About Tom and Eve Pushaw

Tom is a local builder and was raised in Grand Haven but spent fifteen years enjoying California! Eve grew up in Historic Indian Village located in downtown Detroit and has lived in the area for over 20 years.

We enjoy traveling, camping in our 1966 Frolic camper and being outdoors! We enjoy renovating homes… finding them in rough shape and transforming them into their original splendor!

Tom and Eve Pushaw purchased this house in 2004

Why Tom and Eve Pushaw chose Grand Haven

The Howard House is located within a quiet neighborhood but is close to all of the downtown activities. You are walking distance to the boardwalk, beach, restaurants, shopping, library etc.

Many guests tell us that they feel like they are at a 'home away from home!' They mention the antique furniture, stain glass windows and our kitchens the most :)

We have designed and decorated our properties to feel like homes!

What makes this house unique

The Howard House offers convience...everything you need is within walking distance! The only time you will need your car is to go to the grocery store and to be honest that is not even necessary during the week...there are specialty markets downtown for basic needs and unique purchases!

The Howard House has a front porch swing to enjoy a cup of coffee or read a book. The back patio is a perfect place for kids to play and parents to feel comfortable and relax. There is a downstairs bedroom for for those that have difficulty with stairs and the home has a fully equipped kitchen with an open floor plan to enjoy meals at home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As you know,a house(home)sets the stage - Each of us oohed and aahed when we came in, it felt so inviting and beautiful. The renovation was terrific, beautifully finished, everything! And Eve, we loved all of your touches, it makes a house homey and warm.

We walked, relaxed, laughed and ate! A perfect vacation for all of us! Loved the town, have to come back and visit the many more great things to see and do.

Again, Thanks for everything, it was the highlight of the year for us.

Great house/cottage that was perfect for our stay

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the Howard House. Traditional "cottage" style house but upgraded to have AC (many houses don't), and all normal amenities. 2 Bedrooms upstairs and 1 downstairs with plenty of bed space. Kitchen is spacious and family room with large TV is more than adequate. We love the street it's on as you are just a <3 walk block to the River/Pronto Pup and equal distance to downtown. Short drive to the lake, better than staying closer to the lake in our opinion so our children could play around in the Yard or front. Tom & Eve were great house hosts and checked in to make sure everything was suitable for us. We would stay there again and recommend!

Corner Porch

  • 5 of 5

Our family had the pleasure of spending a week at Corner Porch last summer and we had an outstanding time. Tom and Eve are wonderful to work with...send them an email and you receive an answer promptly. The house is beautiful and is stocked with everything you will need during your stay. The location couldn't be better, within a couple of blocks of downtown and the water. I can't think of one negative thing to say, we are looking forward to our next visit.

Howard House and Corner Porch

  • 5 of 5

We have a girls week every year. For the last 6 years we have stayed at the Howard House or the Corner Porch.

The cottages have been beautifully restored. The locations are perfect for a walk to the beach, channel and several restaurants. Sitting on the porch swing is a great way to relax. Pushaw's are thoughtful owners. A great place to stay in Grand Haven.

LOVE this home and city

  • 5 of 5

We LOVE Grand Haven but one of the things that makes us love it so is the Howard House!! It is our home away from home. We have been staying at this home for the past 7yrs. Have celebrated 6 birthdays there and made so many wonderful memories. Every time we walk thru the front door it's like we are at home. We stumbled across the property owned by the Pushaw's on VRBO. They have always made us feel so welcomed and like we are a part of their home. I definitely recommend a stay in one of their beautiful properties. We always book for the next year before we leave!!! LOVE it!!!

Franklin Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Franklin Cottage for the weekend of Kite-fest. The house is beautifully restored and the location is perfect - just one block to downtown. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and listening to the music from the restaurant across the street in the evening.

Corner Porch

  • 5 of 5

This was a fantastic place for our family get-away. My sons, their wives and myself stayed 3 nights and 4 days. We walked everywhere. Packed the wagon and beach chairs that the rental provided and walked to Lake Michigan and spent the day. This rental had all the amenities of home. Sheets and towels were provided. The kitchen was fully functional. We had an absolute blast. I would highly recommend it. It was just 3 hours from home, easy to find, easy on the wallet, who could ask for more.
