This unique penthouse unit sits on an ocean bluff and overlooks a stunning, world famous panorama, from 1000-foot waterfalls cascading down the Bali Hai mountains to the south, to secluded Hideaways Beach and reef below you, to waves crashing on the rocks of the Queen’s Bath to the north. The view is unparalleled, and only a few units in the complex have one as nice as this. With our enclosed solarium and top floor location, this unit is the largest one that offers that view.
Trade winds float through the condo providing natural cooling, and each of the main rooms has a quiet ceiling fan and 10 to 18 foot ceilings with recessed lighting on dimmers. The unit is bright, with windows in every room. The living room is topped with a high clerestory that bathes the room with light and provides an extra sense of spaciousness and climate regulation available only in the penthouse units. Our solarium (not all penthouse units have one) is always bright, even during the rain squalls Kauai is known for. The front door opens into this welcoming solarium, in contrast to several neighboring units where the outer door opens onto an open unroofed lanai before one can enter the unit.
The bathrooms feature premium fixtures with detachable showerheads, deluxe one-piece toilets, wood cabinetry and granite countertops and trim. The master bath has an oversized walk-in shower with two showerheads and a glass block wall facing toward the sea, so you can see the sparkling ocean even from your shower. The master bath has two sinks and a deep, full-length whirlpool bath. The second bathroom is spacious and includes a washer and dryer in an annexed closet. The unit is provided with a surplus of bath towels and beach towels for the ocean and pool.
The master bedroom features an ocean view, a king bed, plenty of closet space, and a television and DVD player. The room can be made more private by closing accordion shutters onto the solarium if desired.
The kitchen is recently remodeled in granite and wood cabinetry and new appliances, and it is fully equipped with utensils, pots and pans, dinner flatware, dishes and glassware. The refrigerator provides through-the-door ice and water. The dining room adjoins the kitchen, affording both casual counter seating and a more formal dining area with an expandable table and 6 chairs.
The living room is luxuriously furnished with extended sofa, loveseat, koa wood furniture, a personal stereo with iPod/iPhone hookup, and a large, fully cable-connected high-definition flat screen television with BluRay DVD player. The solarium contains upholstered rattan furniture, a breakfast table, a whale-watching scope and an antique Chinese cabinet. The unit offers guests a variety of music CDs, movie DVDs, popular books, board games and jigsaw puzzles. Original artwork by Arius Hopman, Brad Dawber and other artists is displayed on the walls. Large folding shutters facing the lanai can be closed to limit sun exposure if desired. This complex is constructed of concrete, so you do not hear occupants in neighboring units through the walls.
A computer desk and work area shares the view and is fully equipped for laptop computers and phone calls if needed.
The large, newly furnished lanai is oriented to the WNW with wing walls on either side. Since this is a penthouse unit, there is no one above you, which affords complete privacy. The lanai has a BBQ, multiple chaises, exterior lighting and an umbrella-covered glass table, giving you an unsurpassed dining view. The lanai closet contains a complete set of beach furniture, and multiple snorkel sets are available for guest use.
Mobile telephones throughout the unit, plus wired and/or mobile phone extensions in the master bedroom and second bedroom, provide unlimited free long distance service within the United States. DSL high-speed internet access and 802.11N secured Wi-Fi wireless access is available in all rooms and on the lanai.
Over the past several years, we have upgraded our unit with top-of-the-line equipment, including a high efficiency washer and dryer, a dishwasher, new cutlery, dishes, pots and pans, complete living room furniture, lanai furniture, BBQ, computer work area, mobile telephones, WIFI, whale watching scope, and top quality art work.

About: We live and work in Northern California, and we look forward to welcoming guests to our home away from home on Kauai. We have spent vacations in Hawaii for the past 20 years with our two children (now grown). We bought this unit in July 2009 because it showcases all of the best features Puu Poa has to offer.

The North Shore of Kauai is as close to heaven as we have found! Princeville is peaceful and green, with fewer tourists than many other resort areas. We love the jungle-covered mountains, 1000-foot waterfalls, great beaches, and superb golf.

No two sunsets are the same, and all are spectacular. The night sky is dark, with few visible neighborhood lights, and the panoramic view of the stars is incredible. Even the rain is wonderful, warm and cleansing. The entire condo is bright and spacious, yet TOTALLY private. Every major room has views of the sea, sunsets, breaching whales, passing rain squalls, surfers, kayakers, and sailboats... This is a great spot to relax and enjoy everything the islands have to offer.
