Why Molly Beane chose Island of Hawaiʻi
Spectacular Ocean, Coastline and Golf Course Views. It's little wonder why our home evokes the warmth of a timeless tradition of Aloha. Stepping inside, you'll find extensive use of granite and limestone, a retractable wall of glass leading onto the private Lanai with full kitchen, well-appointed luxurious accommodations and some of the best views within our complex all contributed to our love of the property and the purchase of our home at the Wai ula ula. Authentic, organic, unspoiled, enticing. It can be argued that the Mauna Kea beach is the very best in Hawaii... its craggy and seductively romantic coast rising from the Pacific, the summit, volcano, tropical rain forests and white sandy beaches are today as they have always been. Here, cool nights and morning breezes give way to brilliant sunshine and warm days. To discover the Kohala Coast on the Big Island is to be enchanted by its natural wonders, and those that know it understand why this is the very best of Hawaii. And our condo is the perfect place to call home.
What makes this Condo unique
Since our Lanai rests on the 11th hole of the Golf Course, we enjoy watching the golfers, enjoying the ocean views and appreciating the privacy that sets our home apart from other units in our area. A close and easy walk to the Amenity Center makes workouts, spa and pool time extra enjoyable. The updated Hapuna Prince Resort as well as the lovely additions at the Mauna Kea will ensure your stay with us unbelievable.

Beautiful Property With Problems
Nice property with good views over parts of the Kohala Coast (the majority of the view is of other condos but still a nice one). The unit has upscale appliances (Wolf etc) and the rooms are very spacious. The unit is stocked minimally as you often find in vrbo’s (ie barely enough silverware etc) but that is not a huge issue. The dishwasher definitely needs to be replaced as we attempted to use it several times during our stay-it ran, it just didn’t clean anything. We had problems with the smoke alarms having low batteries on the first night and they chirped the entire night keeping everyone awake even after removing the batteries.Amenity center resolved after owner contacted-we sent her two messages.
Our biggest issue, and I think it’s a significant one, is dealing with an owner who (while seemingly nice enough) has overlooked the digital/online requirements of modern day rentals and does not wish to fix that.We had work to do (and my wife had important video conference calls during our trip) and ultimately we had to purchase a room at Hapuna for this. Not even so much as a “Sorry” from the owner. The unit has WiFi but good luck trying to pry the password from the owner. She will insist that the Island Internet is to blame.Uh no, connecting to the WiFi that is at the unit is the problem. When we first checked in, we went thru the numerous folders that were provided and there was a password listed. We tried every iteration of this password including removing the space, no caps, one exclamation point etc (all told we tried about 25 different versions of the password and none worked). The owner got back to us after we left a message for her and said that she was in the Caribbean on a yacht and could not help right then but that the password had been changed and she would email us the new one the following day.The following day came and went-no password. Instead, she told us to go to the amenity center to go online. We went there and left messages with the manager-he never ended up responding to us and it didn’t appear there would have been a spot to use anyways. The day after that she claimed the problem was spotty Island Internet to which we let her know that it was a password problem. She didn’t respond with the pword. The day after we let her know we were getting a room at Hapuna to resolve. No apologies but rather a reiteration of spotty Island Internet.Review space constraints=if willing to deal with obstinance in beautiful surroundings,5 Star.I’m not,1 Star
This is our second stay at this property. The view of the ocean and sunsets are outstanding. It is beautifully furnished yet has a wam liveable feeling. The bedrooms all have their separate areas so there is privacy for all. There is access to the beautiful Mauna Kea and Hapuna beaches - Mauna Kea being the best on the island! There is also a lovely pool area used only for the Wai’ila’ula property members. There are so many positives just can’t list them all. The best I can say is that we intend to return a third time!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful, well appointed home. High quality throguhout and a terrific floor plan for multiple couples. Owner was very responsive. We will definitely stay here again!
Great family condo for vacation!
My family and friends - a group of 3 adults, 2 kids and 2 teens - had a fabulous time at this awesome condo! There was so much room for everyone, the condo is fully stocked with everything you may need to cook for the beach. We enjoyed the views, cooking in the kitchen, bbq'ing on the lanai, the amenities center and being able to do our laundry too! The garage is nice to have for an extra car as well. The condo is very close to the amenities center, which we all enjoyed. The folks that work here are so friendly and helpful too. We made so many new friends! The condo and amenities center at the condo are modern and roomy.
Purchasing the Mauna Kea amenities card was well worth the cost as the beaches are gorgeous with plenty of room for everyone. Mauna Kea had the bigger, better and safer beach while Hapuna had the better pools, in our opinion. Walking between Hapuna and Mauna Kea was amazing! We saw whales almost everyday (in February).
A few annoyances were 1) finding the condo at 11pm at night. It was challenging as the letters of the buildings are not lit up at night and it is pretty dark; 2) there are sugar ants that will come out, so clean up your food (this is a commonality of a tropical island). I'd suggest that the queen bathroom and kitchen tiles/spaces and sinks be regrouted/recaulked to help with the sugar ant visits; and 3) the neighbors above you will school you on how to properly shut the patio doors. Apparently, we were slamming them and shaking the whole building. The woman upstairs was quite rude and yelled at our kids very rudely one morning to stop slamming the sliding glass doors (which we felt they were not doing); however, her partner/husband came down and was very friendly about it. He was kind about it and we all felt better after his visit.
It's Hawaii, the Aloha spirit abounds. Would I stay here again? YES, definitely! So worth it!!!!
Great condo. Easy booking process.
Lovely home, outstanding owner!
This was our first stay at this unit so we knew what to expect in general (we’ve stayed at other units in the same complex). The views of the hills are lovely. We enjoyed eating and relaxing on the lanai every day. Because the unit has a more Northern view, the sunrises and sunsets are less dramatic from the lanai. We enjoyed watching the goats on the hills in the morning though!!! Having access to the garage was really appreciated.
The kitchen has about everything you’d need for most cooking, and we used the outside grill most evenings.
Molly is an outstanding host/owner. She goes out of her way to proactively send info about the unit and island. Very accommodating.
We had a bit of a challenge getting into the lockbox (we arrived after dark) as there wasn’t a light to help us see. The unit could use a bit of refreshed paint but that’s cosmetic. We had some issues with ants and “island bugs” that we’d not experienced in other units- not overwhelming-
Overall we loved our stay, the unit, and the complex. We’re looking forward to coming back.
