Because there is no place like Venice, and to truly experience it you must live like a local (not stay in a hotel). There is an energy and excitement in our neighborhood that is unparalleled. A vibrant cultural, art, music and culinary scene makes Venice a great place to live and vacation.

It Never Rains in California

  • 5 of 5

Amazing!! It never rains in California? It rained and was cold for our entire week-end stay. We grilled fabulous steaks (in the rain) and drank champagne in our private hot tub (in the rain) one night. Another night we did a complete gourmet meal (thank heavens for Whole Foods) and put the hot tub off until midnight. I have nerve had a more fantastic vacation! For three times the price we could have been crammed into a hotel room without our own private hot-tub, kitchen and grill. This was my second visit and I hope to have a hundred more. I also like free parking better than $30 a night.

Has everything you need to relax

  • 5 of 5

This was the best spot for the 4th weekend. We didn't have to worry about parking. The beach was a quick walk down the street. We could either eat in or go get food at a variety of restaurants in walking distance. Everything we needed was readily available. Already planning another stay in the near future. Thank you again john!

Quaint

  • 3 of 5

When I first opened the door it felt like walking into a chemical sauna. It was very basic and old with green shag carpet on old wood floors. Tv instructions would be amazing(there is cable & Netflix). The homeless were enough that at night walking my dogs I had to turn around when I found myself on the wrong street(across the street from front gate). It was a Great value. I probably will not go back here Alone(with another human I would consider going back). The bed was very clean. The location was very convenient. Just be prepared for Venice uncensored. And text owner if they do not send you check-in information.

Can not recommend

  • 2 of 5

It wasn't a terrible stay but it was disappointing that the owners did little to make it better. When we arrived we had a broken couch in the living room, a broken screen in the front window, torn patio cushions with the stuffing coming out, some bent window shades, and an army of homeless people across the street and near our front door. The homeless did not bother us directly but we had to listen to them yell obscenities to each other in the middle of the night. Those who were on our sidewalk were removed the next day, but the ones across the street remained for the 5 nights we were there. We got messages and a visit from someone telling us not to park our car in the wrong spot, but we didn't even have a car until the last night we were there. The owners surprisingly replaced the broken couch on the fifth day with no apology or explanation for why that wasn't done earlier. The Wi-Fi went out on the fourth day we were there which the owners blamed on the Wi-Fi company, but we asked around the neighborhood and no one else lost their Wi-Fi. It remained off the rest of the time we were there. On the last morning we were there someone trimmed the branches hanging over the patio (which had been dropping flowers on the furniture). That, like the broken couch and the broken screen should have been taken care of before we arrived. We didn't ask for a discount but we should have been offered one to compensate for the broken items and the loss of Wi-Fi. We were not abusive or demanding tenants but I feel as though we didn't get our money's worth and they could have been better hosts. Overall, the place was clean and pleasant enough on the inside, but the experience should have been better.

Owner's Response: These tenants arrived and actually broke the slats on my couch which was unfortunate. It was still functional but I had to order a new one and switch it out which took a couple days. I explained this to them and they said they were ok with it. Time warner cable had an issue with the line coming in to this unit and had to come out to replace it which they did that day. I explained this to them as well and they said that would be fine. The unit was in perfect working order when they arrived and they had no complaints during their stay. This review came as a surprise to say the least, and I feel it is completely unwarranted and unfair.

Great Location. Wonderful Patio!

  • 5 of 5

This was just what we hoped. The location was perfect for walking to many restaurants and the beach. The neighbors were super friendly. The house is on a well traveled street but the alley parking and (locked) gated entrance made it feel very safe and secluded. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful location!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place! It was perfect for my two kids (10 and 7) and myself--close enough to walk to the beach and either stay right there or rent bikes (for the kids, I used one of the two adult bikes provided with the apartment) to bike over to the Santa Monica Pier. We needed a rental car to visit family around the area so having the dedicated parking spot was awesome.
