My husband is an architect and I am a graphic designer and owner of a local boutique. We have two teenage daughters and have enjoyed living in our home for over 20+ years. Our older daughter has recently gone off to college and our younger one is soon to follow thus the decision to share our property with fellow "empty nesters" and other travelers alike.
Katherine purchased this house in 1995

Our house is clean, safe, quiet and very well located in a family-oriented neighborhood and sits within a short walking distance to shops, restaurants, cafes, yoga, parks and allows easy access to the beach, swimming pools, golf, farmers' markets, museums, summer camps, etc... Santa MOnica is also known for its fantastic weather and ocean breezes most of the year.
Our stay in this cottage was absolutely delightful and the location was convenient to everything we wanted to do while visiting Santa Monica. The owner was very helpful and made things easy for us. We highly recommend it!
We had a great stay at this very nice, clean, and well kept house, located in a cool and mellow neighborhood. the house has a nice backyard (great for our 1yr old who crawled /walked around in the grass), a bbq grill with outdoor table (we hosted a group of 10 adults and 3 kids for a bbq one night and sat around the outdoor table comfortably). within a very short pleasant walk from the house the is a grocery store, good little coffee shop, ice cream shop, andand what looked like a good restaurant (although we didnt go). I highly recommend this house. Plus the owners were very nice, easy going, responsive, and made us feel totally welcome. Great stay.
Our experience with Katherine (owner) and the stay in general was ideal. The home is beautiful, comfortable, and cozy, and the location great. It has an incredible backyard that you would never dream exists in Santa Monica (includes bocce court, bbq, two different outdoor dining areas, and an outdoor fire pit). Our group consisted of three couples, each with one young child and the home accommodated us perfectly, with one couple and child sleeping in an extra studio out back. The owner was very friendly and easy to deal with prior to booking and was very warm and accommodating throughout the process (we arrived to find fresh fruit and cookies waiting for us as well as a fridge and cupboards stocked with staple items, a list of things to do in the area, information on cafes and food markets, etc...). Overall, all three couples were thrilled with this rental. We will definitely plan to stay there again on future trips to L.A.
Beautiful house in a perfect location. We loved our stay in this great house. It is clean, tastefully decorated, and perfect for a family. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor fire pit, bocce ball court and BBQ. There is also a public pool a block away. The neighborhood is safe and quite and very close to the great shops and upscale restaurants on Abbot Kinney Street in Venice, or 3rd Street in Santa Monica. There is a wonderful breakfast/lunch restaurant called Thyme Cafe that is right around the corner and a local supermarket that is walking distance. The owners Tim and Katherine were very responsive and helpful through the entire rental and made us feel right at home. Thank you!! We will be back!
Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and shown around the house. Everything was neat and tidy and the house has such a lovely cosy touch to it we felt immediately at home. The garden is a perfect hang-out and the kids enjoyed playing boule. The neighborhood is perfect for a run and the golf course and swimming pool are right around the corner. We took the bikes out to ride to the beach and the nearby restaurants and stores in Abbot Kinney and Rose. The housekeeper is an absolut star and we couldn't have felt more comfortable. Overall the perfect stay!
Thank you Katherine and family
Our family of 5 spent a very pleasant summer in Santa Monica in 2009. The house is very clean, with hardwood floors and a nice set-up for a family. Quiet, safe location. Very nice and accommodating owners will ensure that the house is ready for your stay. We would recommend this home to our friends. Enjoy!
"Santa Monica is a beautiful seaside city, with easy access to metropolitan Los Angeles and the rest of Southern California. Equal parts coastal getaway and urban center, Santa Monica serves as a perfect base for vacationers and business travelers alike.
Located a convenient 8 miles (13 km) north of LAX and itself a walkable 8.3 square miles (21.5 km²), Santa Monica is comprised of eight distinct districts, each featuring its own character and lifestyle options. Following is a survey of the eight districts and highlights of each of their offerings:
Downtown and Third Street Promenade
Also known as Downtown Santa Monica, Inc., this neighborhood hosts some of the city’s biggest stores and most famous retailers as well as two weekly farmers’ markets. The open-air, pedestrian-only Third Street Promenade is a huge draw for its shopping, dining, street performers, bookstores and movie theaters.
Santa Monica Pier and Ocean Avenue
Offering direct contact with the beach and ocean, the famous Santa Monica Pier houses a Carousel and full over-the-water amusement park, while palm tree–lined Ocean Avenue has an array of prized ocean-view restaurants and hotels.
Mid-City’s wide thoroughfares are home to a variety of shopping, dining and pubs, many major film, television and music companies, as well as the city’s newest performing arts venue.
Main Street offers chic clothing and design stores, art galleries and a weekly farmers’ market just two blocks from the ocean, as well as the Santa Monica Walk-In Visitor Information Center.
Montana Avenue is a tree-lined shopping area amid a residential neighborhood with casual yet luxurious dining and shopping options.
Pico highlights include Virginia Park, the Virginia Park Farmer's Market, Trader Joe's, Local Coffee, McCable's Guitar Shop, Aca Pillow, the Morgan Wilson theater, Upper West, etc...
Ocean Park is a friendly neighborhood that is experiencing a bit of a Renaissance with a variety of new, shops, cafes and restaurants including Thyme Cafe and Market, Cafe Bolivar, Love Coffee, Santa MOnica Yoga, Goods, Brooke Rodd, etc...
Santa Monica Airport
Santa Monica Airport is a working, private airfield and events space, home to outstanding restaurants, the monthly Outdoor Antique Market and annual Barney’s sale at Barker Hangar."
