About The Owner

Gone Catchin is owned by Randy and Betsy Holder and Clint and Helen Johnson. The Holders have been coming to the Cape since 1981 and the Johnsons first visit was in 1993.We have been friends since Jr. High School. We bought Gone Catchin and have had a great time putting our personal touches on our place. We love sharing our place with our kids and grandchildren and also granddogs! Our hobbies include fishing(lots),knitting, art work, reading, gardening(we have fresh herbs planted at the Cape for your enjoyment.)

The Owner purchased this house in 1997

Why The Owner chose Florida Main North West

Love the old Florida feel of the Cape. The minute you arrive, you can feel yourself relaxing! Nature is abundant on the Cape. You can watch the porpoises playing and might catch site of a bald eagle overhead! The shelling is great and in the summer time the blue crab and scallops are there for the catching.

What makes this house unique

We have made Gone Catchin very comfortable. Plenty of sitting room in the living room. We all love to cook, so the kitchen is very well stocked.Love to walk on the beach and love shellin.

The bike trails are great. We all love to fish and have put in a granite cleaning station outside. The porch is great to sit and relax--reading a good book and listening to the ocean. If you enjoy music, we have surround sound.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The best vacation ever! So relaxing, so much to catch up on.

I read a book I've been trying to read for 3 months.Yes, I flew a kite for the first time in about 5 years. The house is so comfortable. I thought that I was at home. The beach is beautiful and the weather has been perfect. Hope we can come back for another. We loved it here!

Great place to stay. Great owners and managers!

  • 5 of 5

We have been visiting the cape for several years and have stayed in many different houses. Gone Catchin is a great option for a small family. We stayed with our two kids (8 and 11) and had plenty of room. The kitchen is well stocked and the family room has plenty of seating. While I would love to see a king bed in one of the rooms in the future, the 2 queens fit our needs. The house is updated for the most part and has everything you need to be comfortable.

The beach is super close - we have stayed at the oceanfront house in front of Gone Catchin and it really is only a few additional steps to the beach. Helen, the owner, was easy to work with and very responsive. We only had to call the management company once for a broken AC fan, but they were extremely quick to respond and could not have been nicer.

We absolutely loved our stay and have already booked next year.

Perfect for our Spring Break trip

  • 5 of 5

Helen was a dream to work with, and the house was phenomenal. It was clean, well-stocked, comfortably laid back, pet friendly.....the list goes on. The screened in porch is perfect; while not directly on the beach (the boardwalk is directly across the "street" - which is a driveway, really)it provides the sights and sounds that everyone likes at the beach. Directly across from the neighborhood entrance is a kayak, boat, bike rental place and has the best rates on the Cape. A short walk takes you to get ice cream, groceries, access to the bike path, etc. The beach wasn't as wide as it is on some areas, but that wasn't a real problem because it wasn't that crowded while we were there and if you get there early in the day, you can set up your "spot." The pet friendly house was great since we can't go anywhere without our would never know it was a pet friendly house by the way it was so clean. Sharp knives, nice kitchen appliances, books, beach toys...this is the perfect place for a family of 4.

Wonderful Vacation Choice

  • 5 of 5

Can't say enough about Gone Catch'n, owner Helen, rental mgr. Elizabeth and Cape San Blas.

We were looking for a pet-friendly area to take our dog for her first beach experience. We made the perfect choice with this rental. The house was very well maintained, clean and comfortable. While not directly on the beach, there is a clear view of the Gulf from their beautiful screened-in porch. It is a very short path down a nicely constructed walkway to a gorgeous beach. Weather permitting, the sunsets are stunning over the Gulf. My husband enjoyed fishing and pulled up some of the biggest Sheepshead he ever caught off the surf. Our dog loved the water and meeting new friends on the beach. I was apprehensive at first, but the other dog owners were very respectful of the area, picking up after their pets, asking permission to introduce their dogs, etc.

We had intended to stay for one week but ended up loving it so much we stayed two. Highly recommended. Couldn't think of anything that was missing or wish I had brought down that wasn't available except a third week! Thanks Helen for a memorable vacation!

Gone Catchin was the perfect getaway place to stay. Helen's home is AMAZING. We received a welcome call from her upon arrival. Her home is full of wonderful decorative touches. From the whimsical cabinet door knobs to the the wall hanging of the seamens knots. The screened in deck porch with a view of the ocean was wonderful and a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee, eat lunch and drink a glass of wine. This trip was a much needed time for rest and relaxation and Gone Catchin provided that space for us. As an add on to this review, dogs are welcome. Chiclet and Juju got to enjoy daily walks on the beach, a first for them and meet new friends. Thank you Helen for sharing your home with us.

great december getaway at the beach

  • 5 of 5

My wife, her cousin, Gabby the rescued greyhound and I enjoyed a wonderful 10 day stay at "Gone Catchin". The pictures, descriptions and reviews were very accurate. The beds and furniture were very comfortable, the bathrooms had just been updated, and we had great weather. The screened-in porch was our favorite part of the place. Great views of the sunset and water, just steps to the uncrowded beach, and the bike path were also nice. We would definitely stay there again!!

A hidden Gem !!!!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our first stay at the Cape, and honeymoon. One of the best trips to the beach I have every had. The home had everything we needed, plus great views and a wonderful screened in porch. I could not recommend this location enough. We even received a welcome call our first night from Helen, and I have never had that happen. Will definitely be bringing the entire family back.
