Beautiful cottage close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

We had a truly wonderful stay in this romantic cottage. We came in the end of July for the Bread and Puppet circus. The house is a gorgeously remodeled 19th C. house. Everything is new and beautifully crafted with real wood and lovely detailing. John and Jeane could not have been more gracious, even offering to let us raid their remarkable garden (hosts live across the street). We nabbed fresh lettuce and peppers. The topper was the fresh raspberries from their giant raspberry patch and the delicious oven-warm raspberry pie that John brought over on the first night. The cottage is in the small town of Coventry and there are walks right from the house through rolling farmland and a river with two small waterfalls as well as an Alpaca farm. It's about 20 minutes to bread and puppet and 10 to Newport which has great markets. The beautiful glacial lakes: Crystal Lake and Lake Willoughby are also close - good for swimming and kayaking. The amazing bike trail along Lake Memphremagog is not to be missed just 10 min away in Newport. (rentals available) The house was so cozy and well appointed. We cooked most of our meals. All the utilities were in excellent shape - great baths and showers. It's a perfect jumping off point for so many adventures. One of the nicest vacation rentals I have seen!

Quaint and 'Newhart-ish' Stay

  • 5 of 5

This property has many beautiful features. The 1800's farmhouse has been professionally remodeled and all amenities work well. Washer/ Dryer onsite, plenty of water pressure and hot water. A very nice and unexpected option/ home in an area with very limited accommodation choices. Don't expected a home theatre and an Xbox as they did not exist in 1820!

Lovely historic home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a weekend to ski at Jay Peak, while grandma watched our new baby at the house--the house is lovely, well appointed and warm. And it feels like you are nestled in the woods, even though it's only a short drive off the main road. It's also well situated to get to Jay in the morning! We cooked real meals and the kitchen is stocked, and the house was nicely renovated and there is a ton of space. Thanks for having us!

Charming historic cottage

  • 5 of 5

Spacious, comfortable, clean, and around the corner from a terrific diner — we had breakfast there both mornings. It was cold outside and a little icy when we stayed, but we were snug and warm in our Coventry cottage. Steps away is the picturesque Black River. Jeanne and John are delightful hosts.

Lovely Spot

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I loved our stay here. We imagined a week reading/hiking/watching the leaf change. We got more than that. The house is perfectly located for all the outdoor activities you can imagine (we hiked, ran a race, kayaked, and bikes into Canada while we were there).

The home was beautiful; comfortable beds; well-stocked linens; great kitchen; lots of windows for natural light.

One thing we especially loved - the house was well stocked with the little things that are easy to lose sight of when preparing (coffee filters, a good spread of pots and pans, bug spray, puzzles and board games). Those extra details really took the trip to the next level for us.
