A Private Oasis in Catalina Foothills Estates- yet minutes away from everything.

In the 1930’s when the city of Tucson expanded beyond the Rillito River into the foothills of the Catalina Mountains, the first developer, John Murphey turned to Swiss architect Josias Joesler to work with him to create a series of large residences along the lower ridges.

Joesler, already well known on the Tucson scene, had developed a unique architectural style drawing on his European heritage while at the same time honoring the history and traditions of the Southwest region. The result was a collection of distinctive estates, many on five to ten acre lots, blending the best of the hacienda ranch house with Spanish colonial revival style.

On one such estate, the 2000 square foot guest house built in the 1970’s and reflecting the style of the original home, is now offered as the perfect vacation rental. The Casa features a great room; an elegant living room and a library area with TV and DVD, (complete with connections for lap-top and access to high speed internet) along with a dedicated dining area with table for six. The galley kitchen is separate and full size with all the amenities a chef could want. A compact laundry is located here.

The master bedroom has its own en-suite, while a second bedroom, perfect for overnight guests, has access to a second bathroom. Both bedrooms and the living/dining area have a northerly aspect with views to the mountains. Furnishings throughout are high quality and reflect the owners’ passion for travel and collecting.

The location is on the ridge top; private, secluded and almost quarter mile away from the street. Yet, only minutes away, are some of Tucson’s best shopping and dining. Five minutes to the north is Tucson’s newest shopping plaza, La Encantada, while to the south is St Phillips Plaza. No less than 18 restaurants including some of Tucson’s finest can be accessed within a mile north or south.
