About David Afflerbach
Tried and true lovers of the Northwest. We built the house in 1996 as a personal vacation property not knowing our jobs would take us out of state. We now live in Seal Beach CA. We love boating, camping, hiking, seafood, friends and family. We live vicariously through the comments our guests leave behind. We feel blessed to own this fabulous house and are happy to share it with you.
David Afflerbach purchased this House in 1996
Why David Afflerbach chose Port Hadlock-Irondale
David's family heritage is based in Port Townsend where his mother grew up. This waterfront property was homesteaded by the family over 100 years ago, There are 8 homes all along the beachfront all owned by members of the family. This property has a warmth about it. Once you walk through the front door and look out the expansive windows to the world beyond, you too will feel it.

Beautiful location and home
This was a fantastic place for our Thanksgiving get together with family. The views were incredible. Beds were very comfortable and the home was stocked with everything we needed for cooking.
Even fun board games :) We hope to return some day.
Great space and view!
This is a lovely house with a beautiful water view. The house is very clean, well-furnished and comfortable. The view from the living room and deck out across Oak Bay from an elevated location is spectacular. The location of the house near Port Hadlock is very convenient to the sites in northern Olympic National Park. Nearby Port Townsend is lovely. It is also an easy day trip into Seattle. The Owner was easy to work with. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Beauty, Tranquility and So Much More
What a magical place! The expansive view of the bay; the floor to ceiling windows through which you can look all the way up to the tops of the evergreens in the front yard and watch them swaying in the breeze; the huge deck; the picnic tables down on the water's edge; the clean, spacious, bright interior for relaxing, cooking meals, and spending time with family... everything about Oak Bay Getaway is wonderful. I am not usually someone to rise at the crack-of-dawn, but while staying here I was actually up at 5:45 AM each day just to sip coffee and watch the continually changing display of colors on the horizon across the bay. Thoroughly relaxing and rejuvenating! In addition, the home offers easy access to Port Townsend, and is also a great jumping off point for west-bound day trips such as Dungeness Spit and Olympic National Park. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you David and Kim for sharing this special place!
Very clean and nicely appointed !
Great house and a great place to relax after sightseeing. Nice porch with great view of Oak Bay and lots of things to do nearby. Highly recommended!
House on the Water
This house was great. The kitchen had all the items needed. We had Dungeness crab one night and found plenty of crab crackers to enjoy this fresh crab. The fire pit down by the water was great for evening gatherings looking at the stars and enjoying an adult beverage. During the day, down by the water you could see Mount Rainier in the distance. The instant hot water system made sure we never ran out of hot water. It was very nice.
Peaceful getaway near Port Townsend
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay over Easter weekend in the Oak Bay Getaway. The kitchen was stocked with all the essential tools we needed and we loved the open concept kitchen/dining area/living room. That way we could all spend time together even while someone was cooking and others were reading. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed the view from the upstairs bedroom. The only thing we didn't like was the open upper bedroom. It was clearly evident in the pictures of the house so it's not like we didn't know. However, in the evenings when it got dark outside, it did feel a bit exhibitionist to have the whole bedroom open to the full windows, and the sun woke us early every morning. But we somewhat expected that because the pictures don't hide that fact so I still gave the house 5 stars. It was close to Port Townsend and all the activities that we had planned for the weekend. The closet full of games and puzzles was definitely enjoyed! We would definitely come stay here again!
