The apartment is located downstairs from the owner’s upstairs residence and adjacent to vrbo 305977 and can be rented as 2 bedroom; a great option for families with teenagers or couples travelling together. Bikes are available for you to explore the tropical bike path leading you to world-famous surf breaks, beaches and reefs. Along the way, enjoy outdoor restaurants, The Coffee Bean and deli at the nearby grocery store. About Judy Knutson
The North Shore of Oahu seemed the perfect choice after 22 years of living aboard, raising two children and sailing a sailboat throughout Mexico, the South Pacific and the Pacific Northwest. My husband and son both avid surfers had to live in the "7 Mile Miracle" and be within walking distance to the surf. I myself love to hike, kayak, paddle outrigger canoe, ride bikes, snorkel and swim. The North Shore is the perfect playground for us to enjoy the ocean that we love.

Why Judy Knutson chose Waialee
We decided to buy and settle on the North Shore to be close to the ocean and the surf. California was just to busy and hectic so in 1985 we set sail for a more quiet lifestyle. After first arriving in Hawaii we lived for many years in Honolulu but the city life was just not for us we had to get away from all the high rise hotels so we moved to the 'country'. We love the simple, quiet country living that the North Shore provides with no high raise hotels and big box stores. Life is good on the North Shore.
What makes this House unique
What I love most about our location is waking up to the sound of the birds and the falling asleep at night to the gentle trade winds and the sound of 'quiet'. I love the fragrant tropical flowers that I have grown and that are now abundant since we first bought the property. The fragrances of the puakenikeni, plumeria, gardenia, white ginger and trumpet flower are so intoxicating especially after a light tropical rain shower. The mornings and evenings just before sunset are my favorite times to be outside whether working in the yard, riding my bike or going for a refreshing swim at Sunset Beach or Waimea Bay. During the warmer times of the day I find a cool place to sit back with a book. It is so pleasant while reading to be cooled by the gentle trades and serenaded by the birds. I love that our bungalow home is on a safe quiet street perched on the hillside overlooking the ocean and away from the two lane highway and foot traffic that living at or on the beach can have, but yet it is just a short walk down our driveway and street to the beach.

Great little place to stay. Nice hosts and great location on the North Shore.
This was our first trip to the islands. We wanted to stay away from the busy city. This place was just right for providing that "island" feel. Really close to some great beaches. Including Sunset, Sharks Cove, Wiamea and so on. Not too far from Haleiwa either. Judy was gone but her husband made us feel very welcome. We didn't use the kitchen too much but it was very nice and had everything you could want or need. The beach cruisers were also fun to ride down to Ted's Bakery. It was also nice to have a washer and dryer to do some laundry. The driveway is pretty steep so make sure you are comfortable driving/walking up it. It was not an issue for us. Overall I would recommend this rental to anyone who asked.

Your unit was very clean and we had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The king size bed was very comfortable and the sound of the waves make for a peaceful sleep. We like to cook and we had most of our meals in our unit and we had everything we needed including a BBQ .The access to the beach is a few minute walk and you can walk on the beach forever! Next time we will try some of the many hikes available in the area. It is a short drive to many other beaches and north and east side towns.
We highly recommend this property and look forward to coming back!

Perfect place to stay in the North Shore!
My husband and I loved our stay at Judy and Mark’s! We were there the last week of our honeymoon and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Upon arrival we had a lovely bottle of red and card which made us feel so welcome. Even though we arrived late that night Judy allowed for late self check in and gave so many thorough directions that we felt more at ease trying to find their place in the dark. Their place is super clean, spacious and well stocked. It is in a great location - in close proximity to Pipeline, Turtle Bay, Waimea and Halewai. We walked or biked up to sunset beach, Pipeline and Sharks Cove daily. Velzyland beach right across from the place is so nice too! We loved that they had bikes we could use (even though they are a bit rusty from the sand) and felt like locals. After months of honeymoon travels it was so nice to have a place that felt so homey. We could finally do a bunch of washing at their place without an additional cost! Judy also gave some amazing food recommendations in Halewai and Kahuka farms (knowing I was veggie!) and local hikes that we could do. We are so glad we decided to stay in North Shore over the busy and touristy Waikiki, which was still only an hour drive away so we did day trips to check out the famous Pike Head hike, east and west shores of O’ahu too! We will be recommending one of Judy and Mike’s place to any of our friends / family that make a trip from Australia and will be back!

Our family visited Oahu for the beach wedding of our niece. We stayed at Judy and Mark's for a week and found it to be a fabulous home base for our adventures. Mark and Judy were warm, friendly, and accommodating hosts. We found the apartment to be clean, comfortable, and well-stocked. Especially appreciated the washer/dryer and the kitchenette. We borrowed the snorkeling equipment, cooler, beach towels, and chairs. Had a great time snorkeling at Shark's Cove, Aweoweo Beach and Research Pier. Walked along Velzyland Beach in the mornings. Visited the botanical garden and played in the waterfall and pool at Waimea Valley. Ate at several local places with great food. Explored the whole island and discovered distinctly different climates and landscapes. Learned to surf at White Plains Beach. Highlight was snorkeling with sea turtles and bright schools of fish over the reef. Truly a magical time. I would highly recommend Judy and Mark's bungalow to others who would like to make the North Shore their home base on Oahu.

There is no way to describe how perfect this place is!!!
My wife and I arrived to celebrate our anniversary expecting this to be a place to sleep and eat. We were very pleasantly surprised by the beautiful views right from the living room/kitchen and the front porch as well as the warm, comfortable and clean living area.
We spent 11 days exploring the North Shore area. We went on several hikes, swims and adventures that were suggested by Judy and Mark. It was like having a tour guide available for the whole vacation. Every amenity worked great. We rode the bikes, used the snorkel equipment, used the washer/dryer several times, used the beach chairs/umbrella several times and even asked if there was a guitar, which Mark loaned me his personal acoustic for the entire stay. Judy and Mark are wonderful. They are always available to chat but never intrude. We felt welcome and pampered. The kitchen was clean, well stocked and had everything we wanted. We ate at several local food trucks and restaurants suggested by Judy. They were great and we were able to find a variety of places without breaking the bank. We also bought groceries at Food Town just down the road and found their prices very fair. We found this area of Oahu very friendly and never experienced theft or felt threatened in any way. There are so many things to do within 20 minutes of this place that we only left the immediate area to visit Pearl Harbor and hike Diamondhead.
Overall, we can't say enough good about this place and Mark and Judy. We have already recommended it to co-workers who are trying to book it soon. We would not ever stay anywhere else on the North Shore/Oahu.

The State of Hawaii Transient Accommodation Tax (TAT) and General Excise Tax will be applied to stays less 180 nights of 15%. Stays of 180+ pay 4.712% tax (GET) only. THE TAT WILL INCREASE TO 15% AS OF JANUARY 1 2018 Agreements are 30 days regardless of stay. Rate is based on two persons. Additional 10.00 per night applied to rate for third person this includes children. Maximum occupancy is limited to 3 persons. Maximum stay 3 months. Property owners are not responsible for loss of personal belongings or valuables. By accepting the reservation it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises and equipment or others whom they invite to use the premises and equipment. The renter(s), their guests assume all liability and responsibility for their actions. Renter(s) agree to indemnify property owners of all liability while using the premises. Owners reside upstairs. In case of allergies; there are four cats on the property, they are not allowed in the rental units. There are stairs without handrails from the parking area to the apartment and inside. The walkways and driveway are slippery when wet, the driveway has an incline and requires a degree of fitness ability when walking up or down. This property is located hillside and the terrain includes grass, stepping stones, gravel, brick, steps-cement and wood, walkways lit by ambient solar lights only thus pathways can be dark at night. Property is not suited for people with any orthopedic or balance issues.
