perfect mountain getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We are just back from our second summer getaway to this gorgeous cabin, and are already thinking about next year. We are 50-something women who met in college, but were musing that the house would be perfect for 3 couples as each bedroom is beautiful. The kitchen is very well and beautifully equipped with coffee grinders/makers, blender, toaster, lime juicer... the only thing I wished for was an electric kettle for tea, but the stovetop kettle works great too.

The location is really central to so much mountain recreation: we hiked to beautiful lakes, brought our kayak for post hike paddles, biked along the gorgeous Blue Lake Road (Carson, Monitor and Ebbett's Pass are nearby for the more accomplished riders, and this house is almost ON the Death Ride route), ran along the PCT, and then returned to hot showers, great meals prepared with a very high quality Weber grill, pink wine on the deck or right down on the bank of the Carson River in front of the cabin, and movies or stories by the fireplace.

Highway 88 (a 2 lane road) is across the river from the cabin, but road noise is pretty cancelled out by the sound of the river, and was never a disturbance.

I would highly recommend this cabin for summer recreation (every day there were fishermen right down from the cabin, and the Carson River seems VERY popular with anglers), but its location near Kirkwood and South Lake Tahoe (without the hub bub) would make it fun for winter too.

Thank you Lori and family for sharing this home!

This is the cabin you'll wish was your own.

This was the second visit to this lovely vacation home overlooking the Carson River. We spent a weekend last October when the leaves were turning. This time we enjoyed the summer breezes, the guys fished a lot and the ladies visited the hot springs in Markleeville . Both times we came with friends and family and everyone raved about the house, its location and its comfort level. We will return! <3

Lovely

Lovely well maintained house seated just above the carson river. I wish we new how to fish. After long hikes in the nearby mountains we lounged in the sunny living room in the afternoons and enjoyed fires and hot cocoa at night. The only downside was not having wi-fi. Thank You.

beautyful , peacful

  • 5 of 5

the cabin was well stocked and right on the river. You can fish anywhere. We caught Rainbow trout and brook trout. If you want larger fish you have to go to the many nearby lakes. The owner Lori was very nice. you can contact her by text. She was't kidding about the black bears. You can't leave any edible out side. We had and ice chest with some beer in it and the black bear took the beers!!!!!!. it was also a beautyful Drive over the carson pass. Definately need to take a camera. Cell phone coverage is very spotty up there, texting ok.

Spectacular!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin with all of its amenities and terrific view of the Carson River from the living room. The fireplace was cozy and magical. The only thing that troubled me was the master bed was very soft and my back flared up. Other than that, it is a fantastic place in every way!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second family summer vacation to this wonderful cabin. It really has everything you need to enjoy cooking, barbqueing , adventuring, and just relaxing together. To us it is in the pefect location - not far rom Tahoe but not crowded into a big neighborhood .

The owner ,Lori, was quick to respond to our questions and was even able to accomodate our request for a last minute additional nights stay

Being right on the Carson River , the kids and grandkids can walk right down to fish.

We hope to return again next year- maybe during ski season!
