About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

We couldn't imagine a nicer setting for a weekend/vacation home. Our cottage was the ideal place for our young, beach-loving family. Pretty grounds for the children to play on, a view of beautiful Lake Como, Spring Lake and walking distance to New Jersey's sparkling shore.

As city dwellers, who often vacation by the sea on an island in Greece, we miss the sight, smells and sounds of the sea when not there. Our breezy, sun-filled cottage, by the shore is the perfect escape when we want to feel the comforts of our island home. We are tucked away on a quiet, sweet country lane with lovely neighbors including the resident duck family that keeps the cottage alive, even when we are gone. Our cottage has just enough of the comforts of a modern home, allowing you to relax, be comfortable and forget the hustle and bustle of city life.

Upon entry our 'island' sitting room, decorated in cobalt blue and white reminds guests that they have arrived at the Shore. Past the tangerine entry is our euro-chic living room with a view of the garden and lake. Three ample-sized bedrooms with new mattresses, cotton bed linens, down pillows and comforters. A linen closet just outside the bathroom houses fresh cotton towels. The newly installed birch kitchen seats 6 comfortably and opens to the back yard/patio where you could eat al fresco or swing lazily in our hammock whilst sipping iced tea with a fresh sprig of mint from our herb garden. BBQ at home or eat out at the many restaurants in the area.

About The Owner

I am a full-time Mom who enjoys working on creative projects; My husband is in the hospitality industry; having always worked in luxury properties, he has a keen sense of what a guest wants. We love entertaining and having friends around. Though we live in the city, we have a deep appreciation for the simple things country life can provide. We enjoy gardening, antiquing, good food, and good company. I will do my best to help you in planning your stay. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for looking, Anna

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2009

Why The Owner chose Shore Region

We first visited the family cottage over 20 years ago, where after dinner with family, my then boyfriend and I took a walk to Lake Como and by the reflection of a big August moon, he proposed. This area and cottage has had a special place in our hearts since then. In 2009, to our surprise, our dear Uncle turned the cottage over to our family to enjoy. Our young teens love it and the freedom and serenity that comes with it.

What makes this cottage unique

We are a just about an hour and a half away from(midtown) Manattan and Philadelphia. We are located by Lake Como and just 2 city blocks from the Ocean. Sounds of nature surround you as you wake. An early morning jog around the lake and up to the ocean are sure to start the day well. Fresh baked goods may be had at several local bakeries. Good quality American fare, including seafood can be found just a bike ride away. As 'city kids', our children did not know the freedom of riding their bikes and taking long walks without us. As soon as our car pulls up the lane and we hear the crunching of gravel under our tires, we know that we have arrived to our little 'peace' of paradise. We always wrap up the evening by taking a walk up to the ocean.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The weather was beautiful upon arrival...then came Hurricane Sandy...

Our favorite adventures: beach, lake and boardwalk. This is a wonderful beach cottage; yiu have lovely taste: as a designer by profession, I felt at home. I am so happy we came even though "Frankenstorm" has forced us out earlier than we would have liked. We hope to come back soon!

Great getaway for families with teens!

  • 5 of 5

This past September, before we got back to work and dropped our 18 year-old daughter off to college, we decided to take a final long weekend getaway to this lovely, comfy beach cottage by the shore. With high expectations for a rejuvenating mini-vacation and some final parents-daughter bonding, we contacted the owners. We explained that we were hesitant to rent an empty house, as we were in the middle of packing for college back home and didn't have the extra time or energy to extensively pack for this trip; Anna, the owner, assured us that they had most everything needed for a comfortable stay. Upon arriving, we found the cottage so charming, with a lovely view of the lake and just a short walk from the beach- luckily, beach badges, towels, and bikes were left for us to use in the cottage. One of our favorite outings was a bike ride to the town of Spring Lake, just minutes away, where we found cute cafes (The Scone Pony's a must!), adorable boutiques my daughter and I loved, and another gorgeous lake that we walked around after some good New York-style pizza at Spring Lake Pizza! Hoffman's Ice Cream was also a highlight for our ice cream-loving family, as was our dinner in hip Asbury Park. All in all, it left little to be desired, and we hope to book a longer stay in the near future!

Cozy house for young famikies

  • 5 of 5

This is a cozy and recently renovated house. The living is bright and airy, the kitchen big enough to cook, and the kids bedroom is cute and thoughtful. The owners were excellent hosts, and pretty much had everything you could possibly want stocked in the house and available for use! They even had some basic groceries stocked for us! "The lane" is a cozy side street off the Main Street, very quiet and relaxing. Right across the street from the lake, and a short walk to the beach. It was a lovely stay and we hope to come again!

Beautiful, Blissful Stay in Spring Lake

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough wonderful things about this cottage. I stayed there for a week with my husband, 1.5 year old son, and in-laws, and it was absolute perfection. From the very beginning, when we were deciding whether to book the cottage, the owners were so responsive, gracious, and helpful, and that continued throughout our stay. They gave us all kinds of tips on where to go, where to eat, what to see, and were lovely to deal with throughout. Most importantly, though, the cottage itself is gorgeous, and so are the grounds. Everything is impeccably clean and comfortable. The house is fully stocked with everything you need: all the kitchen equipment and pantry items we would ever think to use, a grill outside so we could do some BBQing, beach towels and umbrellas, bikes -- just everything! The cottage is right near a beautiful lake full of swans and a short drive or walk to either Spring Lake or Belmar beach. I would especially recommend the cottage for families traveling with children. We didn't have to bring a high chair or any toys, everything was covered. There were also such lovely touches throughout when we arrived: a chalkboard sign welcoming us, and a personalized sign in one of the rooms with my son's name. We couldn't be happier with our stay and hope to make visiting the cottage an annual tradition!

Weekend at the lake

  • 5 of 5

This lake house is the perfect beach getaway. My wife and I spent our "mini-moon" there and we had a fantastic time. The location of the house allowed us to walk to either Belmar or Spring Lake Beach for a beach day and take a quick drive to Asbury Park for dinner during the evening. The house itself is lovely, clean, and has every amenity that a guest could need. The host is incredibly informative, approachable, and commited to the guests. Again, this is the perfect place for a short or extended stay at the beach.

Perfect Place to Start the New Year ! Wonderful Summer Vacation Spot!

  • 5 of 5

I have been staying in the Belmar area for years and this is by far the best place we have stayed. Very near the beaches yet super quiet. Everything you need is there: beach equiptment , towels, a great kitchen with lots of utensils and more. The decoration is lovely and inspiring! There is a nice selection of books too. The house is also quite spacious, so if you come with kids you still have alot of privacy. The beds were super comfortable and the place was very clean. This time we were home for a winter visit but I will definitely come back for a summer stay !

A lovely home!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house for 2 weeks this past summer so we would have a home base while vising the US. We are 2 adults and three teenage children. My children were there in shifts due to camps, work and travel as was my husband. The house was lovely! Charming, well appointed and comfortable. We especially loved the lounge chairs in the front yard which we used every night. The owners make you feel very comfortable and well looked after. The locations was private but close enough to the beach to walk. There are lots of restaurants, mostly in Belmar and decent grocery shopping nearby as well. I would highly recommend the property.
