Nestled in the beautiful Kawuneeche Valley just minutes from Grand Lake, Colorado
Combining rustic charm with beautifully updated mountain decor, our mountain home sits on the shore of private Sun Valley Lake with spectacular lake and mountain views from our bedroom picture windows.
There is breathtaking beauty all around, with Rocky Mountain National Park, Arapahoe National Forest and the Colorado River within a few hundred feet. Includes fishing rights on private lake and direct access to Colorado River. Also, a canoe and rowboat are available for our guests to use.
Snowmobiling or ATV from cabin, national forest access less than one-fourth mile away. Rentals available in town.
Randy and Cindy Hodapp and three kids own this nice cabin in the mountains
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2002
We love the mountains and decided it would be nice to have a place called our own where we can go and get away and enjoy the peace and quiet mountain area. Also, we are close to the Rocky Mountain National Park where you can enjoy seeing all the animals.
There is a lot to do in the Grand Lake area, golfing, fishing, hiking, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling. Also, there is a lot to do in town, Grand Lake where you can sit and look at the boats, dining and things for the kids to do (putt-putt and bumper cars)
Wonderful time over Christmas in this cozy cabin. Very charming and so beautiful and peaceful
We stayed here when our RV didn't happen. We were sitting in a parking lot scrolling thur VRBO looking for somewhere desperately to stay. We had just drove up from Nashville. I tried emailing several places and Cindy was the first to get back to me and WOW were we lucky. This turned out to be one of the best vacations ever. The cabin was very clean and well stocked for anything you could want to do or cook. The beds were comfortable. The lake out back was awesome for the kids they had a great time canoeing and fishing. The view was to die for. It is far enough away from everything to feel like you are away from everything but close enough to get to anything if you need it. Wildlife was everywhere and RMNP is at you back door.
We have rented many cabins in the past by Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) and we liked this the best! One can walk into park, the river is close by for fly fishing, kids loved fishing on the lake and using the paddle boat. Cabin has everything for a family get away and then some.
Viewed lots of wildlife close to the cabin. Horse back riding stable just a half a mile away and rides go into RMNP. We rode our bikes, went hiking, boating and wildlife viewing and enjoyed a couple of fine meals in the town of Grand Lake as well as at the Historic Grand Lake Lodge. Had family from Florida staying with us at the cabin and we all agree we need to come again. We would highly recommend this cabin for the full Colorado and RMNP experience.
My family had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It was very clean and had everything we could possibly need. The beds were great. We were pleasantly surprised at how quiet the area was. The layout of the cabin was a little unclear, 2 of the bedrooms share a half wall and the twin beds are in a loft that would really only be suitable for school age kids. (but this worked out just fine for us)
The lake provided plenty of fun for the kids and adults alike and the Colorado was only a couple minutes walk away. The owners were very easy and pleasant to work with. We hope to make an annual visit!
I have rented this Grand Lake Cabin on two separate occasions, and I highly recommend this property. The owners are delightful, and provide a Mountain Retreat that is SUPURB in accommodations, decor, facilities, and comfort. Sun Valley Lake is a short drive from Grand Lake, and this particular cabin sits on the waterfront of this serene, crystal clear alpine lake. I particularly enjoyed using the Canoe and Paddle Boat to enjoy the lake, and the fishing is excellent. Whether a few days, or a few weeks, your stay will be memorable!
The cabin has 3 sleeping areas, as well as a loft for the kids (or guests that Snore..LOL) 2 bathrooms are also available, and ALL of the ammenities you would need to make it your HOME AWAY FROM HOME. I highly suggest a rental in the FALL, so as not to miss the "bugleing Elk" that frequent the area at night. And if you're a STARGAZER..you are in for a treat! ENJOY!
