Nestled among a lovingly cared for home vineyard and gardens, this l.3 acre property is entered through river rock pillars and iron security gate down a 300 foot driveway past fruit trees to a large parking area. The property features a vineyard of Rhone varietals, seasonal creek, fire pit, and BBQ area with outdoor lights illuminating parking and Arizona flagstone walkways for your safe evening arrival.
Memories of your vineyard stay will last long after your reluctant good-byes. The owners' California Craftman home, built in 1910, was moved to the property in 1980 in two pieces from downtown Solvang, elevated, and the vacation unit built below. This lower level is bathed in sunlight off a flagstone patio complete with gas BBQ and cushioned armchairs around a glass-topped, umbrella table. French doors open to an inviting living room boasting a cozy window seat niche and deep, comfortable furniture. The den has a large collection of books, flatscreen TV, and iHome docking station for your iPod. The kitchen with granite countertops opens to its own covered patio and is a perfect setting to prepare your picnic lunch for the long-awaited wine tour or just the simple pleasure of morning coffee or tea. With one bedroom and two bathrooms, the serenity of your sleep is assured in the comfortable bed surrounded by gardens and vineyard.
With view of Santa Ynez Mountains, take a 10 minute walk to the YMCA or a 5 minute walk to gourmet market, coffee shop and deli with catering service. Bring your bicycle and enjoy miles of beautiful pastoral riding in the Santa Ynez Valley. So come away from your world for awhile to this quiet and gentle place in Solvang wine country in our comfortable spacious 1000 square foot suite.

About Rafael and Maria Maldonado, Jr.
In1970, we moved to the Santa Barbara area from Washington, D.C. with the dream of some day living in a place like this, with room to grow flowers, fruit trees and wine grapes. We purchased our 1910 California Craftsman home on an acre in Solvang in 1999. Maria got her dream home and Rafael got his dream property where he would plant a vineyard. Maria paints nature-inspired watercolors and designs jewelry, weaves baskets in the Chumash Indian tradition, and uses found objects to create birdhouses among other crafts. Rafael, whose vocation and avocation is photography, chronicles the seasonal rhythms of the Santa Ynez Valley flora and fauna. We both work the vineyard and make the wine from the several red Rhone varietals we grow . Our greatest joy is to share our haven with family, friends, and visitors. We look forward to welcoming you to our Vineyard Home. Maria and Rafael Maldonado, Jr.

Charming getaway with helpful hosts and amenities
We had a wonderful weekend celebrating our anniversary at Rafael & Maria's property. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, and filled with useful amenities such as coffee/tea & coffeemaker, kitchen supplies, bathroom toiletries, etc. I also loved the various reading nooks/spots around the apartment, and the outdoor patio space. The bluebird house/egg nest on the property was also very cool to see. Rafael was welcoming and helpful upon our arrival, and although their home residence is located above the rental apartment, the apartment still feels very private and quiet. It's also centrally located and walkable to a grocery store, which was convenient for picking up cheese and crackers to go with our complimentary bottle of Rafael's homegrown vineyard wine upon arrival!
Had a wonderful stay over the New Years holiday. Rafael and Maria were incredible hosts. A Vineyard House is in a perfect location to all the wineries, market and restaurants. The accommodations were very spacious, organized and clean. Beautiful setting as their property is surrounded by two vineyards. I hear Rafael even makes his own wine ;) Would highly recommend !
Great location, lot's of potential, friendly host
Raphael was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The property is an a great location. The living space is quite large for two people. The bed could be updated, a bit firm for our liking but overall, good value. The property is below the residence, which for some people is fine for others wanting more exclusive and quiet, may be something to consider. Would recommend overall. Lovely hosts!
Beautiful home away from home in beautiful Santa Ynez/Solvang
We had a wonderful time relaxing at this property and exploring nearby wineries. Raphael was a great host and we enjoyed his wine making experiences. Best place to stay for a couple wanting peace & quiet. Also loved Raphael's home-made syrah from his own Maldonado Vineyards which he provides for each visit. Cynthia & Tom Peterson, Irvine, CA.
Our stay was so relaxing everything we had hoped for for a weekend getaway
What warm, friendly, and amenable hosts Rafael and Maria are! Our private quarters below the main house (where they live) were so comfortable and beautifully decorated. We especially enjoyed the incredible artwork (photography and watercolors) which they themselves created and displayed in our "home away from home". Every amenity was provided and very corner of the place was immaculate. One night we decided to stay "home" and cook our own dinner. We were surprised to realize after shopping that there is no oven or stovetop but we made do with their great barbecue, microwave and fine assortment of kitchen supplies. We ate on the covered patio in the cool breeze. We enjoyed a great dinner with a complimentary bottle of wine from their vineyard. Our weekend was relaxing, quiet, comforting, and so pleasant.
