We have never been this happy with a house we have rented before.(Not only is it a beautiful house, but it is so well stocked and we especially appreciate how clean it is.)

A Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We came here for a week with my family and had a very enjoyable time. The house was perfect with a terrific backyard for our two boys, ages 5 and 9. Enjoyed BBQs on the deck daily.

A very spacious accommodation with everything in proper Vermont order!

Extremely helpful contact with the owners before the trip, and everything ran smoothly.

I would strongly recommend this place and the owner to others.

lovely home

  • 4 of 5

This is a very clean and comfortable house with lots of character! The grounds are devine!!! Jeanne and John have huge lush flower gardens surrounding their property! The river is just below and there are sweet places to sit and enjoy the river and nearby waterfalls! The area is quite lovely as well!

Unfortunately, motorcyclists enjoy the area and rt.5 is just on the other side of the river. So...the tranquility gets interrupted! The next door neighbors were sitting outside all afternoon and were particularly boisterous!

Being a person who loves quiet and solitude, this was less than ideal! It wouldn't bother everyone!

Jeanne was kind and the surrounding area bucolic!

Lovely historic home

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Millrace House. The house has been meticulously restored with lovely gardens and is one of the nicest places we have stayed in. It is conveniently located with easy access to restaurants and sights in Newport. Lake Willoughby is a short drive away for boating, swimming and fishing. We hiked up nearby Mount Pisgah and explored smaller lakes in the region. The owners, Jeanne and John are among the nicest hosts we've met. If we are up this way again, we will definitely want to stay here!

Wonderful stay

My husband and I - and another couple - had a great stay here! The house is warm and cozy and a perfect short commute to ski at Jay Peak. Jeanne was very nice and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

Great get away to a beautiful part of the country!

  • 5 of 5

This is just a very special and cozy home to stay at. My wife and I drove up from Long Island to spend three nights at the house and it was just awesome. It was meticulously clean, tastefully furnished and extremely comfortable. We appreciated having a very functional kitchen, which allowed us to stay home and eat after a long day exploring the surrounding area. On another day, it was a 25 minute drive to Jay Peak for a day of skiing and eating at local restaurants. The owners, Jeanne and John, live in a beautiful home across the street and stopped over once to say hi and to offer some area specific advice and suggestions and they are great. The surrounding area is just wide open, bucolic and so beautiful. We spent a lot of time just driving around and appreciating the sights in this magnificent part of the country. The diner just up the road was a real treat as well. This is a great little getaway and worth the drive to the "north country."
