Why Suzanne Egress chose Davis

We previously owned a condo no more than 100 yards away from where our home sits. We always admired the architecture of the home and always thought how nice it would be to call it our own. When the opportunity arose we couldn't pass it up. Cannan Valley is a gorgeous area to live in as well as visit. With the low humidity and abundant snowfall it is a true joy year round!

What makes this chalet unique

Fantastic views and proximity to everything.

Clean, cute and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed staying in this home. The location is great. Just a short walk to the slopes. The house is super cute and felt very lodgish. It was clean and well stocked. Our group was 2 families with 4 kids total. 2 young boys and 2 young girls. Sleeping arrangements were tight with the girls in one bed and the boys on pull out and an air mattress. As the kids get older we will probably grow out of this home but for this trip it was comfortable.

My reason for 4 stars and not 5 was just for lack of space to put things. Mainly in the kitchen. There are a lot of knick knacks/Christmas decorations which are tasteful and cute but they take up valuable space in an already small home. But that's just being picky because it's a great vacation home and you can tell its loved and well cared for.

Thanks to the owners of this home and Timberline resort for a fabulous family get away.

Beautiful Slopeside Chalet

  • 5 of 5

Perfect slope side chalet for friends or family. Beautiful condo with easy walk to end of salamander and hopped right on trail for 4 great days of skiing. Very functional mudroom and well stocked kitchen with hot tub and great entertainment system. Kids and grandparents loved it while wife and I skied. Perfect and will be back.

Perfect Getaway, with Great Charm and Character

  • 5 of 5

First, off Suzanne was amazing to deal with! She was quick to respond and very helpful about what the vicinity had to offer!

We loved the layout of the home. The breakfast nook was great, it offered a well lit area anytime of the day. The home had everything we needed and we enjoyed every amenity it offered! The location was perfect for the hiking and exploring that we planned for our extended weekend. We hope to get back sometime again this year and hope to again reserve this gem in the mountains! Thank you :)

Terrific base for nature lovers

  • 5 of 5

We had to find 3 nights' housing for a family wedding at the amazing but remote Bear Rocks Wlderness Area of DollySods WVA. 3 nights in the nearest hotel, the state park lodge...despite being beautiful, still a hotel room...did not appeal. This chalet rental appeared to be, and was, a terrific alternative. Slt lower price, 3 times the sleeping accommodations with 2 nice bathrooms, plus a wonderfully designed and outfitted kitchen and living room in a beautiful setting. Amazing.

We thoroughly enjoyed hiking and just being in this very special area of W VA. Rode the state park ski lift up mountain to then walk just downhill, ahh, on the Bald Knob Trail. Ski areas in summer are such lovely mountain meadows. Blueberries, raspberries, blackcaps, deer and nountaintop views.

But Dolly Sods...never seen the likes of it.

We want to return. To this house and the Canaan Valley in spring/summer/fall.

Must add though, this is not a rental for folks with bad knees. Its architectural delights span no less than 8 levels of the A frame. You climb a few stairs between every room. Fun, and privacy-promoting, but not for folks with mobility issues.

Wonderful Family Ski Chalet

  • 5 of 5

Let me start by saying that the home owner, Suzanne, was wonderful and easy to work with. That alone makes the vacation experience that much better. My family set out to find a house within walking distance of the slopes at Timberline. This chalet was perfect. We could walk down the hill and past the condos to the base of Salamander in about 60 seconds. Furthermore, we could ski down either Salamander or any combination of slopes from the top to White Out and walk down hill back to the house in the same 60 seconds. My 6 year old did not once complain about the distance and we made several trips to and from the house each day. In many cases, you couldn't park your car at the lodge and walk a shorter distance.

Inside the house you will find a charming, unique design suitable for a small to mid size group. We had 4 adults, 1 child and an infant. We were very comfortable. The kitchen is the highlight of the house. It is beautiful and very functional. Our favorite touch was the sleigh used as a pan holder from the ceiling. Both the upstairs and downstairs living areas were very comfortable and the hot tub is a perfect end to a long day of skiing. There is also a separate ski entrance that has both inside and outside ski racks. It was nice being able to store our gear out of the way of everything else.

Overall, our experience was top notch. I would certainly stay in this house again and absolutely recommend it to those looking for a great value that is nearly ski in/ski out.

Owner's Response: Todd, I really appreciate your comments. Thank you so much for the kind words. You are just as wonderful and I enjoyed speaking to you and am so happy everything worked out perfectly for your family vacation. The short walking distance to the slopes and the location of our home (not having to drive up the monster hills) is what sold us. In fact, I love sitting at the kitchen table watching vehicles try to conquer the huge Slopeside Dr. hill. We love our home and am glad you found it comfortable. The sleigh pot & pan holder is one of my favorites too. I hope i hear from you again in the future. Sincerely, Suzanne
