Nestled among a lovingly cared for home vineyard and gardens, this l.3 acre property is entered through river rock pillars and iron security gate down a 300 foot driveway past fruit trees to a large parking area. The property features a vineyard of Rhone varietals, seasonal creek, fire pit, and BBQ area with outdoor lights illuminating parking and Arizona flagstone walkways for your safe evening arrival.
Memories of your vineyard stay will last long after your reluctant good-byes. The owners' California Craftman home, built in 1910, was moved to the property in 1980 in two pieces from downtown Solvang, elevated, and the vacation unit built below. This lower level is bathed in sunlight off a flagstone patio complete with gas BBQ and cushioned armchairs around a glass-topped, umbrella table. French doors open to an inviting living room boasting a cozy window seat niche and deep, comfortable furniture. The den has a large collection of books, flatscreen TV, and iHome docking station for your iPod. The kitchen with granite countertops opens to its own covered patio and is a perfect setting to prepare your picnic lunch for the long-awaited wine tour or just the simple pleasure of morning coffee or tea. With one bedroom and two bathrooms, the serenity of your sleep is assured in the comfortable bed surrounded by gardens and vineyard.
With view of Santa Ynez Mountains, take a 10 minute walk to the YMCA or a 5 minute walk to gourmet market, coffee shop and deli with catering service. Bring your bicycle and enjoy miles of beautiful pastoral riding in the Santa Ynez Valley. So come away from your world for awhile to this quiet and gentle place in Solvang wine country in our comfortable spacious 1000 square foot suite.
In1970, we moved to the Santa Barbara area from Washington, D.C. with the dream of some day living in a place like this, with room to grow flowers, fruit trees and wine grapes. We purchased our 1910 California Craftsman home on an acre in Solvang in 1999. Maria got her dream home and Rafael got his dream property where he would plant a vineyard.
Maria paints nature-inspired watercolors and designs jewelry, weaves baskets in the Chumash Indian tradition, and uses found objects to create birdhouses among other crafts. Rafael, whose vocation and avocation is photography, chronicles the seasonal rhythms of the Santa Ynez Valley flora and fauna. We both work the vineyard and make the wine from the several red Rhone varietals we grow . Our greatest joy is to share our haven with family, friends, and visitors.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Vineyard Home.

Rafael and Maria
Thank you for sharing this wonderful spot. I loved the reading nook. the perfect spot to sip on coffee and enjoy a good book. Blain loved sitting outside at night and gazing at stars. This was a refreshing get away. Thank you for sharing a bottle of your wine. It was the perfect way to begin to unwind.
Rafael and Maria prepare a beautiful stay for their guests. The property was easy to locate, accessible off Mission Rd, and close to everything you'll need while in town. Both Rafael and Maria are warm, friendly, and incredibly talented. Their art work and photos decorate the inside of the property, and Rafael shared his love for wine making with us while letting us taste wine from his personal collection. We really enjoyed sitting outside in the morning, having our coffee and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The only reason we don't give this property five stars is because of the noise you can hear from upstairs while Rafael and Maria are getting up in the morning. It's not noisy where you can hear voices, just movement and the floor creaking. I'm a light sleeper and awaken easily. If you aren't and don't mind waking up early, this shouldn't be an issue for you.
Overall, If you are looking for a clean, private, and convenient location for your next stay in the SYV we highly recommend this location. We will likely return.
This place was just perfect! Rafael and Maria were the best hosts and the place was immaculate. It was the perfect location. Close to Santa ynez, los Olivos, and solvang. Also very close to great wineries. Rafael and Maria have their very own winery on property and it was just great to be a part of it. It was perfect for a wine country getaway.
Such a wonderful, charming place, with space and everything you need for a lovely stay in the heart of Santa Ynez Wine country! Rafael was so gracious. We loved the little touches (like a homegrown bottle of wine waiting on the table, a cozy reading nook, free wifi, separate spaces for different activities, original art on the walls...) Wish we could have stayed longer than two nights so that we had a chance to experience good weather - since there was a huge patio and a lovely garden we might have enjoyed had the weather cooperated! We will definitely be back to enjoy the Vineyard Home again.
My husband and I rented Rafael and Maria's place for a wedding we attended in Los Olivos. What a beautiful gem! We will be back again just to enjoy the quiet and beauty. This is our new destination.
