Come to the beach & stay in a pet friendly duplex. Your dog will wag his tail!

Bedrooms 3

Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Sofa, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 7-9)

Fenced back yard with a downstairs patio for BBQ and relaxing in the evenings. The back is arranged so you can open the door, and let 'em out in the mornings without leaving your bedroom! Back arranged so your fur babies' can have plenty of shade.

Get up and have your coffee inside, on the front deck, or downstairs with your pets. Then, take just a few steps (careful crossing the street) to the beautiful white sand beaches for an early walk or dip in the Gulf. I would recommend waiting until the evening before taking your pets for a swim - then, leash them & keep them under control. There is a shower downstairs where you can wash off the sand and salt before you go back inside.

Use the full kitchen to fix your meals, or choose one of the many fine restaurants in the area. Or,if you like Pizza, they can have it there in just a little while.

About William F. Tompkins, III

I'm an 'old Coot' of a great-grandfather. I was raised in Hondo, Texas, graduated from The University of Texas, and currently live in a small community just outside of San Antonio, Texas.

William F. Tompkins, III purchased this house in 2009

Why William F. Tompkins, III chose Gulf Shores

I became familiar with Gulf Shores many years ago during a fraternity event following a football game between Alabama & The University. The town, as well as the beaches, are beautiful! When this property became available after I retired (and had the means) I snatched it up!

What makes this house unique

I fell in love with this property because of the beautiful beach! Texas may be heaven on earth, but our beaches, except for South Padre Island, are nowhere near as beautiful.

Super experience!

  • 4 of 5

Had a wonderful time. Proximity to beach was fantastic. As a pet owner it was perfect for us. We were able to let the dogs exercise without having to leash them everytime they wanted out. The upstairs balcony had an incredible view of the beach and made our morning coffee special. Everything was neat and clean. Of course like most folks we are used to TV access in every room so we did miss that. We will be re-booking for next year!

Love the beach

  • 3 of 5

The property size is great and the fenced in area for pets was wonderful. The house is in need of a deep cleaning and some new furniture, especially the sleeper sofa. Location was great. Very family friendly.

We enjoyed our stay here. Was so nice to have the fenced in back yard for the dogs and was a short walk to the beach!

good location and pet friendly

  • 3 of 5

overall the property was acceptable but was very lacking and outdated compared to other properties that I have stayed at in the area in the same price range. While on vacation we tend to do a lot of our own cooking with locally sourced ingredients which was cumbersome do to the quality and condition of the supplied cookware. Every pot and pan was either bent or the non stick coating was peeling and flaking off, I had to purchase my own pans in order to cook. I also had to purchase a cutting board and pizza cutter because none were present. the other interior issues I had were the TV's which were extremely outdated. we had a few rainy days that forced us to spend some time indoors and its hard to watch a movie on a 24" TV in standard definition. The beds were comfortable but of poor design which made them extremely nosy every time you moved. the other major issue I had was every piece of deck furniture was either broken or unstable to sit on which was disappointing with the spacious deck and views. overall I feel this is a nice property and understand it is a rental but the owners really need to ask themselves if they would be pleased after a stay and willing to return.

Ariel House Reviews

  • 3 of 5

The house is a perfect location, close to everywhere we wanted to go. Beach access was very close. It is, however, in dire need of some attention. It seemed pretty clean overall, but a little repairs could go a long way. The vent on the broom closet door was rusty and nasty looking. Both chairs on the back patio had broken legs at the bottom and someone sitting on it fell off. All the upstairs outdoor furniture was wobbly and not stable as well. Someone is going to get hurt! The ceiling fan upstairs in the bedroom did not work and was very unstable, we were afraid it would fall on us. When I called the repairman, he said he could come out but it would cost the Homeowner more as it was the weekend - made me feel guilty for wanting it fixed. The Maintenance man also knew it was broken, why not fix it? Blinds were broken, seals on back bedroom door going outside was not all there. Lots of minor things that could/should be fixed to make the home look a lot better, just little things that wouldn't cost a lot. Kitchen was stocked nicely except for a crock pot. I would stay here again as it was perfect for our pets, but I would hope that a lot of little things would be fixed. Upstairs TV's were for video games or movies only, we were not aware of this, only TV's you could watch were downstairs. We had lots of showers and never ran out of hot water.

Thank You
