This plantation style house is in such a great location to vacation in Hawaii. Located in the Historic District of Lahaina, Maui, moments to the ocean's edge and walking distance to harbor, museums, art galleries, shopping and a huge variety of great food, unbelievable food. When we bought this house it was in very bad shape and has taken years to restore to it's vibrant cheerful happy contemporary condition. It has a great welcoming embracing warm feeling and is loved and cared for very much. Just entering the house gives everyone the feeling of Aloha.
Vacationing in a house is living as a Maui resident, right in historic Lahaina neighborhood with easy access to the Lahaina harbor, museums, art galleries, shopping and a huge variety of oceanfront restaurants and great food such as Lahaina Grill, Kimo's, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Bubba Gumps, Lahaiha Yatch Club, Plantation House, Hard Rock Cafe, Ono Galato and many more. It is a super fun place to be.
Well, we're leaving the house at about 10:30 this morning, although we all would rather stay for another week or month. We had a great time. The house is really great.
We had an excellent stay at this property. Lahaina is an amazing beach town and everything is a few minutes' walk from this centrally located home. The home was extremely clean, well stocked with towels/pillows/cooking/utensils/dishware/etc, with comfortable beds, AC, and all your expected appliances. And (!), it's an exceptionally cute and fun little home to stay in.
We arrived late Friday night and stayed through the following Saturday. Everything about our stay was wonderful!
A home away from home. We were very pleased with the location the house. Close to shopping, restaurants and market. Just 1 block from the ocean. Very comfortable furniture. Kitchen fully furnished. Pleasantly surprised by the lovely gift of chocolate covered macadamia nuts upon our arrival. Had to go over a few hours to wait to flight and it was no problem. Definitely going back.
This cottage was perfect! After staying on the other side of the island for two weeks we were very happy to move to town. The cottage looked small from the outside but seemed spacious and very comfortable once inside. It was very clean and well maintained and decorated. We also appreciated that it was well equipped and even had a washer and dryer. The second bedroom has only a tub with a small shower attachment so we used the shower located off the master bedroom which also has access to the kitchen area. The back patio is perfect for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Thanks to the previous reviews we were careful not to lock ourselves out at the back door.
The location of this cottage is ideal, we were less than a block from shopping and restaurants! The parking in front of the house was an added bonus and much appreciated. We used Uber a couple of times and found them to be quick and reasonably priced.
Leah was easy to work with and provided quick responses to my questions. We are looking forward to staying here next year!
Simply perfect was our month long stay at 771 Luakini! Leah has taken great care to appoint the cottage to make your stay perfection. The kitchen is well equipped- not a thing we needed. My husband enjoyed reading on the front porch watching people go by, whereas I enjoyed the back porch and patio in the shadier parts of the yard. The vegetation around the house provides complete privacy from the apartment building on the one side. The gardener came twice while we were there to tidy branches, leaves and grass. Everything within walking distance from the wharf, sea wall, surfing, groceries, coffee- you name it! We rented bikes rather than a car and stored them safely along with our surf gear in the garage. Leah was great to work with and replied quickly to any inquiry. This cottage might look small on the outside, but it's spacious inside providing you with a feeling of home. The video is spot on of what you can expect. It was very clean and there were tons of towels for both the beach and bath. Having a full size washer and dryer was a bonus. Simply Perfect! Thank you Leah. MLou and Jim (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)
After a not so pleasant year, we were convinced that the vacation planned was a MUST. We carried on so thankful that we did. The cottage was super clean (I am so tough but passed my test). The location could not be better. The apartments located close by have very quite tenants. We almost thought our outdoor dining was a nuisance but we only met nice folks. This cottage is centrally located and we could not imagine a place that was better unless you lived there. The cottage is furnished with almost everything that you need. We restocked things that we used like paper towels and tp for the next guests as I would hope they would do for the next. Stay here, you will not be disappointed. You might want to book before too long for 2016 & 2017 because we have booked three weeks in March (counting the days until we are back to being relaxed)....and we have printed the flier for this location in our place of business as a solid referral "AVOID hotels, stay like you are home here".
We actually stayed in November 2013, but VRBO wouldn't let me go back another year for this very late review. My husband and I went to Maui with another couple and this home was just perfect, it had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a good sized sitting area and a well-equipped kitchen. One of the two rooms does have a nicer bathroom because it is bigger and the other bathroom has only a bathtub. My husband and I stayed in the smaller room with the smaller bathroom but it worked out fine because we just used the other shower when the couple was not at the house.
The house is located in the heart of Lahaina town. You literally walk out of the house and right into all of the action. We did have to drive a short distance to beaches but not a problem because there was always plenty of parking.
We would stay here again with another couple.
Maui is such a wonderful place of beauty & warmth, come visit, relax and get happy. Ulalena, (Maui's Broadway Theater), A story of Hawaii's People is preformed at West Maui's Live Theater venue, walking distance from the house.
