Overview

About the property

House, 7 Bedrooms + Loft, 6 Baths, (Sleeps 12-50)

Mighty and majestic, in the midst of lush grasses, wildflowers, and tall timbers, this beautiful log cabin features 7 bedrooms and 6 baths. With tile and hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen boasts a restaurant style cooking area, Marble counter tops and stainless appliances. It is stocked with spices and equipment for the best of your Chefs' cooking. An extremely open floor plan allows sunlight in aplenty. Natural timbers are visible throughout the interior that ad to the warmth and charm. This cabin is set in the middle of sloping green meadows, surrounded by hills topped with tall trees. A small stream runs near the cabin that feeds into the Turkey River. The stream itself has a small waterfall. Walking through the woods you may even find a deer trail to explore. There is plenty of exploring to be done!

All of this is set in roughly 57 acres! The Turkey River runs on the property, so there is easy access to fishing, tubing, and swimming with the fishes. We even have 2 Kayaks on the property for use. You will need to bring you own equipment though. :) There is a convenient pickup location a couple of miles down the river. Tubing float time is approximately 45 minutes. We also have an outdoor basketball hoop, and the volleyball court is going to be finished in the spring.

With a huge deck and views to take the breath away, you can barbecue to your hearts content and enjoy the surrounding wild life at the same time. The morning coffee on the deck is something to be experienced, as all your cares seem to melt away. Or, maybe to just stay inside and enjoy a competitive game of Foosball or ping pong, or a board game of your choosing, there are plenty.

In the evening there is a fire pit for s'mores or sing-a-longs or …? When everyone decides to come in for the night you will find all queen sized beds have plush pillow top mattresses. There are 5 master bathrooms. Plenty of room to spread out and get comfortable. With 4 cots plus two couches, 3 recliners and a futon, there is room for even the largest of parties and guests. We have an upper game room in the loft, and a lower game room below.

This is one log cabin that is limitless! With plenty of extra chairs and tables at your disposal you can hold a conference, a wedding, or a workplace getaway. Family or class reunions, workshops, or retreats…. I am sure there is more. You decide!

We are looking forward to your stay!

RV electrical hook ups are available.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family had a great time and dearly loved the spacious house. This is the first time in several years that we have all been able to stay together in one house. And, each of our 5 children & spouses had their own bedroom. Since the bedrooms are so spacious the smaller grandchildren slept on cots or air mattresses in their parents rooms. The older grandkids slept on air mattresses and cots in the basement and loft. Of course, my husband and I took the master bedroom on the main floor. There would have been room for more people to sleep on cots or air mattresses in that large room but we did not need that. And, your fully stocked kitchen was unbelievable. The grandkids LOVED all the games-amazing that you would have so many. My sons, sons-in law, and grandkids dearly loved the basketball hoop. They spent a lot of time shooting basketballs.

We all appreciated the air conditioning.

Besides your lovely large log cabin we found so much to do in the area. 19 of us went canoeing or kayaking on the Upper Iowa River north of Decorah. I want you to know that was a FIRST for me. We Had a great time.

Oh btw, we did a lot of very positive advertising your large log cabin in the area as we went to several different places and visited many people.I thank my granddaughter in Minnesota for finding it on VRBO. It is an AWESOME log cabin.

Beautiful Log Cabin

  • 5 of 5

A Thanksgiving that we will never forget. This place is BEAUTIFUL. I mean the views. Gorgeous. The pictures of this cabin are exactly what this place is about. It happened to be amazing weather this year. So we spent the majority of the day time outside. Walking the trails they have. Walked down by the water. Just sitting on the deck. We admired some of the wild life. Deer, Eagles. This place is perfect. Easy to get too. Relaxing. Peaceful. Teresa helped us so that we were able to carry on our tradition of watching NFL football on Thanksgiving. (No WI-FI...which we all made it without. And if you do not have US Cellular you probably will not have good cell service.) We had a little hiccup with the dish washer but told her about it when we got back and she already said that they would take a look at it. Nothing major on our end. I would just share to be patient with the communication with Teresa. She will get back in touch with you just may not be in time frame you expect. (Or maybe it was just my expectation. ) Either way...A MUST to rent. We have already talked about renting it out again. We LOVE it!!! And have told many people about it already. Thank You Teresa.

From the Baker Family.

Great remote and beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

All of our 16 family members thought it was a great location and a beautiful cabin to have our family reunion. The cabin has a lot of high quality features and plenty of room to spread out, and the kitchen was well furnished. We had a perfect weather stay and spent most of it on the deck admiring the great view of the valley below and an occasional deer and eagles among the other song birds. Had to unclog one of the shower drains after the first shower, but otherwise everything worked perfectly. Would be nice if there was a landline or a cell phone booster if for nothing more than having the ability to dial 911 if needed. Otherwise cell phone and data service is almost non-existent on Verizon. It was a long drive for some of our clan to get there and if we can't find something more central, we will probably be back as it is hard to find places that will sleep this many and cook your own meals. We had a great experience.

Great Place to relax

  • 5 of 5

we had a great time at the log house. It was so big and very good supplies. We have stayed at many condos and they had very few linens and appliances. There was 10 in our group and everyone had a room and we were not cramped in a 3 bedroom and barely room to move. We would have liked cable but we got by. We would definitely go there again and we kind of know more things to do now. A lot of fishing areas for everyone. we went to Decorah to Dunning springs and the fish hatchery.

Absolutely perfect for our large family reunion!

  • 5 of 5

We gathered here for a family reunion in June to celebrate our parents 85th birthdays. The cabin was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. The main floor was open and spacious with a breathtaking view of the valley and Turkey River below. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed, including a second refrigerator for storing food and drinks. There was plenty of seating for everyone, including several extra tables and dozens of chairs to go with them. Three nice size tables with seating outside came in handy at meal times or for just visiting out in the sunshine. We had a fire by the fire pit both nights and a few family members even took the kayaks that they have available out for the afternoon!

In addition, the local cleaning staff was wonderful. One of them even met us there (after we communicated with the owners) a couple of months before our stay so we could walk through the cabin and make plans. She was very welcoming and answered all of our questions.

We had such a wonderful time that we decided to make it a biennial gathering place for our family. Can't wait for summer 2019!

Excellent Family 3-night Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This log cabin provided plenty of space and great entertainment for our family vacation. A total of 33 people had excellent accommodations for a fun-filled 4 days/3 nights together with Aunts and Uncles, cousins and Grandma. The 6 bathrooms are great, and it has a total of 11 beds plus cots and pull-out couches. Plenty of space for eating, relaxing, games and food. The volleyball court was great, and the kids had fun playing in the river along with fishing. Thanks for a great time!

Well furnished and beautiful inside and out.

  • 4 of 5

We had a group of 25 stay April 21-23 and we had an absolute blast. The cabin is exactly as the pictures online suggest. It's open and roomy with the inside of the cabin being as remarkable as you can imagine. The six bedrooms, couches, and recliners left plenty of room for everyone to sleep. We definitely made use of all that was on hand. From playing Foosball on one of the three tables in the basement to playing ping pong or basketball outside. We also enjoyed the beautiful view each morning from the deck while sipping coffee, mimosas, or bloody Mary's depending on each person's preference. At night we built bonfires on a fire pit that accommodated all of us to sit around it in our lawn chairs and drink a few cold ones. You do need to bring your own firewood. The kitchen is fully furnished with anything you might need for utensils, silverware, bowls, pots, pans, even a couple of crock pots. Just bring your own food and drinks a good attitude and there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't have a great time. We also made use of the gas grill in the evenings to cook everything from steak, burgers, shish kabobs, and asparagus. It's not a huge grill so obviously people have to take turns, but it definitely gets the job done. We rented this cabin for my wife's 40th birthday and I can honestly say everyone left very satisfied. If I had to rate our stay I'd give it a 9 out of 10. The only draw back we had on our stay was the first night we were there. Even though you have a out in the middle of nowhere feel, that is not the case. There is a neighbor close enough that you can see from the cabin when the leaves are not on the trees. I believe they called the cops our first night we were sitting by the fire listening to music. At 1130pm on Friday night we had a visit from 3 sheriff's cars for being too loud. That put a little damper on everyone's mood, but we had no problems after that. I did have some trouble trying to get a hold of Teresa in our time after booking our rental to ask questions. Reason being she is out of the country a lot helping orphanages. I was able to get a hold of her husband Tom on the phone and he was super helpful in answering any all questions I had. I just want to give both of them a thank you for letting us stay we had a great time. Definitely recommend seeing this place at least once, just watch your noise level :)
