Welcome to my 'Desert Dream' ~Vicki Butler, Owner

Your vacation starts with a very well appointed, fully furnished home. I have taken the time to provide you the things that make a house a home. Luxurious beds and linens, Direct TVs, hi-speed wireless Internet, washer, dryer, and a well equipped kitchen await you. As you move to the outside, the beautiful panoramic view of the Catalina Mountains serve as a backdrop for your private, saltwater pool & spa, outdoor dining, BBQ grill, covered patio, and elevated sun deck. Inside or out - life is but a dream.

As the owner of this home, I wanted to create a haven for myself and my family. Coming from Alaska, I find that Tucson not only warms my body, but my heart and soul. I come to rejuvenate, relax, and shed the burdens of daily life; and, let the calmness of the desert embrace me. It truly is my Desert Dream.

Things to Do: Enjoy hiking and biking the numerous mountain and city trails, or experience world class golf at one of the numerous golf clubs sprinkled throughout Tucson. Maybe you'd like to watch the desert bloom in the Spring! Or see the Arizona Diamondbacks during their Major League Spring Baseball Training. Come on down for the famous Tucson Gem & Mineral show, or visit the local wildlife and gardens at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (my personal favorite!). Need more ideas: Tombstone, The Copper Creek Mine, Reid Park Zoo, Aircraft Boneyard, Biosphere II, and the beautiful 1700 Spanish Mission: San Xavier del Bac (another personal favorite of mine!). Want to cool off? See Tucson underground via Kartchner Caverns State Park or Colossal Cave Mountain Park. Or just stay home and plunge into the salt water pool, or enjoy a relaxing massage from the spa. Afterall, it is your 'Desert Dream.'

Where to eat.: There are so many restaurants sprinkled about Tucson. Want to stay close to home? There is plenty of offerings at the Thunder Canyon Brewery at the Foothills Mall - I like to go there for their tasty burgers! Stationed at the curb in front of Walmart off of LaCholla is the World Sports Bar & Grill. Here you can enjoy a meal and watch your favorite sports team offered on one of their many T.V.s Interested in pizza or a sandwich? Try another personal favorite of mine, Sauce, located on the corner of Ina & N. Oracle Road. Right next door you can stop in for a desert of gelato at Frost (voted #1 as Tucson's favorite gelato). Looking to celebrate a special evening? Then Wildflower may be the place to go! Do make reservations ahead of time during peak season's. If you were to ask me what is my #1 favorite place for breakfast or lunch? Then I would hands down tell you to go to Tohuno Chul Bistro (located off of Ina), where you can sit outside under the shade of an umbrella, and enjoy a delicious meal while watching the local wildlife flit about the flowers and tree's. I consider Tohuno Chul to be the butterfly and humming bird haven!

Looking to explore a little further out? You could head down to the University area and taste all of the sandwich shops and exotic fare. Or go downtown for Cafe Poco Cosa with its imaginative Mexican cuisine. The J Bar Lounge or La Pasada for happy hour with a view. Other popular hits are the La Encantada Mall for Ra (sushi), NoRTH (modern Italian cuisine), Blancos (tacos & tequila), Blue Fin (seafood) and you can always pop into AJ's (excellent fine foods grocer). For the best pancakes in town, you've got to drive down to BoBo's - the all American greasy spoon. Try Frank's for breakfast with an attitude. Viavace is always a top dining choice.

And don't forget your own backyard. Fire up the BBQ and throw some steaks or seafood on the grill.

About Vicki Butler, Owner

Living in Alaska for 30 years, it was time for me to find a place to warm up and feel the sun in my face. Currently travel and teach classes & workshops for meditation, crystals, essential oils, and more!

Vicki Butler, Owner purchased this house in 2009

Why Vicki Butler, Owner chose The Bluffs

When I visited Tucson, I fell instantly in love! With an abundant amount of sunshine almost daily, the beauty of the surrounding mountains, the desert plant life, and the amazing wildlife - it was easy to choose Tucson as my vacation destination.

What makes this house unique

This home has been crystal gridded for easy releasing of stress, family harmony, relaxation, and joy! Time and again I received emails sharing that the families had plans to tour the city, and fell so much in love with the property they decided to stay and enjoy the saltwater pool/spa and the view!

Dream vacation at Desert Dream!

  • 5 of 5

House was amazing! Beds were super comfortable and so was all the furniture! We loved the pool and spa and it was worth the extra money to heat it. It was hard to leave such a beautiful and comfortable home, but we ventured out anyway. Shopping and restaurants were close by and lots of options. So close to Omni Resort where the guys loved golfing while the girls enjoyed the Spa. Would definitely recommend this house and owner and would stay again in a heartbeat! Thanks Vicki for making everything so easy and special!

Owner's Response: Diane, I'm so very happy to hear your special weekend was such a huge success! When the saltwater pool is heated, it allows even a chilly evening of star gazing to be that much more special. I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the golfing opportunity and nurturing spa at the nearby Omni resort as well! I would love to hear from you again the next time you travel to Tucson, you were such a delight to have as a guest at my home! ~Vicki, Owner

Fall Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our group consisted of 5 adults traveling to see the WSU/UA football game which the Cougs lost unfortunately! That was the only down part of an otherwise wonderful experience at Vicki's Desert Dream! SHE (VICKI) went ABOVE and beyond is assuring we had everything needed including upgrading to a TV sports package within a half hour of our request! She also allowed to get in early with luggage on our arrival day. All the necessary stores, etc are close by with easy freeway access. The hot tub is grand complete with a peaceful view of the mountains and desert. This is where I will be staying with Tucson visits in the future!

Owner's Response: I'm so glad to hear you all enjoyed your stay! You were really quite fortunate in that there was not a departure on the same day of your arrival, and my cleaner was able to get the house completed ahead of schedule. When possible, I am happy to accommodate special requests! Thanks to your passion for sports, I am happy to now offer the sports package to all who visit. I look forward to your return visit Kim! All My Best, Vicki Butler, Owner

Great home. The salt water hot tub & pool were amazing!

  • 5 of 5

This is our fourth VRBO and this house is our favorite so far. Fantastic location on a quiet dead end street. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils and pots pans etc. The pool table was a treat too.

The salt water hot tub and pool were incredible. We probably spent 3-4 hours a day in them. Can’t do that in a chlorine pool without feeling yucky.

Loved everything about it.

Owner's Response: Wonderful Philip! It's exciting to hear that you enjoyed the nourishing waters of the saltwater pool & spa!! It is so worth it to have it heated when the evenings are cooler. Hope you were able to fire up the outdoor gas grill as well. ~Vicki Butler, Owner

Better than the photos!

  • 5 of 5

Really comfortable house all around, beds, furniture, decorations all good quality. Kitchen and everything else well equipped. The natural salt made the hot tub pool experience much more enjoyable. The pool table was good fun. For five adults, felt like the home had just the right amount of everything. The area around the home was amazingly quite both day and night, great for walks or runs, very little traffic.

The view from back yard great day or night.

Beautiful view, spotless home, perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in October for a week. The owner is superb, the home spotless, and the views amazing. An excellent home totally equipped for all a family would need for the week. My wife and our three young kids had a terrific time. Great location as well, easy access to all the sites of Southern AZ. Highly recommend. We will be back!
