For Those on a Family Vacation
We know many families on vacation need a morning off. If so, we have a unique relationship with a high quality local preschool which will accommodate the preschool-age children (age 2 1/2-5) of our guests during term-time stays. If you would like to consider a morning of caring attention and play for your younger children, inquire for details. We can also provide many suggestions for enjoying Seattle with your family.
Located one block from Greenlake and an easy walk to neighborhood coffee shops, you can enjoy the area on foot or hop a bus downtown from your doorstep. Greenlake/Woodland Park is one of Seattle’s premier recreational areas and offers a multitude of varying athletic venues and recreational opportunities. The Woodland Park Zoo is only 1 mile from our location. Ten recently resurfaced public tennis courts and a par 3 golf course are within walking distance as is Evans indoor public swimming pool. Additionally, the Greenlake branch of the Seattle Public Library is close by and, for a nominal fee, provides visitor check out service as well as free Wi-Fi and computer availability. Quality restaurants, supermarkets, and shopping are a short distance away and the University of Washington is a mere 5-10 minute drive. If you plan to go farther afield, we are 5 minutes from I-5 and Highway 99 allowing easy access to downtown and the region by car. Our location is truly outstanding and its overall convenience will optimize any of the choices you make during your stay in Seattle.
After traveling extensively and living in many of Seattle’s distinctive neighborhoods over the last 44 years, our family has settled in Greenlake where easy access to the entire city and superb recreational opportunities make this a truly ideal location. Virtually everything a person(s) on vacation or conducting business could need is readily available. With its early 20th century character, spaciousness, unique architectural layout, and secluded patio/garden area, Greenlakehouse is a beautiful oasis in a cosmopolitan setting. Its excellent views of and proximity to the lake provide us a vantage point from which to enjoy the year round changing of the seasons.
For families with young children -ages two and a half through five years- our special relationship with a long established nearby pre-school allows adults needing an afternoon of “down time” a chance to catch their breath and explore on their own. We are 25 minutes from Seatac International, 15 minutes from Safeco Field (Mariners), Qwest Field (Seahawks), Husky Stadium (UW football), 10 minutes from University of Washington, 10 minutes from Seattle Convention Center, and 15 minutes from downtown. Bus stop less than one block from front door.
We stayed for 4 nights and had a wonderful time visiting family and the city. Green Lake is a beautiful community. We loved the morning runs around the lake and the quaint shops close by. Fred was an excellent host. He made sure we had everything we needed even giving us a variety of breads and baked goods upon our arrival. Our teen daughters loved the window view of the lake from the top floor bedroom.
Of course there is sking and snow activities one hour from Seattle and ocean fishing 2-3 hrs.
