About Rick & Sherri Agnew
Sherri and Rick Agnew Owners and Island neighbors. We are professionals in Indiana. We love coming to Cayo Costa to enjoy the peaceful Island life. We bought the Junonia Cottage in 2009, it is reminiscent of a fine rare shell known as the 'Junonia'. This is our treasure to share with all who would like to experience our bare foot lifestyle. In hopes that you can recapture the invigorating sensation of mental and physical well being that we experience by the sea. As the pace of life speeds up, we escape to Cayo Costa to fid our true balance. It is like recharging our internal batteries. Sherri is an interior designer and Rick is a commercial real estate broker by trade. We live in Columubus, Indiana and come the island on and off throughout the year. We have 'Sand Dollar De LaCosta' as our home away from home. We have restored the Junonia beach house as it was originally built, totally Island style.

Why Rick & Sherri Agnew chose Captiva
Our island is off the grid, private, majestical and spiritual place. You will want come to see what we mean and why we want to share the experience with you. There is an abundance of great views, shelling, fishing and wildlife. 1 mile from Cabbage Key's "Hamburger In Paradise" restaurant and bar. On the Blue Calusa Waterway kayaking route. It is always hard to leave.
What makes this Cottage unique
Cayo Costa beach is as isolated as is beautiful. Many times one can go there and truly be all by yourself, which is rare for Florida and the USA! It is often referred to as 'the best kept secret in south Florida'. Western sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico!

Don't hesitate to book this Cottage!
We loved our weekend Cayo Costa at the Junonia by the Sea. It is so charming and welcoming and has so many special decorator touches that really made our stay enjoyable. It was an unbelievably unique experience to be in such a secluded area. We appreciated the the peace and quiet of the Cayo Way. Our children 11, 7, and 2 enjoyed fishing (caught a shark a snook, and a hammerhead shark!) and the shelling was unbelievable!....Like nothing we have ever seen before! Each day we loved exploring the beaches and the island on the clubcar (a fun addition to the stay!) We had several cool days while we were there, so we look forward to returning in warmer weather for an entirely different experience. Thank you for opening your cottage to us and allowing us to experience "Old Florida Living."
Justin and family,
I think you earned your Cayo Costa stripes! The cold, the rain, and the 70-80 mph winds make you a official member. So glad you enjoyed it enough to plan to come back since you were dealt a tough hand by mother nature!
We enjoy watching folks like yourself make a good time out of it regardless. See you soon.

Our second stay at Junonia was as great as the first! It feels like our own private island. We love the unplugged feeling, the walks on the beach, the connection to nature. We saw baby wild boars on the cart path. The house is adorable, with many decorating touches by Sherry, a professional interior designer. The sunsets are always an event, and the rhythm of island life is infectious. We sleep well, relax, fish, shell, read at night. The owners are great and very accommodating. We all look forward to this all year. We have already booked again for next year.
Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time! We did truly enjoy Milo's poem he left in the guest book about the his time and adventures on the island. Thanks agin and see you next year same time.

Magical Week @ Junonia By The Sea
Our week at Junonia By The Sea was magical. The cottage is so welcoming and comfortable, after a day of shelling and fishing it was like coming home. All the personal touches and information made every day enjoyable. It is difficult to find words to properly define the sites and views from the third floor patio from colorful sunsets, juvenile eagles practicing flying techniques, to nine frigate birds emerging overhead flying to the gulf. Thank you Sherri and Rick for sharing this island get away.
This was our second trip to the Island, but first stay in the Junonia. Their were 4 of us and WE ALL LOVED THIS HOUSE! It's old Florida, charming, comfortable and the views are just amazing. It has a great electric set up and the house is totally self functioning, no need to start a generator, it does it for you. The weather was a bit dodgy during our stay, but the adorable house, fabulous shelling and fishing made up for the weather for sure. Sadly next year we will need a bigger house as our party will be 6, but I know we will be back!
A True Getaway Adventure!
Exactly what we were looking for...a true getaway. Rick and Sherri were easy to communicate with when booking/making/adjusting plans. Captain Dan was the same with water taxi service to the island. We pre-ordered food from Publix by fax and it was ready to go for us. We arrived and things were just as described- wonderful, quaint, cozy...paradise-like. We had been to Cayo a couple of times previously just for day trips and knew we'd love Junonia By The Sea. Pretty great staying out there with conveniences, but no firm plans. Warm days were beach time (technically every day was beach time) and cooler ones we explored, fished, biked and more. Met some families, residents and hikers. All were great to talk to and we never saw too many for too long. Great Stuff: The house was fantastic and our 7 yr old loved 'his room' downstairs and the spiral staircase, the club car is key for getting around, no problem with electric capacity in the home, shelling, fishing (no water flow to the lagoon hotspot when we were there), club car to state park/rent bikes (they have some snacks/bait/food/gifts too), on cool days we loved the southwest facing deck (protected from wind and warm). Neat Stuff: Alligator not far from the dock, manatees, dolphins, an osprey picking up my live pinfish bait on the gulf side and flying away with it, Ricky the palm tree racoon, the weird things that blow up on shore after high winds, watching the winter olympics after a long day of playing and having family island version events the next day. Good Times Gone Bad (I can laugh now): When an osprey took my pinfish bait up in the air... along with the rod/reel from it's holder. I think my blazing surf running speed surprised him and he dropped it. Rod recovered about 25 yds out! Not so lucky bay side @ State Park on a different day-something big took a rod/reel so fast that there was only a bubble trail. Nice setup too. And the only thing I really wanted to say goodbye too...Mr. Stingray. Mr. Stingray-Why'd you have to be so mean? I must have forgotten to shuffle. 6 hours of wicked pain ensued. It's fun going to a place that is the catalyst for creating family memories, experiences and adventure. If that's what you are after, this is your place. Sadly, our island adventure had to come to an end, but we continued the fun by exploring Matlacha, Punta Gorda and Fort Myers for a few days. We'd love to come back. Thanks for a great vacation!
Best Vacation Ever!!!!!!!!!
My family and I had the best vacation of our lives on Cayo Costa and Junonia by the Sea was everything we expected and so much more. The view from the house was absolutely breathtaking. Our girls, ages 15 and 10, positively LOVED the house, the beach, and the shells they found are still a huge topic with all of thier friends. It was definitely an unforgettable expirience that we would recommend to everyone we know.
