What a view!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed 10 nights at this cottage in Grand Marais.

We had a great time here. The cottage had everything we needed, was very clean and comfortable. They left us some wine for our anniversary, now that was a nice surprise. (Thank you )

The pictures don't really prepare for how beautiful the view is. Great sandy beach! I couldn't wait for the sun to come up,so I could see the beauty outside. It was always changing. After several walks we felt they had the nicest view of all the rentals available on the bay.

We liked how close everything was to the cottage, whether we were going to Picture Rock to hike, shopping, or just wanted to grab a bite to eat. The town is charming.

We found the owners, and the people in town to be very friendly and helpful.

We look forward to returning in the future.

My first time in Grand Marais was awesome. It first started when we opened the door to our home for the week. It had a wrap around deck and a wall of windows with a complete water view and very private. Our friends stayed in campground (walking distance 10 min.- thru town and shops) their beach was beautiful-but rocky, and our beach was sandy (perfect for children). The home was fully supplied and VERY clean. The 2nd bathroom was great and they have a CD player, TV, and many great books about the area. Owners really thought about their guest- they have a box with brochures on all the surrounding day excursions in the UP. Why would anyone stay in a motel when you can stay in this wonderful home with a fully stocked kitchen, right on the beach, your own firepit, outdoor grill and (2) bathrooms? Just remember to bring lots of layers of clothes- the owners can't control your weather experience! Thanks Tom & Jo for sharing your home with our family! Kathleen

Perfect getaway....

  • 5 of 5

After working six/seven-day weeks since May, our long Labor Day weekend was delightful and relaxing. Long walks on the beach or into town, reading on the deck, swimming every day and short day-trips were fun...and the cottage as our home base was perfect!

Loved it! Location is amazing.

Our family of two adults and two children had an incredible vacation at this lovely home. The house itself was very comfortable, although my kids had to adapt to no bathtub. But they did fine taking showers for the first time. The home's location is outstanding not only for being just steps from the beach and water but also for being a few blocks from restaurants and stores. We had the BEST blueberry muffins at West Bay Diner--I wish I could've brought a dozen home with us! Every night we were treated to stunning sunsets, each a different color than the one before. One night the sunset was purple and pink; the next it was fiery red and orange. We enjoyed picking up beautiful Lake Superior rocks along the shore. (The selection along the beach at Woodland Park was the best we found.) One night, we built a fire in the fire pit and sat outside in the cool night. It was particularly dark because a new moon was just days away, and I was able to see satellites in the sky and the Milky Way! We will never forget this vacation. Thank you so much, Tom and Jo! P.S. Thanks for the bottle of wine--we really enjoyed it!

A Perfect Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

Wish I were still in this lovely, comfortable, welcoming house! Hard to say which is better: the excellent location or the amenities of the house. Sitting inside reading or out on the deck, waking in the morning or eating dinner, you always have an incredible view of the lake. The house is perfectly maintained with all those little extras that make a stay memorable: comfortable mattresses, plenty of hot water, appliances that work, beautiful stones from the shore, and the owner's own art. Where else can you see sunrise and sunset from the same spot, or go to sleep to the sound of the loons' calls? Where else can you walk to a funky diner with great home-cooked food, plenty of local history, and a gorgeous beach covered with amazing rocks?

Thanks to the owners for letting us share this, and for taking such good care of us!

Nice place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I stayed here for a week. Plenty of room and all amenities. The property was better than the photos and the owners make sure all questions are answered and more. Renters feel very welcomed. The cottage is close to everything you would want in Grand Marais. Very relaxing, very beautiful. I would highly recommend this property.
