Spinner dolphins, whales, surfers, boogie boarders and that is just what you will see from your lanai! Inside you can relax in our newly renovated, air-conditioned condo. You may not want to stay inside much though because there is so much to do in the area including snorkeling at the beach just next door. It will be a long remembered vacation which you will want to repeat.

This comfortable condo has a newly remodeled, completely equipped kitchen. We are continually updating furniture. (This year we put in a gorgeous new shower.) This end unit has extra windows giving plenty of light. It is the most convenient location in the complex: just steps from the pool, BBQs, and covered parking. Internet and domestic long distance calling are provided at no cost in the unit as well as snorkels, fins, beach chairs, umbrella, etc. for fun at the beach.

Shopping, restaurants and a spectacular farmers' market are only a few minutes walk. We have a lovely beach next to the complex and the famous Disappearing Sands beach only two miles down the road. Go a little further and find more fish than you can imagine while you snorkel at Kahaluu.

About The Owner

Here we are on the lanai looking at the surfers with our beautiful grand-daughter Evelyn. We live in Livermore, California, for ten months of the year and enjoy the Big Island for the other two. We purchased our unit in 2003 and have enjoyed it even more than we expected. Since we have retired, we like to have projects. Chuck and his brother put in the cabinets in the kitchen. I got to do the tiling and painting.

Why The Owner chose Kailua-Kona

Being an end unit, we have the extra windows giving lots of light. The lanai is shaded in the afternoon so that you have a wonderful ocean view, and the temperature is perfect. We are close to town so we leave our car in the lot and walk to restaurants, farmers' market, the pier, the ice cream shop, et cetera.

What makes this condo unique

One of our favorite activities is our mini-ironman...we run to the pier in the morning(part of the marathon section of the Ironman), and then swim out to the third or fourth buoy (a very small part of the swimming section of the Ironman). Then we walk home stopping at Bruce's (Java on the Rock) for a latte nui loa.

We also enjoy the Aloha Stroll through town on the third Sunday of the month.

Great place to stay in Kona

We were just in Kona and stayed at the Kona Reef. The complex is located in a perfect location for hanging out in Kona and then getting away to a quiet place in the evening for sleeping. Just a 1/4 to 1/2 mile walk to most restaurants and bars. The pool is awesome with a view of the ocean to die for. There is a small beach next door if you want to snorkel or just go in the ocean. The condo is very clean and has great access to the pool. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the bedroom is located on the parking lot side and there can be noise from the traffic and people coming and going. There also is light from car headlights making the bend that comes through the bedroom window that can be annoying. This could be easily solved if the owners put heavy shutters or blinds on the row of bedroom windows. Other than that we would stay there again. Loved the big island!

Great home base in Kona

This place nicely appointed and clean. Great location to check out some dolphins just off the beach and a sea turtle down by the rocks. We were able to walk to downtown areas in Kona to eat at restaurants and see the town.

You may want to close the master bedroom windows before bed to keep the sounds from the parking area down if you like to sleep in.

Overall we were very happy with this place and glad we chose this over a hotel.

Great location and ocean views. Easy walk to the center of Kona. Condo was just right for a couple.

Great Suite & Great Location

First time staying in this complex and we'll definitely return. The suite was clean and well appointed, just right for a couple. The location is close enough to restaurants and shops, so that walking is comfortable, but far enough away from the hustle on Alii, so that it's quiet and relaxing.
