Overview

About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 7)

Located on 25 acres of hillside overlooking the city of Vernon and Okanagan Valley, with amazing views all around you, you will love to vacation in this huge suite (1748 square feet) with its own yard and outdoor relaxation areas. You are welcome to use our sports court with basketball hoops and hockey nets.

The views of the valley, the city of Vernon with Okanagan Lake and Terrace Mountain in the distance are so incredible! At dusk, you will watch the sun disappear behind the hills then turn your gaze to the valley below you, the twinkling of the city lights will capture you, yet here you are in the quiet enjoying the fresh air coming down Vernon Hill, cooling you off, refreshing the air, you will feel calm and peace come over you.

The suite has 9' ceilings and is very spacious. It is half below-ground so stays a perfect temperature year-round. There are 2 bedrooms (sleeps 7 with one couple on a queen bed in the main bedroom with 3 on tween bunk beds and two more on a double bed in the other bedroom). The two double beds have new mattresses, so you will have a great sleep! A separate TV/playroom has been decorated with black leather furniture: sofa, loveseat, beanbag chair, ottoman and cube chairs which fit underneath (storage for toys). The 20' x 20' main bedroom, decorated with the romantic feel of the Victorian era, enjoys 800 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and a goose-down duvet, two large closets, a sitting area with a TV, an antique vanity and rocking chair, and a crib for the little one. The living room, with the couch set in a bay window and a chair close by, enjoys fabulous views, and there's an electric fireplace with two pub chairs for a warm cosy chat or just quiet time listening to the stereo. The kitchen is large and well-designed with everything you will need for meal preparation, and there's a table which comfortably seats 6 (7 if needed). You have your own laundry room with new washer and dryer, and a spacious, clean bathroom. Brazilian cherry flooring are in the front bedroom and the living room: gorgeous.

The property is close to everything - Vernon has nearly everything you can think of to do: beaches, water sports, boating, golf, waterslides, stock car racing, hiking, fishing, skiing, horse races, antiquing, adrenaline sports: you name it, I bet we can find it here.

Please see below for our very reasonable rates. About Caroline O'Callaghan

We bought our 25 acres back in 1999 and built our house in 2000/01. We love living here and enjoy the peace and quiet, the fresh air and wildlife that abound here on Vernon Hill. We hope you will enjoy this beautiful area of the Okanagan valley as well!

Caroline O'Callaghan purchased this apartment in 2001

Why Caroline O'Callaghan chose Thompson Okanagan

Stunning views of the city and valley; facing west with gorgeous sunsets; quiet, fresh air, privacy; beautiful mature fir and ponderosa pine trees; trails up the hill behind us for hiking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Tom and Michelle and their 2 teenagers spent 2 weeks in March/12 to go skiing at Silver Star and came back for 2 weeks at Christmas/New Year's for more skiing. They left a note, saying, "Thanks again. We had such a great time and were so comfortable! See you again in March." They come from Ontario and have wonderful family holidays together. We love having them come - they are great people and we enjoy seeing them on the hill!

A wonderful stay in Vernon!

  • 5 of 5

The suite was super! It was very family friendly and clean. The owner showed us a path to walk so we had a good hike one day. We will come back to stay here in the future.

Awesome home!!

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from 5 nights at this property. We travelled with a 14 year old and a 10 year old. This house was perfect! Spectacular view!! In the evening u can sit outside and see the whole city lit up! The house had everything we could possibly need. So much space, which was so awesome after travelling such a long distance. Everyone could have their own space to chill out at the end of the day. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed- dishes, coffee maker, espresso maker, spices, wine glasses, You name it! Comfy beds, more than enough bedding, cozy tv room, washer and dryer (which really came in handy) gorgeous master bedroom! This was the first time we stayed in a vrbo property, and I really wasn't sure what to expect, being that the owners live upstairs in this property, and we do like our privacy, but I had nothing to worry about. We had our own yard, bbq, entrance. Caroline and her children were there to greet us when we got there and she showed us around, but other than that we truly had the space to ourselves. But she always ensured us they were only a phone call away if we needed them. Caroline also provided us with a lot of great ideas on things to do in the area, which was super helpful. This place was truly a gem, and I can't wait to return! It beat staying in a hotel by a long shot!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for coming, Jennifer and Travis! It was a pleasure to meet you and your children. We greatly appreciate people like you who come for a family vacation and take such good care of our place, and also to take time to post a wonderful review! You are right about the view here - it is fabulous and I wish I could take credit for it, but alas, I can't. Vernon is a beautiful city with its lakes, orchards, valley and hills surrounding it. We love living here and don't want to be anywhere else. We hope to see you again next year!

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had the opportunity to stay at this property end of June/2016 to July 5, 2016. It was very spacious and very clean. We did a lot of just relaxing and drinking coffee while taking in that wonderful view from our outside area. The owners were very friendly and hospitable. Kings view would certainly be our pick again when staying in Vernon.

Sisters' Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My sister and my visit to Vernon in May was not a happy one (funeral) but turned into an extended visit that answered each and every one of our NEEDS. We had all of these plans to go here and do this, but ended up only leaving the property once. Started and ended every day outside simply staring at the surrounding beauty. Many times we’d comment that the only thing we heard was the birds. Kitchen was stocked very near to what home does. The one little thing that was required, was provided immediately and delivered in the sweetest manner. Beds were comfie, shower had great water pressure. The second living area with the leather couches turned out to be our late evening gathering place because it was like we were in a cozy cocoon. While there we were thinking ahead on just how appropriate the property would be to bring a family or two. Fully fenced yard for even small toddlers, plenty of separate areas (bedrooms/living areas) for different groups and everything provided down to books, games and toys. We left with only one regret that we hadn’t planned on staying later.

Owner's Response: It was wonderful to meet both you and Carol, Cindy. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet Cheri, but I'm glad you all enjoyed yourselves here on Kingsview. I am so sorry for your loss. I know you are going through a difficult time. This place is somewhat magical, I agree; it's so quiet it's good for the soul, yet we are still only a 7-minute drive to the City of Vernon, with all its amenities. That's why we decided to build our house here! Peter, our kids and I all enjoyed sharing homemade ice cream with you. You both have such a wonderful sense of humour, it felt like we had known each other for years! I hope to see you again in the future, although it would be nicer under diffferent circumstances! Caroline

We were recently in Vernon for a family wedding and had an awesome stay at the Kingsview home. Caroline made us feel us more at home than I could have imagined. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing stay!

Owner's Response: It was really nice to meet you, Gary and Colleen, Marilyn and Gaylene! Glad you enjoyed your stay here on Kingsview! I was surprised at the request, Marilyn, for a rock for your rock garden at home, but I don't mind sharing and will probably be able to find a replacement here on our 25 acres! :) The weather while you were here was probably the worst we had all summer, so I'm thrilled you enjoyed being here anyway. Hope to see you all again sometime in the future!
