771 Luakini St., Lahaina, Maui Hawaii, 96761 is the cutest, quaintest, most charming embracing little plantation style house, in the Historic District of Lahaina. The house has 2 bedrooms, each with queen sized pillow top beds and 2 bathrooms, one with a claw foot bath tub and the other a tiled shower with a glass door. Air Conditioning units in the living room and in each bedroom. Please email for our YouTube video of the house. Please email or call for additional questions. Vacationing in a home (free standing house) is so sweet and very different from a condo experience. Everyone comments on how wonderful it is to be able to park at the house and walk all around Lahaina and home again. Guests love the convenient location that allows walking to everything in Lahaina. Great food, really Really great food within a block of the house and all around this area. Walk to movies and to the Lahaina Harbor and to all types of shops and galleries.

The stretch of Front Street on the ocean side of this property has no structures, offering wide open ocean views, bench seating and stairs to a little tiny beach, great area for sunsets, whale watching boat watching and people watching. At this Lahaina location there is little need for a car except to go to great destinations like Haleakala National Crater and Seven Sacred Pools in Hana. Property is one lot away from Lahainaluna Rd. right by Lahaina Grill Restaurant (formerly David Paul's), next to the Lahaina Marketplace and across Front Street from Cheeseburger in Paradise, near Gerards Plantation Grill, Kimo's, Lahaina Yacht Club, Bubba Gumps, The Lahaina Banyan Tree, the Historic Lahaina Banyan Tree by the Lahaina Harbor and the oceanfront Lahaina Library, galleries and museums and fabulous other fun things to experience. Luakini St. is a one-lane, one-way street with travel heading towards Kaanapali. There is very little traffic. It is easiest to enter Luakini St. from Dickenson St. Close to all types of restaurants, spa services, movies and live broadway type theater at Ulelena. The Lahaina huge one-block sized famous Banyon tree. Walk to the harbor for snorkel trips, boating, fishing, ferry trips to the island of Molokai. The little house could be the subject of any Maui painting. Hang your snorkel and fins or surfboard outside and live the Lahaina lifestyle. Less then 200 feet to the oceans edge. Watch whales and spectacular sunsets over the ocean from Front St.

This plantation style house is in such a great location to vacation in Hawaii. Located in the Historic District of Lahaina, Maui, moments to the ocean's edge and walking distance to harbor, museums, art galleries, shopping and a huge variety of great food, unbelievable food. When we bought this house it was in very bad shape and has taken years to restore to it's vibrant cheerful happy contemporary condition. It has a great welcoming embracing warm feeling and is loved and cared for very much. Just entering the house gives everyone the feeling of Aloha.

What makes this house unique

Vacationing in a house is living as a Maui resident, right in historic Lahaina neighborhood with easy access to the Lahaina harbor, museums, art galleries, shopping and a huge variety of oceanfront restaurants and great food such as Lahaina Grill, Kimo's, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Bubba Gumps, Lahaiha Yatch Club, Plantation House, Hard Rock Cafe, Ono Galato and many more. It is a super fun place to be.

Centrally located, yet completely removed

As the parents of a 2.5 year old, the location of this house was a godsend. Why? Because at any point, we could tag team parenting duties and one of use could relax in a spacious and tastefully furnished home (the lights /noise from the adjacent apartment never bothered us) while the other walked to enjoy Lahaina. And if we wanted to head out as a family, all it meant was putting the kiddo in a stroller and walking down the street to either dine in or bring food home. Baby Beach was five minutes away by car and the rest of West Maui felt easily within reach. So really this was perfect for us.

It's also just a nice house by any standard. The second bathroom with it's sunken shower felt like a luxurious touch in particular. And the kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils and spices and foil and saran wrap you'd need. And a dishwasher too! (Only thing missing is perhaps a better bread knife.) And of course having a washer and dryer in the garage saved us more than once.

So all the good things you've read are in fact true, and the fact that it's just a block from the water and all the action of Front St. just puts it over the top.

Awesome location and clean

This is not a view property. It is super clean. Tucked away with vegetation that provides some privacy. Wasn't ever aware of the apartments next door. In window AC blocked street noise. There were no bugs and the unit is recently refurbished- quite nice. Perfect central location in Lahaina. Easy walk to beach, shopping, dining etc. will definitely come back. Perfect if you are a scuba customer of Lahaina Divers. Highly recommend.

Great location for people who want to be in town.

My adult daughter and I stayed for nine nights in March. This was my first experience with VRBO so I wasn't sure what to expect. I've always stayed at hotels before and I've decided that I prefer the anonymity of hotels. I just can't feel comfortable in someone else's home so keep that in mind when reading my review. My daughter has used VRBO before and she was fine.

Pros: It was easy to communicate with Leah and it was obvious she cared about her guests. The cottage is right in downtown Lahaina and everything (bars, restaurants, grocery stores, theaters, dive shops) is in walking distance. There is private parking, which is a treasure in Lahaina. Experience taught me early to back into the parking area, rather than pull straight in, so that it was easier to get out. The one-way street is very narrow and cars and equipment were always parked along the street. The cottage was well-stocked with towels, washer and dryer, and kitchen equipment. The shower in the back bedroom was great, the beds were comfortable. There are beach chairs, a boogie board, coolers available. There is a deck in the back with a table and chairs. There are air conditioners in the livingroom and bedrooms, which you can need in Lahaina. The weather was unseasonably cool when we were there, but we used the air conditioners anyway.

Cons: The location was too noisy for me. It was fine inside the cottage, but it was too noisy to sit outside without my headphones on. There is an apartment building on one side, but that was quiet. There is a parking area on the other side, with dumpsters that are used constantly by the local business. There is a hedge between the cottage and the parking area, which blocked the view, but not the noise of dumpster lids crashing down. The backyard, which is otherwise pleasant, borders an alley behind restaurants and businesses that face Front Street. The building directly behind the cottage has a large industrial exhaust fan that seems to run constantly. The bathrooms were fine, but there is no water pressure in the kitchen.

Summary: If you're going off to do things during the day and evening and don't need or want to sit outside at the cottage this is an outstanding location to book.

Loved our stay!!!!

Just back from a wonderful week on Maui staying in the Lahaina Plantation House. We loved this property and it's location to all the great spots in Lahaina Town. Contact and booking was very easy, and Leah was so helpful with questions we had about the property. The house has been beautifully restored and upgraded and with the provided onsite parking, you can enjoy walking to the many great restaurants, shops and local attractions of Lahaina. The house is equipped with everything you might need to enjoy your Lahaina stay. We have been traveling to West Maui for many years and found the Plantation House perfect for our needs. I rented a bike from Boss Frog's making it so easy to get around town for errands. We highly recommend the Plantation House and will for sure plan to be return guests. Thanks so much Leah and Roberta.
