The cottage was beautiful and well equipped, we loved every minute. We slept with every window open and woke up with the sunrise and lovely birdsong.
Tracey- I believe I forgot my kindle paperwhite in a blue case there please let me know.
All together a fantastic property, I would certainly stay there again.
Aloha Bryna, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I did look for your kindle and did not find it. If it turns up I will try to return it.
The location is great. Right off the road to hana. It is a side street so it is peaceful.
Have something to tell, but a 5 plus at all !!!
This is aimed to Cindy and Tim. Such comments really make us mad, cos they are more then unfair and not applicable, let me explain why.
We are just returning from some beautiful days over there. So about your accusations : It’s not smelling!!!!!
For sure you mean the beautiful smell of palms and trees. And !!!! It’s not dirty, there is a nice cleaning lady, which keep everything nice and cosy. Second !!!! Geckos you’re right are part of Hawaii and the tropical forest.
And if you should have closed doors and windows there might be same inside but only same this is normal!!!
Third!!! Poops??? Was you searching by magnifying classes ?
I read your “nice” comment before but searching already with thick glasses we couldn’t find any.
We meet such nice and friendly owners living in a little paradise. People like you should spend your vacation in a nice and impersonal place, like a hotel, loosing all this nice connect to locals. This My advice to you. You aren’t able to honor this little paradise. I wish you take your offend back.
For just all in one sentence Love to Max and his wife. Thanks so much for let us leaving there, thanks for the daily fresh oranges for breakfast. Wishing you the best, hope to see you soon.
Luv Claudia and Roland from Germany, hope we stay in touch.
Just as advertised! Beautiful grounds
We had a great stay!
peaceful ,quiet, real , back country experience
We spent fifteen wonderful nights at this place ,waking up to the sound of birds and ocean breeze.Max and Tracey are wonderful hosts ,if we needed anything they immediately provided .They loaded us with their own grown fruits like apple bananas, oranges, lychees .... coconut - coconut fresh water , coconut meat and jelly, omg. they were so tasty and fresh that we will never buy them in the store again, . If you want to get away from noisy resorts, hotels and honking cars this is the place you should spend your vacation. You could call this place retreat. The cottage itself is simple and provides basic amenities.People, don't get scared of Geckos ,they are cute and harmless and will eat bugs and mosquitoes ,we loved them, sometimes in the evening you can hear their "talk" . Also you can see milky way and all stars as you would never see if you stayed in the city. If we ever go back we would definitely stay in the same place again ,we recommend them highly.
Not what we expected at all...
We have been preparing our trip to Maui for the last 2 years so when it came to the place to sleep I looked at the reviews of different places and we selected this one because of the high rating; only 1 bad comment! We thought he was a customer difficult to please and booked the place, but we quickly discovered he was the one that was right!
I have the same review as Tim from Wichita so I will not write all the same things as him, go read his, but the main thing is: it is dirty and it smells. I get that it's tropical forest and that geckos are part of it (we were prepared for that part), but old gecko's poop does not have to be part of it; windows, walls and patio are full of it and believe me it's old stuff and it stinks. I was embarassed to tell that to the owner so we purchased 2 air freshener to get rid of the odor and we cleaned the kitchen shelve where there was the most poop. Every morning we would put back all our clothes in our luggage and close it so no ants and no poop would get on it because we found some "new poop" on the bed linen on the second day. Also remember to wear your slippers at all times because if not, you'll walk in it since there is always 2 or 3 geckos on the walls or the ceiling! . Also no paper towels, no napkins, no kleenex, no surface cleaner which is a given normally... Moldy hooks for some of the shower curtain, moldy plugs for sink and bath... This place is located in a humid part of Maui so with good care and a lot of cleaning regularly it would be fine, but for now it's impossible that's it's the case. We tought about asking for a refund of simply leaving and find another place, but we came to the conclusion that it was only to sleep and only for a week so we made the best of it and stayed. We have been renting places through VRBO and other sites for the last 10 years and it's the first time we are truly disappointed, it was not worth what we spent on it. The view is great on a sunny day and you'll get a few free fruits; does it compensate? Absolutly not!! Honeymooners, you will not get in the mood to consume your love there, believe me!!! Lucky for us, except for that, the rest of our trip was extra even though we arrived in the middle of a tropical storm!
This couple was here during Tropical Storm Darby. Very muggy and wet. The guests never brought any of there problems to our attention. They were polite and seemed to be enjoying their stay. The studio is cleaned very well but there are a few geckos as in ALL homes here on the North Shore. I'll will try to reduce there numbers and respond to some of their suggestions.
As you see from MOST of the reviews MOST people enjoy their stay here in the very same conditions this couple experienced. The linens are always fresh and the lodgings are thoroughly cleaned between occupancies.
I think if this couple should have turned on the fans and opened some windows to circulate some air during the Tropical Storm. They definitely did not communicate any of this during their stay when we could have tried to address some of their issues. Silence is not always golden.......
