Several of our group skied Wolf Ridge which was just a few minutes drive away. We also tubed which was located within walking distance. One day I drove to Marshall (about 40 minutes) and took my grandson horseback riding. We enjoyed the creek located on property and the grill on the porch was also a plus. I would highly recommend staying here. I hope we will make a return visit!
We of three generations stayed at Mars Hill Cabin over Thanksgiving. Some places are equidistant between Lexington KY and Apex, NC., with grandparents (us) coming out of Texas. We discovered that 5-4 cars could get parked on the road up to the cabin. The hill around back was a place for youngsters to roll down and go up again and again. The flat area around the pond was perfect for touch football and the grands participated. The kids enjoyed the bunk beds. The kitchen was just right for all to fit into to cook, with the large table just right for all of us to sit and enjoy the meals. We were pleased with this home away from home for 5 days.
As for suggestions, provide 2 sets of towels, wash rags, hand towels; directions could be more specific with exact names of roads; make sure all the lightbulbs work; another set of curtains need to be over the side door that no longer has a working lock. There were lots of poker games in the loft. The nice big Jacuzzi could have some grab bars for those in 7th decade. Loved the roomy master bath. Could have a bigger trash can outside. We never used the outside grill, just thought about it.
It is a great place to stay and we hope to come again. Donna's convenience store turned out to be a place we went into each day. Friendly folks there.
Thank you. The Johnsons
weve been renting vacation homes for years and this one was by far the best property and cabin. and there were many great touches of good taste. my favorite was the light canisters attached to the trees around the cabin. magical at nite. there was a broken door that was the 1st access to the cabin. i read about it in someone elses review there was a lot of construction trash directly under the windows of downstair bedrooms.the cookware was also very old and not acceptable to a good cook. that was very frustrating. all that said we would definitely book it again
Our family of twelve stayed at the cabin for a long weekend. The accommodations were very nice. The three private bed rooms were perfect for the adults and the dorm type room with bunk beds was great for the younger family members. We were in town for a wedding at Memory Mountain. The cabin was surprisingly close to the wedding venue which was a bonus for our family.. We ate most of our meals at the cabin, the kitchen is nicely stocked with cooking and baking utensils. the fire pit was really nice, with lots of wood to burn. Over all our stay was nice.
What a wonderful mountain home! We all really enjoyed our weekend, the only problem was it was too short a stay. Looking forward to a return trip in the future. We would recommend this large, lovely cabin to friends and family. Owners were very responsive and easy to work with, surroundings very nice, Asheville a short drive away. All in all, a great place to stay.
