About Lisa Edson
This property has been in our family since 1941. My grandmother bought 8 acres on the water (4 of them are now mine) with her inheritance from her mother for $15,000. My brother, sister and I grew up as little kids across the street where my grandparents had an old country club as a home. In the summer we would go down to the property and take their cabin cruiser out or just sit on the boat and have lunch. My dad seeded the creek and boat basin with mussels and clams when he was growing up, which are still there. In 1997 we started working on the permits to build here and in 2005 we finally received the last permit and our dream house was built. It is our intention to keep the house in the family for many years. I have nieces and nephews that I want to have similar memories as we had growing up. We decided to rent the house to defer the costs of maintaining it as well as let other people share in the experience of what has been called 'it's own nature preserve'. The 100 acres of nature preserves have the development rights sold off so no more homes can be built on that land. We have had some of our fondest memories here. There have been rehearsal dinners, birthday parties, Super Bowl parties as well as family reunions, holiday and Corporate events. I am an ordained minister and love to work with special couples to make their dreams come true. This has become a very important part of my life and it takes precedence over most things for me personally. Although the North Fork has been known to be a summer vacation destination, some of the prettiest times are in the fall, winter and spring. The house faces due South which gives the property some of the most gorgeous sunrises and sunsets ever to be seen. At night the sky is so clear you can see the stars from within the house. We welcome you to 'A World of Paradise at Bayview'. I'm told over and over again, 'Thank you for sharing this amazing gift with us Lisa'.
Lisa Edson purchased this House in 1941
Why Lisa Edson chose Southold
My family has been visiting or living in Southold since 1941. My grandparents had a summer house here commuting from Jackson Heights Queens where my grandparents owned, cooked and ran a local diner. Their photo in the diner is in the our kitchen. In the late 50's they finally opened up my grandfather's law practice and moved out here permanently with my dad . My dad retired from commercial real estate with Mc Donald's and opened up his own real estate office here with my mom. Our family grew and my brother and sister are 'True North Forker's' from birth. A birth right I can not say I share having been born in Syracuse NY. Although I started in kindergarten here, I don't hold the same title they do. When you see the bumper stickers 'I was born on the North Fork' you will remember this and hopefully smile in knowing what that means to the 'true locals'. They are very proud of their heritage here, as I am too. There is no better place or memories than the North Fork for our family.
What makes this House unique
Having a cup of coffee or a glass of local wine and getting lost in the views. No matter what time of day or what time of year, good or bad weather it's always gorgeous! I love having the music playing in every room of the house, with the fire places on, lights dim and just taking it all in. Sitting at the butcher block island and talking to family and friends while cooking in the kitchen is one of my most favorite times. There are two wing back chairs in the kitchen along with a little table where people comfortably sit while I work away and they relax. The ceilings on the top floor where the great room and kitchen are vaulted with tounge and grove cedar planks. When you walk into this area and see the water and preserves draped behind it, everyone gasps for breath. It's impossible to describe the sunsets and the constellations that you can view from inside our home. There are many times we rush home from where ever we are to make it in time for a few of 'God's wonders he gave to us'! You truely have to see it to believe it. Everyone is amazed when they get here and say the pictures don't do it justice! There are few times that we get to use the house, as it rents all year long. When we are fortunate enough that the house is open we rush from Connecticut a short 2 hours away to remind us what we work so hard for. As I always say 'it's not about getting here that's difficult, it's leaving that's impossible!' There isn't one family that doesn't say 'How do you EVER leave here!' You will see what they mean when you get here. We can't wait to share it with you!!

great family house
our second time - it was wonderful
Amazing Bachelorette Weekend
I'm the Maid of Honor and planned a 13 person Bachelorette weekend in the North Fork. We stayed in this beautifully appointed house, and it was just absolutely lovely. The kitchen and living area on the 2nd floor are a gourmet chef's dream. We stocked the house with plenty of food and cooked all weekend long. Our host, Lisa and Dan, were very responsive and accommodating. They ensured that we had a wonderful stay. We had an amazing time despite Hurricane Jaquine and while you would think the house would be too small for a party of 13, it was not and all the girls were comfortable. I'm now thinking of doing a family reunion get together here next summer with my own family. I would highly recommend this vacation rental without any hesitation whatsoever. Thank you Lisa and Dan!!!
What a treat!
I was looking for a home on the North Shore that was spacious, modern and had a pool to accommodate my family and friends for a long weekend. When I found out that Lisa's house was available I thought that it must be too good to be true. The house not only stood up to my expectations but surpassed them tenfold. Lisa made the rental process as smooth as possible and the house was beyond stunning. The house was spotless when we arrived and the views off the great room were breathtaking. We had plenty of space to have a large group dinner upstairs as well as hang out by the pool. One of the best treats was the wide variety of novelty cups in the walk in pantry like the flamingo margarita glasses! We can't wait to come back again!
We stayed at Bayview in June for a short getaway. This is truly an amazing home. As described in other reviews, the view from the great room is breathtaking.
What I enjoyed the most is the quiet. The location of the home is very private. While sitting by the pool, all you can hear are the birds chirping. The home is equipped with everything you could possibly need. Just bring your bathing suit. The bathrooms are beautiful, with large showers. The home is wonderfully decorated. I can't wait to go back next year.
I booked a group getaway weekend in this house and it was the perfect location. The views were so gorgeous they actually helped us appreciate watching the snowfall on a spring day! Tons of space to sleep people, large open kitchen fully stocked with any utensil needed, tons of towels for guests - it was a dream home away from home.
Amazing Place and Amazing View
I needed a place that was big enough and elegant enough to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday party with our closets friends. We are group that often travels together. We all agreed that this was the best house we have ever rented. We love to cook and eat and in the enormous kitchen we made some fantastic meals. The upstairs living room has a magnificent view and was central for hanging out and eating. All of the rooms are spacious and the number of bathrooms accommodated all of us, but the master suite is perfect. We have two kids under three so they needed to sleep with us in the room and we were able to do so without us feeling cramped. Waking up to see the LI sound was great. Overall this house was lovely and with they only complaint I have was that we couldn't spend more time in and in the area. We will be back...
