About the property

Ocean View Ranch House with Pool, Tenns Court, 3000 sq.ft Interior, Horses, Cows

Located on the North Shore of Oahu, in the charming town of Mokuleia 10 minutes west from Historic Haleiwa town, this is a one of a kind Hawaiian experience. Directly above where they filmed episodes of the hit TV show "LOST," this home is very secluded & has amazing views...

Perched on 60 private acres & surrounded by thousands of acres of private ranch lands with no neighbors for miles. One-of-a-kind ocean views from Kaena Point to Sunset Beach. The house is located in the middle of the ranch that goes from mountain top to the ocean, called an au'pua'a, about 1000 yards directly above one of Hawaii's best kept secret beaches, with miles & miles of sandy coastline.

The ranch has a variety of excellent restaurants nearby & is great for all water sports including snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, windsurfing & kayaking.

Other favorite activities include; private horseback rides on the ranch at the ranch stables located 400 yards from the house, beach rides from the beach stables, walks on the beach, fishing, skydiving, tennis, biking or hiking around the Western “Kaena Point” end of the North Shore.

The house has a private ocean view pool with a large grass yard. We also have a paddle/tennis sport court in the back of the house for your private use. Rackets, balls, pool water & fun included!

Notable visitors to the ranch property included Noel Coward, who authored “A Room with a View” while sitting on the lanai of the lodge, Prince Hussein of Jordan, the Marquis of Waterford, Eva Gabor & Ginger Baker.

Additionally, Prince Charles, Major Ronald Ferguson, General George S. Patton & various international stars, among others, have competed on the polo field below. The polo grounds are considered the birthplace of Hawaiian polo, which was especially popular in the late 1800's.

3,000 sq. ft. of interior space, 2 large ocean view decks, real Indonesian "Tiger Wood" floors, original restored old Pine Wood floors, granite counters, stainless appliances, 4 large bedrooms & 3 clean large bathrooms.

Bedrooms include:

King Kamehameha Suite - Large master with Ocean & pool Views, a separate sitting room with rattan couch & chairs, Mango Wood frame with California King with memory foam pillow top bed, in suite bathroom, spa tub & shower, walk in closet & large private deck.

Queen Liliokulani Suite - This guest master has great ocean views, Cherry wood queen bed with memory foam, in suite private bathroom & walk in closet.

Queen Emma Room - The garden view room has a Cherry wood queen bed with memory foam & a private deck.

Princes Kaiulani Room - The 4th room or kid’s room has two twin beds with memory foam & rattan head boards.

We also have a full size "Wood Punei" in the living room & a queen size blow up bed complete with pillows & sheets for those 'too happy to drive' extra guests.

All room beds have Hawaiian print comforters, 400-600 thread count cotton linens & soft pillows. The house is decorated with Hawaiian prints & classic portraits, teak furniture, 8 seat dinning room table, tall bar stools & sliding windows across the whole oceanfront.

We have wireless 3G/4G Internet access via an AT&T HOT SPOT that allows 10 computers to go online at once for your computer use. Maximum use per 7-day stay is 10GB of data which is more than enough for normal emails, browsing & basic up & downloads. If you need more GB, its available at market rates. We offer Direct TV on one 55' flat screen in the living room & a 27' flat screen in the master bedroom.

Seasonal horse Polo matches at Mokuleia Polo field located right on the beach below the property. Great fun for the whole family & you can go for a swim in the refreshing Pacific Ocean during half time!

Enjoy your vacation with total peace & quiet at the LOST Ranch.

Mahalo & Aloha!

About Laycie

We are an old Kama'aina family that has been living in Hawai'i since the late 1870's. This is our private ranch house & we have decided to share our peaceful slice of paradise with our extended family around the world.

Laycie purchased this house in 2002

Why Laycie chose Mokuleia

Total privacy, wonderful star gazing, absolute peace & quietness, directly above secluded & pristine white sand beaches. Only 5 minutes to Waialua Town,10 minutes to Hale'iwa town & 45 minutes to Honolulu Airport. Feels like you're on a private mountain on Moloka'i or Lanai. Real Hawai'i from a bygone era!

What makes this house unique

Located on the North Shore of Oahu, this is a one of a kind Hawaiian experience perched on 60 private acres & surrounded by paradise. Directly above where they filmed episodes of the hit TV show "LOST" and many other movies.

Guestbook comments from the manager

From Our Guest Book:

Cheers Cathy, we had a wonderfull time. The place is spot on. Cant wait to tell my friends about it. The bush was busy with critters. We enjoyed the peacocks ans the little black pigs scurring around. Hope to see you all soon. Just a heads up, you may want to trim the bougainvillia by the tennis court, hard to find the balls when you smackem out of the court.

Remote oasis!

  • 4 of 5

Difficult to find as gps brings you to the bottom of road so you must have written directions on you. Suggest arriving before dark and renting a 4wd as road is in poor condition where you climb the mountain. But once you arrive you don't want to leave! The pool was amazing and cleaned during our stay. The gardens were beautiful and house well maintained. It could use some work on the decks as nails are coming up and are sharp. It could also use beach chairs and pool floats. The BBQ did not work and we had difficulty getting it resolved but the housekeeper brought a charcoal one half way into the trip which we appreciated. The two larger rooms had great beds and there are lots of towels. We used the washer and dryer a lot. Tried to hike to peacock flats from house but it was too overgrown. Tons of noisy wildlife, pigs would wake us up at night but loved the birds and nearby horses. Enjoyed polo on Sunday, botanical gardens in Waimea and numerous beaches. The house sits farther from beach than indicated but worth it for the views and privacy.

We had to adapt to no air conditioning but that was the only negative about this rental.

Great memories

  • 5 of 5

So glad we picked this property for our family vacation, There were 9 of us (grandparents, parents kids) and there was plenty of room inside and out for all of us. The entry into the property is epic and the experience of staying here is so much different and better than staying in the city. You really feel like you are in a different, special place. The drive to the property isn't bad at all from Honolulu(we are from LA). Craig was easy to work with and responsive. The house itself is spacious and clean and well stocked. Great beach just down from the property and north shore towns are close by. We would definitely stay here again. This property is surrounded by nature so if you are looking for a sterile "hotel" environment this not it, but if understand that this is like living at a nice ranch then you'll love it.

Great choice for us

  • 5 of 5

Great quiet property on North Shore. Perfect for our family of 10 with 2 grandparents, 2 sets of parents and 4 kids. Never felt crowded. Lots of room outside for kids to run and they loved the pool. We loved waking up to the birds every morning and taking walks down the road. You do have to drive a little ways to get to stores/restaurants/beaches with more gentle waves for kids but it was worth it for us to be away from the crowds and have room for the family to stretch out. Only thing I would change would be air conditioning for the few hours in the evening that it was pretty hot but it did cool down overnight and there were fans.

Wedding Stay-cation

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just stayed at the Lost ranch the week prior to our wedding that was held at Dillingham Ranch. The home and property are amazing and gave us close access to our wedding venue. The remoteness and quiet were amazing while having all the amenities we could ever need. The views during the day are great and even better at night. All of the rooms are comfortable and our family who came from off island to stay with us loved the home and grounds. There is plenty of fruit trees and nature to take in while at the Lost Ranch that you won't want to leave. Craig was also a pleasure to work with and always responsive to inquiries. This is an amazing home to enjoy the North Shore for a long weekend or full vacation. You'll need a vehicle with plenty of clearance since part of the road back to the ranch can be rough but it's worth it.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for choosing the LOST Ranch as home base for your big week & congratulations on tying the knot! We're thrilled to have been able to share our property with you to enjoy during this special time in your lives which you both will never forget. The road up to the house is a little bumpy in a couple of areas, but it's still easily accessible with normal cars, trucks & vans (our cleaner who is up there weekly drives a mini van). As you say, the house & property are definitely worth the rustic country drive which only adds to the experience of being on a real secluded ranch. Best of luck to both of you in your new life together & hopefully you'll come back & stay again, maybe during an anniversary. We'd love to offer you a return renter discount when you do!

Family trip

  • 5 of 5

Lost ranch is a wonderful home for families of any age to stay. The view is amazing and the spacious property and home allowed space for all. Discovering all the fruit trees was a delight! Stickball on the lawn and lounging in the pool were just a few of the activities we enjoyed with a BBQ each night. Craig is friendly and responsive to all needs. The cows/pigs/peacocks were the highlight for the kids. It is located out of town which was what we wanted but nice to know ahead of arrival.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your time at the LOST Ranch! Whenever I go up there, I'm instantly relaxed as I feel I've left civilization behind completely.... well, almost completely, as the house still has all the amenities you'd find in a home in the middle of a suburban neighborhood. The main difference is that your only "neighbors" at the LOST Ranch are the peacocks & the horses! Anyway, thanks again for staying with us & please come back again soon so we can treat you to a return renter discount!
