Wonderful Time

  • 4 of 5

My family had been planning this mountain vacation for a while. We usually take vacations to a beach location but decided to switch things up and try something new. We had heard so much about Maggie Valley and decided that if we were going to the mountains, we wanted a cabin with a wonderful view. I chose this cabin mainly because of the fantastic view and I was glad I did. It is located right within Maggie Valley and it is high up on the moutain. The road going up to it is very steep and narrow and was extremely difficult to navigate the first time going up. After a couple times of going up and down - we got the hang of it. The cabin was clean and the view was exactly what we were wanting. We stayed an entire week and had so much to do during our week. We spent two days at Cherokee, two in Asheville, one in Waynesville and one exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway. We saw The Biltmore, waterfalls, did a couple hiking trails, saw the elk.... we did so much during the week and it was always nice to come back to the cabin and relax on the back deck. We made dinner several nights at the cabin and the stove and all the appliances were easy to use. We also used the gas grill one night to make hamburgers. The propane tank connected to the grill was empty, but thankfully there was a new one on the deck - we had no problem swapping out the tanks. We went to Ingles in Waynesville for our grocery needs and also the closest trash drop-off is there as well. The description of the cabin states that it is fully stocked with towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc. We did not bring any of that for that reason. However, halfway through the week, we completely ran out of toilet paper and paper towels and had to make a trip to the store specifically for that - which was a bit inconvenient. With having only 9 people in a cabin that sleep 14-15, I didn't expect that. Also, towels are supplied, but a couple of our family members mentioned they had a sour smell - almost like a previous guest left them wet too long. We had to take all of the towels and wash them in hot water with Tide to try and get rid of the smell. It wasn't that big of a deal and I can understand that happening in a rental. We also used the fire pit out front for smores one night, but we had to add a bunch of rocks to build it up. There is also no chairs, so you have to sit on the ground. It would be nice if the firepit was improved a bit. Overall, we really enjoyed the cabin and had a great week.

Exactly as pictured! Beautiful home with breathtaking views!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful home away from home. My family of 13 stayed very comfortably. We were there to attend and celebrate college graduation. Ages 3 to 92, this home accomadated perfectly! The children's room of bunks and trundles provided the perfect setting for a memorable sleepover for our five grandchildren. My 92 year old mom maneuvered easily throughout the living area. The kitchen appliances made it easy for my son in law chef turn out amazing dinners. This home has it all! The drive up the mountain to hickory lodge is literally breathtaking but worth every second of gasps. Beautifully decorated but very comfortable- you will feel you are at home of your dreams. My family will enjoy sharing this memory of a lifetime. Thank you.

Perfection above the clouds...

  • 5 of 5

We (12 friends from Florida) booked the cabin for four nights in January...hoping for snow. The drive up to the cabin was half the adventure. (we laughed & shrieked the whole ride up...lol) The cabin was absolutely gorgeous and the view above the clouds was breathtaking. The icing on the cake was the sleet and snow on the 3rd day - perfect! We hope to book it again for next January. Seriously, once you stay here, you won't want to stay anywhere else.

Majestic Hickory Lodge

  • 4 of 5

We celebrated my husbands 60th birthday with my sister, brother in law and another couple who are special friends. The cabin was beautiful, especially the cathedral ceiling in the upstairs living room with all of the mountian top views. The morning sun rises were spectacular as we sat on the deck with our coffee. We had a lot of fun playing pool and relaxing in the jacuzzi also! All of the bedrooms were spacious and the bathrooms were supplied with towels, wash clothes and tp. I would definetly stay again. The only negative part is the steep drive up to the cabin and the gas grill's propane tank was empty. Our husbands had motorcycles and we had a four wheel drive truck. We all road the tail of the dragon near Robinsville, and we all agreed that the drive up to the cabin was more challenging! Not for the weary at heart

Owner's Response: We are so happy that you had a great time at the cabin. Thank you for the kind words about the cabin. I'm so incredibly sorry that you had an empty gas tank on the grill. I appreciate you letting us know about it though so that I can remedy the situation. I sincerely hope that we see you back at the cabin some time soon.

Exactly What We Were Looking For!

  • 5 of 5

We took a one of our volunteer teams for a weekend retreat with their spouses and this cabin (along with another one of the owner's cabin's in Waynesville, NC) was the perfect fit for what we needed! Lots of space, beautiful view, close to Soco Falls and some local shopping. It was perfect! The customer service with reservations was second to none. The process could not have been smoother or the people more pleasant to work with! Top notch! Highly recommended!
