Lovely historic home!
We stayed here for a weekend to ski at Jay Peak, while grandma watched our new baby at the house--the house is lovely, well appointed and warm. And it feels like you are nestled in the woods, even though it's only a short drive off the main road. It's also well situated to get to Jay in the morning! We cooked real meals and the kitchen is stocked, and the house was nicely renovated and there is a ton of space. Thanks for having us!
Charming historic cottage
Spacious, comfortable, clean, and around the corner from a terrific diner — we had breakfast there both mornings. It was cold outside and a little icy when we stayed, but we were snug and warm in our Coventry cottage. Steps away is the picturesque Black River. Jeanne and John are delightful hosts.
Neat place to stay. Interesting house, well supplied and comfy beds. Jeanne was easy to work with and supplied information about thee area. We loved our stay at Jeanne's vrbo. Loved the river near the house!!!!
My wife and I loved our stay here. We imagined a week reading/hiking/watching the leaf change. We got more than that. The house is perfectly located for all the outdoor activities you can imagine (we hiked, ran a race, kayaked, and bikes into Canada while we were there).
The home was beautiful; comfortable beds; well-stocked linens; great kitchen; lots of windows for natural light.
One thing we especially loved - the house was well stocked with the little things that are easy to lose sight of when preparing (coffee filters, a good spread of pots and pans, bug spray, puzzles and board games). Those extra details really took the trip to the next level for us.
Perfect get away!
We were 3 adults including my 84 year old mom. Having a downstairs bed in the living area was ideal for her! Being able to go fish and hang out by the river was ideal for us! Peaceful sitting on the back deck, barbequing a steak on the gas grill and breakfast at the diner around the corner (check out the deep fried french toast) were highlights! Clean, cozy but spacious, so well equipped...I wouldn't change a thing except for staying longer next time! The owner even shared garden veggies with us. We couldn't have enjoyed it more!
This is a very clean and comfortable house with lots of character! The grounds are devine!!! Jeanne and John have huge lush flower gardens surrounding their property! The river is just below and there are sweet places to sit and enjoy the river and nearby waterfalls! The area is quite lovely as well!
Unfortunately, motorcyclists enjoy the area and rt.5 is just on the other side of the river. So...the tranquility gets interrupted! The next door neighbors were sitting outside all afternoon and were particularly boisterous!
Being a person who loves quiet and solitude, this was less than ideal! It wouldn't bother everyone!
Jeanne was kind and the surrounding area bucolic!
