We have a beautiful, very well equipped kitchen joy our great deck overlooking view of Sonoma Mountain and large rustic country gardens for meandering and seating. Bronze period light fixtures throughout the house. Art Nouveau details in bathroom tile. Gas fireplace in living room adds cozy feel. Lovely art work on the walls, of local area and by local artists. Excellent wireless access as Cottage has it's own router. Uverse, Small flat screen TV.
There is a good window air conditioner set up in the Summer months, plenty of fans as well, thou with the heavy insulation installed during complete rebuild in 2009 the house stays quite cool. Freestanding gas, faux fireplace keeps house cozy on cold days and there is also a rolling heater is each bedroom that allows you to warm each bedroom separately if wanted.
Surrounded by adjoining properties which include many acres of rolling open space includes goats, sheep and cows.
We offer information on the back roads and local restaurants, theater etc.
Lots of local brochures for local attractions, Winery guides and a notebook full of menus of some of our best local restaurants. Request our local Parks List via email with links to local parks and the Point Reyes National seashore which is only a 1/2 hour drive away.
The outside edge of the land is on a busy road (not visible once in drive) but the property around the Cottage is completely fenced for the protection of visiting dog members of your family. In addition to the large garden there is a small pasture area below that which works well for throwing a ball for a dog or nature calls!
House is very private and surrounded by a storage barn and thick bamboo headges on two sides facing a shared drive.
Host speaks only English but daughter 10 mins away speaks fluent German and pretty good French & some Dutch so arrangements can be made (if she is in area) to have her call & discuss house with you but this must be pre-arranged call.) We are happy to translate our orientation details into your language.

Country Garden flourishes with many flowers most of the year has a table with umbrella for shade, four chairs and a Weber barbecue & all the tools for it you need.
The front bedroom has a queen bed. There is also room for the porta crib in that room which we can supply for your baby. Highchair too.
Second bedroom is set up in the 'Garden View Room' (small) with another double bed. It can be changed to a den with a couch for longer term stays. Smaller bedroom has a bay window, double sliding glass doors and it's own small deck with stairs down to the garden. Although that double bed has regular mattress set it's frame under is a futon frame, and we have the cushions to convert to the futon couch if you prefer a den.. (For longer stays only &. Small charge for conversion /cost of storage of mattresses in place now. Let's plan this ahead of time!))
Walk in closet. Tons of linens, comforters, and towels.
Basic food staples, inquire. Spices, oils etc. Two coffee machines one drip, one Single cup maker +.all other small appliances usually needed. Tons of dishes & nice pots, pans, knives, utensils.
The house has one bath with full tub and shower inside and another half accommodation in a rustic out bldg off the garden path a
Laundry room, down the garden path.. is lightly shared by one other person only but can be reserved for your exclusive use if needed.

Due to the fact that we are on a rural well /septic system, we can not books groups of 4 or more for stays longer than 7 days. Please inquire, varies a bit with seasons. Our well water is fine for drinking.
Centrally located a main, back 2 lane road, Old Redwood Hwy, in Sonoma County just North East of Petaluma near the small town of Penngrove, we are 6 mins down our road from historic downtown Petaluma. Our Road turns into Petaluma Blvd n. which runs into the center of Petaluma downtown becoming the main street.
We 40-55 mins from San Francisco traffic depending, Two minutes from Hwy 101, 5 min from Sonoma State University & renown Green Music Center. Eight -mins from South Santa Rosa, and 20 mins to Sonoma on a lovely back hwy near the house. Bus stops a 1 min walk for "Sonoma County Transit: North & South (Bring your bike. .!) connects to Golden Gate Transit Buses to S.F. & Bay Ferries to S.F. from Larkspur to the South. Our new high speed Smart Train runs from Santa Rosa to San Rafael with stops in Cotati (station w parking 1.5 miles) & Petaluma and other towns. So fun to ride! 40 Mins from city of Napa.
Note: Ask about rush hour weekday traffic coming up from Marin & SF & , When planning flights also keep in mind return traffic on Sunday afternoon going into the cites from countryside can be very slow up to the Golden Gate or San Rafael Bridges..

Important Allergy Note: We are a "Pet Friendly" house & thou we try diligently to clean each time very well, we cannot guarantee zero pet dandruff exists in small amount after occasional guests with pets. If you have a serious allergy to pets please let us know, well in advance so we can take extra care for you. We can't guarantee a completely allergy free house.
There are two refrigerators. The mid sized upright shown with freezer in dinning area , and the under the counter one in kitchen cabinet photo. There is also a chest freezer on the deck for storing more frozen food.
Two night minimum especially on the weekends, however we can occasionally book a one night if it is open close to the date or if it fits with another weekend reservation. Please ask. We prefer to avoid same day changes of guests if possible, thanks.

Re Rest: WE ARE REQUIRED TO POST Following ON OUR ADVERTISING: (Optional to read) THE FOLLOWING NEW LOCAL VACATION RENTAL ORDINANCES
Maximum Overnight Occupancy: Maximum overnight occupancy for vacation rentals shall be up to a maximum of two (2) persons per sleeping room or guestroom, plus two (2) additional persons per property excluding children under three (3) years of age.
Maximum Number of Guests and Daytime Visitors. The maximum number of total guests and visitors allowed at any time in a single vacation rental shall not exceed the maximum overnight occupancy plus six (6) additional persons per property during the daytime, or sixteen (18) persons, whichever is less, excluding children under three (3) years of age. Vacation rentals with larger numbers of guests and visitors may only be allowed subject to the granting of a use permit. Notwithstanding, maximum guest limits may be exceeded on the following national holidays: Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas, so long as the holiday event does not otherwise trigger the requirement for a special or cultural events permit.
(In our house this means a total of 12 including you who are staying overnight per the rental contract people listed.)
Noise Limits. All activities associated with the vacation rental shall meet the general plan noise standards contained below. Quiet hours shall be from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. The property owner shall ensure that the quiet hours and limits on outdoor activities are included in rental agreements and in all online advertisements and listings.
Amplified Sound. Outdoor amplified sound shall not be allowed at any time associated with a vacation rental
Parking: Parking shall be provided as follows: a minimum of one (1) on-site parking space for a vacation rental with up to two (2) guestrooms or sleeping rooms. On-street parking may be considered for up to one (1) of the required parking spaces. The number of cars vehicles allowed for overnight guests shall be limited to the off-street parking available, as demonstrated by the application
