The house is a single level elevated beach house, all living & bed rooms have windows facing the ocean & dedicated split unit Air conditioning. outside you will find a screened lanai, multiple decks & a BBQ facing the ocean, perfect for kicking back and sun soaking at the beach or relaxing in the back looking at the palm tree covered manicured garden

If solitude and beautiful views are your idea of paradise, you will love Exuma. Exuma's appeal is that it is not filled with tourist traps and fancy hotels and restaurants, but rather that it a place of serenity where walks on sparsely populated beaches and boating or diving in pristine turquoise blue waters bring peace to even the most stressed-out travelers.

Jericho House is located less than five miles from the airport, around midway of the length of the Great Exuma island making getting around a breeze. It is private & secluded with plants and lots of massive palm trees, obscuring the house from the roadway, and the neighbors are barely visible. The property has a large number of mature coconut palms creating shadow canopies and fruit trees giving the home a very tropical feel. When you walk through the door, look out the picture window in the lounge you will so appreciate why you spend the time traveling. The ocean is front & center through the picture window and is the first sight you see when you open the front door.

Relax, you have arrived!

Now stretch those glorious days - enjoying the beauty of the Exumas from sunrise to sunset and late into the moonlit evenings! Please enjoy the fruit & coconuts anytime!

About Pierre & Sanet Burger

Exuma is our recharging pad and soothes our souls, we dread leaving this place every time we visit and experience this slice of paradise. We love to share it with people of the same mindset & life attitude!

Pierre & Sanet Burger purchased this house in 2011

Why Pierre & Sanet Burger chose Bahamas

We thought this place to be the closest thing to paradise we could find anywhere! It calms the soul, it is natural and extremely beautiful, the Friendly Exuma People are just the best! The whole island experience is so much more than we ever imagined it to be - back when we started looking for something special & unique! We found this after spending days looking at many other islands and could no resist Jericho (It was incidentally the first & last property we viewed!

What makes this house unique

Jericho is close to everything on the Great Exuma Island, around midway of the length of the island, thus close to everything and not remote, but extremely private, secluded and natural. Jericho is also well known thus getting directions back is just easy! Most of all its on a glorious private super calm and safe beach, with snorkelling in our back yard!

Smiles All Around

My husband and I just thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day vacation at Jericho House...we truly were grinning from ear to ear the whole time. The house is quaint and well outfitted with all you will need, even beach towels! We were joined by friends for 7 days and we still found the space of the house to be just great. The view and beach are just as you see in the photos...amazing. We rented a car for three days, poked around the island, explored a few beaches. The surf on the far side of Stocking Island was huge while we were there and we enjoyed playing in that for quite a while. Our time of just resting while at the house was just that...restful. Thanks Pierre and Sanet...we will be back!

Going back is all I think about...Going back to the Blue Water, and blue water it is. Amazing

My Ex-Mother in law’s husband and son both died within a year of one another. She is in mid stages of Alzheimer’s. We had planned on waiting until next May on Mother’s Day, but I realized time was of great importance. Thanks to Janet, I was able to get her there in September. We missed Juaquin by a couple of weeks but after having been there, not even he would keep me away. The ocean is absolutely gorgeous and view is incredible. The pictures just don’t capture the beauty of this place. When you open the door, the view is breathtaking.

We loved the deck and sitting just watching the ocean. I took a day trip to see the pigs and Iguanas and ended up with one biting me. A pig, not an Iguana. Lost my glasses during a dive on a plane wreck and still had the time of my life.

The owners were incredibly helpful- before, during and after our trip. If you want lobster, talk to Renee. She’s at the hair salon across from the gas station in town. They run $5 each.

I highly suggest renting a car for the week. A taxi will run you $25 each way into town. I packed an entire suitcase with food for our stay and boy am I glad I did. The prices at the market will make your hair stand on end. No problem bringing it in. It just has to be in its original packaging. I even packed dry ice and brought my own steaks from the butcher.

You must make it out to Chat n Chill. What a great place. We hiked over the hill to the Atlantic and took a dip, it was magnificent and the Conch salad was so delicious. Our time was relaxing and very enjoyable! If Moms condition doesn’t progress to fast, we’ll be back again next year. Thanks Janet for making our trip possible. You’re the greatest.

Would definitely go back!

A little piece of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We booked this house well in advance but I have to say the pictures and even all of the reviews can't capture that breathtaking, awestruck, jaw-dropping view that we had when we first opened the door. The ocean is absolutely gorgeous and view is incredible. We loved the deck and sitting just watching the ocean. We love to snorkel and our children spent hours in the ocean which we had entirely to ourselves!! We walked up and down each way on the beach and rarely saw another soul. The owners were incredibly helpful- before, during and after our trip. It made all the difference as we didn't really know what to expect. They were so good to give us lots of tips and suggestions and no question went unanswered.

We rented a car and saw the entire island. It was fairly easy to navigate and everyone was very helpful and friendly. The beaches are magnificent and the food was so delicious.

Our time was relaxing and very enjoyable! Would definitely go back!

Best deal on the island

  • 5 of 5

We booked last minute and the owners were more than accommodating. They stayed in touch throughout and made it very easy to book. The house is in arguably the best location on the island. Its quiet, back from the road and safe. Many of the other rentals on the island are right on the road. There is Prime Island Deli and Meats about 5 min away and a bank with an atm there too. Smitty's is about 7 min where you can get groceries and there is a liquor store next to them. The house is perfect for 2 couples or a family. Each room has its own controllable A/C. The kitchen has all the utensils and dishes you will ever need. There is a microwave, toaster and coffee maker as well as a 5 gallon water dispenser in the pantry for drinking. They have good strong WIFI and cable, multiple stereos, movies and board games. They truly make it feel like home! The grill out back was perfect for cooking steaks and sausage that we bought at Prime Island. There is a screened in porch on the side of the house. There was also a 2 seat Kayak to use. The beach was nice and sandy and while there are some rocks if you go a few feet to the left there are none in the water. Close proximity to the airport.

Heaven on Earth

  • 5 of 5

Welcome to paradise! From the moment you turn into the driveway lined with palm trees, fruit trees, and brilliantly flowering bushes leading up to the house, you know you are in a special place. As you open the front door, the first thing you see is the ocean straight ahead through the living room wall of windows. Of all the islands and places we have been, we’ve never seen the color of ocean water so beautiful. Every time we see it, it is like the first time - a breathtaking spectacular experience.

Jericho House is located right on an isolated sandy beach overlooking ships sailing by in the distance. Once in a while you may see someone else walking on the beach, but most of the time it is just you and the sea.

Inside the house, it is well furnished. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. There is a big TV and wifi. There is a great outdoor grill. There are beach accessories. Even though you feel private and secluded, you are near enough to everything with a short ride to town. The Bahamian people in Exuma are very courteous and friendly. The island is not only beautiful, but welcoming.

Every time of day or night is special in its own unique way. The late afternoon sun shines on a reef out in the water turning it sparkling gold. In the ink black night sky the stars twinkle like diamonds. And most of all, the continuous sounding of the waves makes you feel like you have found heaven on earth.

Our first time to Exuma was 27 years ago and once we discovered Jericho House we are grateful that we never had to go any where else. It is by far the best accommodation we have stayed. It is so close to nature-it’s like going home.

It really doesn't get any better!

  • 5 of 5

We had the privilege of staying at Jericho House for the second time. We are already scheming about how we can get back there ASAP!

About the house:

The house itself has everything. It's very clean, amply supplied with water, towels, etc. The kitchen has a blender, microwave, dishes, pots, pans, spices, - everything needed to cook your own food. The beds are comfy. There's in room air conditioning (we didn't use them much - preferring to open the window and fall asleep to the sound of gentle waves) There's cable TV and Wife for a media fix. And the two screen doors are fantastic - we had them open all day long to let the breeze blow through the place.

The surroundings:

The real charm of Jericho house, at least for us, is the incredible thing that happens when you walk through the front door. You are immediately confronted with a HUGE window that looks out on the deck and ocean. Its an irresistible invitation to head outside. Once out there, well, Jericho House really begins to show its beauty. The deck - HUGE. The view - incredible! The chairs - plentiful. The ocean - spectacular.

Just a few steps from the deck and you are walking on the beach. When we were there we had a nice combination of days with a bit of wave action - and days where the water was completely flat. On the flat days, we snorkelled out by the rocks. Every day we ended up strolling up and down the beach. It is magical! I think that over the course of the week we were there we saw a total of 11 people walking on the beach - it was wonderfully secluded!

I should add that the grounds around Jericho House are beautifully kept with coconut trees and other vegetation. We even found a few papayas - but they weren't ripe yet.

About Exuma:

I can't write the review without also mentioning the charm of the island itself. This island, it's people, its laid back sense of things - all fantastic. While this is a review of Jericho House we have loved: Cocoplum beach at low tide, Tropic of Cancer beach, Santannas, the Fish Fry (on Fridays for sure), Chat 'n Chill, swimming with pigs/ sharks/ sting rays, sand bars in the middle of the ocean, feeding the Iguanas, boat tours of the Cays, a Kalik or two, Staniel Cay, wave surfing on the Atlantic side of Stocking Island, Starfish bay, exploring, the kindness of the Bahamian people, the incredible beaches everywhere, the warm ocean, fish, lobster, - everything!

The problem with this review is you might want to go to JH - and take a week we want!
