About Taylor Plumblee
Previously used as our private vacation residence, this home is designed around a fun and eclectic sensibility. We like to have a good time and our home reflects that attitude. It is not your typical mountain home. It's shabby chic with a ton of class thrown in. We love going to our home and it is so charming we feel like we are in the south of France or a charming villa. It's our retreat from a hectic life, our private oasis and a place of peace and serenity. We welcome you to our home which is decorated with fantastic and eclectic pieces of art and personalized objects d'art. We hope you will enjoy Morning Star Cottage as much as we do - we are so happy that many of our guests want to come back time and again.

Why Taylor Plumblee chose Ivy Hill
We have been traveling to the mountains of North Carolina for years and love the Maggie Valley/Waynesville area because it is so close to SO many places. When a friend put this home on the market we decided it was time to buy so that our family could own a piece of mountain magic. It has proven to be that and more. The one reason we like this home specifically is year round access and the close (less than 10 minutes) to the Blue Ridge Parkway and access to Asheville (25 minutes if Linda is driving). We love this home so much that we hosted a destination wedding for our oldest daughter, where family and friends joined us in the Blue Ridge. It was a wonderful experience, but then again, everything is wonderful at this home. It's a slice of heaven on earth.
What makes this Cottage unique
Our home offers year round living and while not mountain top - it is peaceful, serene and surrounded by the sound of rustling trees and lush mountain settings. It has super easy access to surrounding towns and cities and a driveway that is accessible year round. It is also located in Maggie Valley Club which is one of the premier mountain golf courses in all of Western North Carolina and some great winter skiing at Cataloochee Ski Resort. The location is ideal for traveling to art events, fall leaf looking, arts, mountain music festivals and Lake Junaluska. There is so much to see and do in Western North Carolina and our home is a perfect mountain getaway in a charming and chic setting. The back porch is the crown jewel of the house and where we spend most of our time as we watch the fireflies light up the NC sky at night. It's pure magic.

A dream come true
Morning star lived up to it's poetic name with lovely interior decor that made us feel at home the minute we walked through the door. The living spaces are roomy and light-filled. The furniture is comfy. The master bed is of the highest quality. The east-facing porch and deck made us feel like we were in a bird house, perched above the golf course, tucked into the trees. The owners responded immediately and just as one would hope, to a minor issue that arose during our stay. We will be returning!
Gorgeous view in a cozy home
Amazing home! Super clean and extremely cozy. This is by far the cleanest VRBO home I have stayed in. I take my hat off to the housekeeer. Comfortable beds. Great location. Breathtaking views from the awesome deck! Taylor is very kind and responds quickly to any concerns or needs of her guests. I will definitely be back!
Comfy and peaceful cottage
We met our grown children at Morning Star Cottage for Thanksgiving. We enjoyed the Blue Ridge Mountains and nearby waterfalls. The cottage was so relaxing we chose to eat leftover turkey the next day instead of going out to eat which was our original plan. The porch(s) are awesome and the area is so peaceful! It was a great choice for our Thanksgiving meeting place.
A wonderful mother/daughter getaway!
Overall it was a most enjoyable three days. Loved the atmosphere,,like a home away from home. It's convenient to all we wanted to do. Was in Maggie Valley often when children were young, about fifty years ago!! So much still the same. The MV restaurant still has awesome trout.
First time ever we never even turned on the tv! Spent a lot of time on the porch. The reason I couldn't give five stars was the musty odor in the downstairs bedroom. Even with the dehumidifier was very noticeable. But I understand...I had a house in the mtns and had the same thing.
Other than that, was a great time. Hope we can come again next fall.
The cabin was cozy and comfortable. It had everything we could’ve wanted. Nicely decorated, in the same style as my home. Loved all the birds from the deck. Ate a lot of good food at local restaurants & did a ton of shopping. Loved the local towns
Wonderful location and great outdoor space
We loved staying here, there are tons of restaurants and activities close by. A short drive to Asheville. It is a clean place with lots of comfy couches and chairs and a great deck that is screened in that we spent hours on. There was plenty of space and all the amenities you could ask for, even a keurig. We hope to make this an annual trip.
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments Ashley. We hope you will return and enjoy a trip to Western Carolinas. Some new restaurants have recently opened up and you will find some great dining upon your next visit! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas.
