About Pat McShane

We have been fans of Bainbridge Island for a very long time and when the opportunity to acquire this home arose, we couldn't resist. We have spent over three decades managing award winning hotels and saw this house as a great chance to blend our professional experience with a love for the island.

Both of us are avid cyclists, and kayakers which are some of the many outdoor activities that you can enjoy on Bainbridge.

We hope you have the opportunity to stay with us and enjoy all that our location has to offer.

Pat McShane purchased this house in 2012

Why Pat McShane chose Puget Sound North

We fell in love with this house because of the stunning view of Seattle and Puget Sound from every room in the house. The other advantages are its low traffic south island location, great cycling, kayaking, diving and wonderful light filled rooms.

What makes this house unique

This is a great house for activities such as sipping coffee while watching the sun come up over Seattle and the cascades, sitting on the beach with a campfire or just walking the dog to Halls Hill Overlook.

For those wanting more physical activities the south island location is convenient to cycling over to Lynnwood for a morning pastry, jumping on one of the hiking trails close by or kayaking to Blakely harbor.

Rockaway Review

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Rockaway home July 11-18 ,2017 and it was everything we had hoped for. The setting is excellent.Close enough to town to have easy access to all Winslow offers, but distant enough to feel we were living at the beach. There is a large Masterbedroom that is very comfortable and a queen bed in the loft,on the second floor. Ample washroom and laundry facilities. The owners have tried to,anticipate the needs of their guestsmandmthe property is very well supplied.

And then there are the views. The ocean and mountain views are spectacular.A very special place. The only concern that one might have is to note that if you have young children, there is a fairly large opening at the stairwell on the second floor so you have to keep an eye on the kids to make certain there are no mishaps.

All in all, an excellent vacation property and excellent hosts.

Great house with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

This was the first vacation that everyone in the family said they wanted to come back. The house was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The view and fire pit near the water were a great way to end each day.

The kayaks were a great way to explore the island and bays nearby. I would highly recommend going to BIO D in Lynwood and renting a paddle board as well. They delivered and picked it up the next day for $75.

Beautiful View / Great Access to Seattle

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week long stay in this home on Bainbridge Island. The view of the Puget Sound and Seattle is breathtaking. Every evening, we looked forward to reading and just looking out over the lights of the city.

Bainbridge's cute downtown with great coffee shops and shopping is 10-15 minutes from the home. The ferry ride from downtown to Seattle is about 30 minutes and very enjoyable. From the ferry we were able to walk to a variety to sites including the Space Needle, Chihuly Gardens, and to Safeco field to see the Mariner's play (it is a beautiful ballpark).

Our kids loved being right on the beach, collecting shells, making Smores in the firepit, and exploring the tidepools. It was magical for them. We also explored the island's trails at Grand Forest East and Grand Forest West, which were great for walking and trail running.

We had considered staying in downtown Seattle when booking this trip, but I am so glad that we decided to stay in this home. So many wonderful memories were made here!

Fantastic views and comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

Hearing the waves at night is something we will miss! House is stocked of much that you will need with comfortable beds and fluffy towels. More enough than towels/pillows with extras to spare. We had 2 kids 11 and 8 with us and we all loved exploring the beach with all the many sea life: anemones, snails and crabs. Having tide pools right in your backyard was such a fun experience. We also saw pods of dolphins, sea lions swim past our windows. The views from house are superb, great stay!

We loved our stay at this house. The layout of the home was fabulous and honestly...the master bedroom had the most comfortable bed we have EVER slept in. The views are gorgeous and we were so fortunate to have sunny warm weather the 4th week in May. The town is quaint and everyone is so friendly. We had great lunches at The Pub and Marche. It is a beautiful drive to Port Angeles for a whale watching tour and Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park. I enjoyed cooking breakfast and dinner while looking out over the Puget Sound. Our 3rd morning we watched a whale feed close by and saw several seals and shore birds. Make sure to open the doors to the bedroom and fall asleep to the sound of the water - heaven. We enjoyed wine, cheese & crackers by the firepit in the evening and watching the ferries and other boats on the water. This is a very special place and we look forward to returning again. One little note: we bought EVOL breakfast burritos for the morning of our whale watch tour as we had to leave early and didn't have time to cook discover there is no microwave. This is not a problem for us at all...but wanted to give a heads up:)

Owner's Response: Stephanie, Thanks so much for all of your very thoughtful comments. It sounds as if you had a great time and your suggestions of fun things to do will be appreciated by future guests. It sounds as if you missed the microwave which is located in the pantry area. So we will move it into the kitchen. You and your family were great guests and we hope your future vacation plans include a return visit. Pat and Carla

Rockaway Beach Road is one of most sought after locations on the island because of its outstanding views and quiet south island location. The south end of the island is the quieter location and does not have the traffic of 305 to contend with.
