With views of the ocean, mountains, sunset and more, Unit 10-401 is one of the most sought-after apartments at Kamaole Sands.

About John and Maysie Tam

Born and raised on Maui, we have lived, worked, and raised our family on Maui. We reside a mile away from Kamaole Sands, and we love to personally greet our guests upon arrival, and respond to any questions or problems immediately and without any delay. We provide our guests with insider tips on places to visit, secret beaches, activities to do, and the best restaurants for casual or fine dining. On occasion, we have shared a bottle of wine watching the whales and the sunset.

Families return to Kamaole Sands throughout the years. Why? Kamaole Sands is clean, well-managed, and one of the most family-oriented condominiums on Maui. There is so much for the kids as well as the adults, with a variety of activities in a safe and enclosed grounds and environment.

What makes this condo unique

Our guests at 10-401 have an up-graded fully-furnished condominium with sunlight and cool sea breezes and tropical views. Our top-floor ocean-corner location is safe, clean, and quiet. And yet we are so close to outside activities for the energetic, and hidden beaches for the adventurous.

The views are fabulous, the sunsets incredible, and just here long enough to feel the island magic to release all the troubles of everyday life. Say a prayer with the conch shell blowing when the sun says goodnight. The romping with sea turtles and amazing snorkeling just on the beach out front. We will return. Aloha.

The owners are very nice and the place is charming

Great location. This area doesn't have beach side resorts, this condo is the best location in the complex for access to Kam III. For the price you really can't beat it. This place is most perfect for either two friends, or a family with 2-3 children.

Welcome Home!

Spent 5 nights in this unit. Best location! Even though the temperature flirted with 90 degrees in the daytime, there was absolutely no need to run the air conditioner even though there was one. This unit is breezy and beautiful. John stayed in contact with me from the time of booking up until our arrival, answering questions I had with very thorough responses. There were even fresh flowers left on our first full day. Just added a touch of comfort and care to an amazing experience.

This was a great find and I would definitely love to stay here again!

Great condo! Great resort! Great hosts!

We spent 2 weeks in this condo and it had all the comforts of home. The location is amazing and the views are wonderful. It was a treat to meet John Tam and all his wonderful information of the area. We loved the flowers Maysie sent from her garden. It was wonderful to enjoy the breezes blowing through the condo and did not need the A/C once. The location is perfect. I would return again any time.

Great Condo! Wonderful Hosts! Great location!

My two sisters and I spent a week in this great condo. Now that we are all retired we could finally find the time to take our first vacation together. Our first week was spent in Honolulu and after the hustle and bustle of that city and not so nice accommodation it was wonderful to be met by John Tam, welcomed with cold drinks and shown around his comfortable, very clean and well equipped rental unit. We enjoyed every minute there! By following his suggestions with regards to keeping doors open and windows open and using just the screens we kept this unit cool and pleasant all the time. We did not use the air conditioner at once. He phoned us during our week's stay to see if we needed anything and to assure us that he was there for us and to contact him if we needed to. I felt this was a great touch as we found out he was a wonderful source of information! The beautiful garden flowers he delivered midweek were such a lovely personal touch! This condo is just steps away from the beach, snorkelling and trail walking. Its a short drive to anywhere you want to go! The street is busy and as all city streets are has lots of traffic noise! By keeping the street side window closed at night we found the noise level to be much less and the condo still cool. I did not find the noise level to be an issue! We enjoyed our stay here very much and would recommend this condo to every one! To meet the person behind the emails and also one who is such a caring owner to me was a real plus!

Great property,convenient location, fantastic host

We were in Maui with one of our daughters for the first week in August to attend a wedding. The unit was perfect for us, John agreed to set up the main as the master which worked out well. We only ate breakfast in the unit as there were many dinners connected with the wedding. The beach across the street was nice, at times the waves were good for body and boogie board surfing. Beautiful view of the sunset from the beach. Close to the Maui golf courses, and many places nearby to go to for happy hour/good food (we had a great time at the Monkeypod and also liked the restaurant in Lahaina upstairs and across the street from the banyan tree and courthouse - they had Newcastle on tap!). We went to Haleakala for sunrise - definitely worth getting out of bed at 4 AM or so - and also enjoyed our visit to Paia, complete with a trip to Charley's Bar, part owned by Willie Nelson. Although it was very hot and humid during our stay, the nights were comfortable as a nice breeze came through the unit if we left the lanai door and windows to the main floor bedroom open. All in all a great experience for us, my only recommendation would be that John consider putting a lock on the front screen door as I think that would cool things down even more at night if the front door could be left open (I didn't care but my wife was nervous about it!). Almost perfect.

Just got back from a week at this condo. John has great pride in his unit, as he should. We have stayed in this resort many times - in many different condos- and John is the only owner to meet us upon arrival and show us through the condo. It was spotless and had pretty much everything you will need for your stay. Other reviews have stated the cupboards were stocked with spices and other goodies. That could be misleading a bit. The fact is, what's in the cupboards are things that the previous guests have left behind, so use at your discretion. Beds were comfortable. The main floor bedroom had 3 twin beds making it great for families. Both bathroom were immaculate. Some of the condos we have stayed in, you really didn't want to use the shower, but not here. The new glass block shower enclosures are fantastic. Beach equipment was pretty good. 3 really nice chairs and one not so good - for an adult anyway. Beach mats are the best - not those cheap ones you find at the ABC stores. We didn't need the air conditioner. The cross ventilation kept the place nice and cool. We BBQ'd most nights and ate in the condo. We would have loved to have eaten our dinners on the lanai, but it was way too dark. One small light outside the sliding doors was in no way bright enough to see what you were eating, but breakfast on the lanai was great. I think it took us less time to get to the beach than it did to get to the pool. That means you are directly over the main road through Kihei. It's great for people watching but I have to honest, it can get a little noisy from the traffic. In fact we had to keep the windows and sliding door closed at bedtime or risked the chance of being woken up early from the traffic. And the views from the lanai aren't quite what you might expect. Yes you can can see the ocean, but only in the distance. There are too many trees in the way to get a really great view of the beach and the surf crashing in. You can hear it but you can't see it. The sunsets, not from the lanai. You have to go out the back door, and still there are some trees in the way. To get a really good look, grab the chairs and and beverage and just go down and across the street and enjoy the show. So basically the street noise and the partial views kept us from giving this a 5 star rating, but I would recommend this unit this that caveat, to my friends.
