About Taylor Plumblee
We are native Floridians and work in Orlando, FL. When our oldest daughter elected to attend college in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, we decided to buy a home away from home for her and for us. We didn't realize that 15 years later, we would still come here and feel the pull of the Blue Ridge. Growing up in Miami, I learned about the Blue Ridge Mountains from my father who was raised in the hills and hollers of Kentucky. I believe that once you have the mountain bloodline...it is a lifelong thing. When my Dad first walked in the house so many years ago, he cried. True story. I know he felt that a little part of him was back "home" and walking the range with his beloved Father. I can relate. Now, we keep making new memories in this home. With our extended family, we love bringing the grandkids to the house and make it to the mountain home as often as our work will allow. I love to go up alone just to reset my soul from the hectic pace of a busy work life. We have thought about selling the house and getting another but we keep coming back to our current location, the design layout, and the feeling of peace. Some things can not be bought and we know this is the right house for us and for generations to come. Please enjoy your stay.

Why Taylor Plumblee chose Maggie Valley
I sell real estate for a living so I know that finding the right home is a process. It's instictive. But for me, I KNEW the minute I walked into the home with my Mother. It just has a great vibe and a wonderful bright design. The home is mostly updated and is not a typical NC cottage. Vaulted ceilings, fireplace, two living rooms, wonderful dining area, and a porch that will call you to sit down and zone out. I was literally blown away by the majesty and beauty of the property that sits on almost 2 acres. We bought the home the next day. My Mother loved the house dearly and the next many years, it was my Mom's favorite place to relax. Life is a battle, life is a series of steps, this home is a place of quite refuge and strength. We have had so much fun, so much laughter, so much joy in this house. This is a home full of love. This is home.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage offers year round living and while not mountain top - it is peaceful, serene and surrounded by the sound of rustling trees and lush mountain settings. It has super easy access to surrounding towns and cities and a driveway that is accessible year round. It is also located in Maggie Valley Club which is one of the premier mountain golf courses in all of Western North Carolina and some great winter skiing at Cataloochee Ski Resort. The location is ideal for traveling to art events, fall leaf looking, arts, white water rafting, mountain music festivals and Lake Junaluska. There is so much to see and do in Western North Carolina and our home is a perfect mountain getaway in a charming and chic setting. The back porch is the crown jewel of the house and where we spend most of our time watching the fireflies light up the Carolnia sky. It's God's fireworks. it's magic.

Charming Mountain Treehouse
Everything was abundantly provided. The driveway approach was a switchback because of the elevation & confounded us at first, but a different approach solved that snag & it was worth the joy of feeling like we were in a luxurious treehouse❗️Waynesville with it’s delightful shops & delicious restaurants was very nearby & central to all the other areas we wanted to visit! We loved our stay in Morning Star Cottage!
Our Stay in Serenity
We loved our 2nd stay in the darling cottage . It is so comfortable and relaxing. We love the Maggie Valley /Waynesville area. People are so fr.iendly. It was wonderful staying at Morning Star
It was wonderful having you back at our home which we also consider your home! Thank you for taking such good care of Morningstar. We look forward to seeing you again.
New Years visit
Would have given 5 stars if the cookware (pots & pans, skillets, etc.) had been better. We really enjoyed the cabin. It was clean and very comfortable. Loved the wood fireplace and the openness of the main living area with all the glass doors and decks.
Thank you so much for your input and we will look into this. Happy to have hosted your for the New Years!
Home away from home! Comfy, cozy, and gracious and generous owners
My family had a mandatory evacuation because of Hurricane Florence. We chose the mountains of NC as a place of refuge. I believe the good Lord guided me to choosing Morning Star Cottage out of the many options available. Ms. Linda, the owner, was the most courteous hostess. She was readily accessible and responsive to our questions, offered suggestions for places to eat, exercise, & shop. This home already has everything you need on a vacation. It was a Pleasant surprise and money saver to find an ample supply of paper towels, toilet paper, everyday cleaning products, sponges, etc. in addition to having a washer and dryer there was already detergent and dryer sheets, there were a number of comfortable linens and towels, extra blankets. Though we spent a lot of time watching The Weather Channel worrying about our hometown, we took great comfort of the quiet surroundings as seen and heard from the relaxing screened in porch and walks at Lake Junaluska. There was a nice selection of magazines and books, one that I got hooked on and bought for my kindle so I can finish! Linda Is an organizational wiz and her home is so well ordered I thought I was in my own!
I told my husband, who had to remain back home because of his job, that we are coming back to Maggie Valley and will be renting this adorable place as we truly relax and more of the amenities the area offers!
The downstairs bedroom and bath were perfect for my teenage stepdaughter and niece! They loved “their” space!
Thank you again Linda! We look forward to our next visit.
I'm so glad we were able to provide a home away from home during a very difficult time. I hope you come back under better circumstances!
Excellent Location! Very peaceful!
My parents and I had a wonderful time this weekend at Morning Star Cottage. The location was perfect (especially since one of the major reasons for our visit was to go to the Casino!). The cottage was decorated so nice, and we enjoyed looking at all the artwork and knick-knacks. There were so many places to sit and relax, it was hard to choose so we just rotated from room to room. The kitchen had everything we needed and I loved having both the Keurig and small (4 cup) coffee pot. Having the main level bedroom with the walk-in shower and large bathroom worked perfect for my elderly parents. I stayed in the lower level, which gave me my own space and a lot of privacy. Loved the separate lower level exit as well. The road was very narrow getting up to the cottage (the width of a small driveway), but after I maneuvered it the first time, it was fine. I definitely recommend to take the 2nd entry onto Cedar Dr. from Country Club Drive (left hand turn onto Cedar drive) so you are entering the driveway more straight on, otherwise you have to take a sharp left to get up the driveway hill (and the driveway is VERY steep). This is definitely a place that I would love to stay for future visits to Maggie Valley. You can definitely feel the love and sentimentality the owners and family have for this wonderful mountain get-away. Thanks again for opening and sharing your home with us!
Thanks Sheri. I'm glad it worked out for you and you enjoyed your stay. Please come again. We look forward to welcoming you.
