with physical limitations

Perfect private cabin

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our stay over the weekend. Cozy cabin on a private street. The storm the week prior brought lots of snow we enjoyed. Sledding down the hills on the property was a blast. After snowplay we hung out in the hot tub. Perfect weekend getaway.
