About Amy Sage
My name is Amy Sage. I established the first vacation rental home in the Bitterroot Valley with the SweetSage Guest House in 1999. As a stay-at-home mother, I gradually expanded my vacation rental business to manage other nearby properties while still allowing myself to be home for my family. I am dedicated to providing my guests with the best the Bitterroot has to offer with clean, quiet, private surroundings and all the comforts of home.
Amy Sage purchased this House in 1995
Why Amy Sage chose Victor
I purchased the SweetSage Guest House property over 20 years ago mainly for its unique location providing privacy and close proximity to outdoor recreation and wildlife.
What makes this House unique
We love to hike in summer or cross country ski in winter right from the house. We also enjoy seeing the abundance of birds and wildlife.
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
Great cabin. Everything is as advertised.
Really enjoyed Sweet Sage. Cabin is very nice and well located for many activities in the Bitterroot Valley or for just a quiet get away to a beautiful location. Amy is an excellent host.
Excellent stay at the SweetSage Guest House!
This was our first time booking this property and we were not disappointed. We've booked multiple places with Amy. She is known for going above and beyond to be sure her places are in perfect condition for her guests and this was no exception. I would recommend her guest house to anybody.
SweetSage Guest House is Sweet!
Classic Montana home complete with rustic wood floors, large rock-faced fireplace, and high ceilings in the spacious main room which includes the kitchen, dining, and living areas. Two bedrooms plus bath on one wing and large master bedroom plus bath on the opposite wing provide maximum privacy for two couples, families with kids, or in our case, 3 old fishermen. After each day of fishing we 3 old fishermen all appreciated how comfortable the beds were.
When you arrive at SweetSage Guest House you feel like you're miles from anywhere although its less than a 10 minute drive west of Victor and another 10 minutes to good markets and restaurant choices in Stevensville or Hamilton. In Victor, drop into the the Hamilton House Pub or Cowboy Troy's to get a feel for the local flavor.
Sitting on the front deck at SS Guest House you'll likely see a group of deer grazing in the open fields which border the property with the Bitterroot Range providing a perfect backdrop for gorgeous sunsets.
Amy is a great host and keeps the guest house immaculately clean and neat. Thanks Amy! Hope to see you again next year.
Outstanding property with amenities from wi-fi to washer dryer. Amy Sage is the best.
A VERY NICE STAY….
Our eight-night stay at Sweet Sage was the last leg of a 16-day visit to the Bitterroots. We were pleasantly surprised when we followed the long winding Sweathouse Creek Road to the Sweet Sage home. Perched back and above the road, looking south across open Montana range, the home had a lovely view of the Bitterroot peaks to the west – it was eye candy. We never tired of sitting on the expansive front porch and viewing our little piece of Montana paradise.
The rental felt like a home. It was well stocked and comfortable in all respects. It exceeded our expectations. We dined-in most nights and the kitchen set up had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, internet reliable, and nice showers. A good grocery store (Super 1) is conveniently located in nearby Stevensville. The selection, quality and prices were better than I find in many Dallas stores, which came as a surprise.
Highlights: Front porch overlooking the Sweathouse Creek valley, deer every night, occasional elk herd, peace and quiet, local ice cream from “The Creamery” in Victor, walking Sweathouse Creek with Fido off leash, hiking into the Bitterroot/Selway Wilderness along Big Creek Trail to some amazing water holes, dinner at Spice-of-Life restaurant, fresh eggs from a local resident – sign on Sweathouse Creek road reads “fresh eggs - honk”, the Montana views and vistas, great weather, nice people.
This is a well thought out rental. The owners even provided “dog sheets” to cover furniture that Fido might jump on. I always travel with my own dog covers; and this is the first ever that dog covers were provided – it spoke volumes about the owner’s attention to the little things that make a great rental experience!
Magical, Private and Relaxing
We stayed at the SweetSage Guest House and found it to very magical, private and relaxing. The mountains are amazing around the SweetSage. The night sky was so dark I could see a thousand stars and the milky way. The hiking was fabulous for any age and ability and so many choices.
Amy, our host, was gracious and kind and made sure our stay was prefect. I found the SweetSage to be the cleanest vacation rental I have ever stayed in.… we will definitely be back.
SweetSage Guest House is situated at the foot of the Bitterroot Mountains in the Bitterroot Valley, a beautiful 45 minute drive south from the Missoula International Airport. The Guest House is located just a few miles west of the town of Victor and Highway 93.
SweetSage Guest House is located on a historic Bitterroot ranch dating back to the 1880's. The barn and outbuildings are still in use today and we invite you to tour our heritage.
