Overview

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6

The Laurance Family home has been at the corner of Granite and Laurel streets for more than 80 years now. Standing tall, this delightful Victorian is centrally located in the charming town of Pacific Grove. It's but a short walk to Lover's Point beach and downtown. Our home is ideal for a family interested in touring 17 Mile Drive, Point Lobos or Big Sur. Golfers will be very close to all of the great courses in the area: Pacific Grove Municipal, Spyglass, Poppy Hills, Spanish Bay and Pebble Beach are all but a short drive from the house. Shoppers are close to the outlets and the shops of Carmel. Our world class aquarium and Cannery Row are nearby as well. Enjoy lounging in a comfortable living room with fireplace and large screen, high-definition television. House is wireless Internet equipped as well. Three bedrooms upstairs sleep two each. Pull out couches and basement bedroom for overflow. Fully-equipped kitchen and sunlit breakfast nook. We recently added a gas BBQ to the outdoor area, as well as an outdoor gas fireplace.

Ideal morning: Walk downtown for a newspaper and pastries. Return to house for coffee in the sunlit breakfast nook. Take a long walk down to Lover's Point and along the coast trail to Asilomar Beach. For runners, try the trail that goes to Fisherman's Wharf and back (about 6 miles round trip).

Ideal afternoon outing: Drive down highway one to Big Sur (about one hour). Check out Andrew Molera or one of the other amazing state parks. Stop for lunch on the way back at the River Inn. Enjoy a cool drink while dipping your toes in the Big Sur River. Stop at Point Lobos or downtown Carmel on the way home.

Ideal evening: Twilight back nine at Pacific Grove Municipal. Dinner at Roy's in Spanish Bay resort. Walk thru the dunes on the lighted boardwalks. A nightcap by the fire.

About Dave Laurance

My Dad actually owns the house but i take care of it for him. We (Mom, Dad and 3 siblings) grew up in this house and still love coming here. In fact it is your rental fees that allow us to keep it in the family. I have been in education for 25 years and, aside from my family, my great passion is golf.

Dave Laurance purchased this house in 1977

Pacific Grove home.

  • 5 of 5

Very happy with the historic house that fits the Pacific Grove experience so well. All functions (heat, electric, plumbing, wifi) worked well and adequate parking in area. Great location in P.G.

Location was amazing.

  • 5 of 5

We totally loved this older home in an awesome neighborhood. Lots of character, easy walk down to the walking/biking trails along the shore. If I could afford it, I would move to this neighborhood, haha.

Nice Home for visiting

  • 4 of 5

The house was very nice and the host was very nice. Be aware that the counters in the kitchen are wood so if you plan to cook there you will want to consider the countertops before planning to put hot or wet items on the counters. It is a great location with comfortable beds!

Beautiful home with so much warmth and many hidden treasures

  • 5 of 5

We travelled from Chicago to San Francisco and the first part of our trip was to Monterey Bay. We stayed in the Laurance Home last week for a few days. My husband and I have 18mo twins, and my friend and her husband have a 2 yo and a 4 yo. We all slept very comfortably as the home had a pack and play and plenty of extra mattresses. The home itself is incredible. Other reviewers complained that it was outdated, but we loved every historical detail of it. During our stay we ventured down to Big Sur for a day. The following day we did the aquarium in the morning and then walked to Old Fisherman’s Wharf to try and spot some seals. We wrapped up with dinner at the brewery. Pacific Grove is a beautiful little town, and the location of this home made all of our adventures that much more easy to get to.

Our trip was originally planned for a month ago, but one of my daughters came down with pneumonia. Dave allowed our family to reschedule with no penalty. He is a great guy, and I highly recommend this home to anyone traveling to the area!!

Cute home! Housekeeping could be a little more detailed. Otherwise Dave was very nice and accommodating.

Great old Victorian house. Perfect location for exploring PG. Would stay there again

  • 5 of 5

Had a family reunion in PG. Everyone loved the old house. It was a charming, well loved family home. We felt really comfortable there. It was close to lots of great restaurants and shops all within walking distance. The house was clean, the beds were very comfy and the kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils to make “home cooked” meals. Would stay there again.

Golf: While it is true that some of the world's very best golf courses are within minutes of the house, don't ignore Pacific Grove Municipal, which is just down the street. The back nine features some of the most scenic holes you will find anywhere. Furthermore, the price is reasonable and the difficulty of the course is quite manageable for the high handicapper.
