About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

"Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity!" Thoreau

Escape to the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the sounds of the Shenandoah River. Located just 75 minutes from the Capital Beltway, and nestled on six secluded acres in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, The Cabin is the perfect getaway for couples, families or a small group of friends (2-4 people). The Cabin offers two bedrooms, both with Queen beds. Rustic knotty pine walls and a large stone fireplace (with gas logs) enhance the dining and living area. The kitchen is fully equipped and is a step away from either an 8' x 14' outdoor deck or your own spacious 20' x 20' screened porch. On the screened porch you will find a four person Jacuzzi hot tub, a picnic table for outdoor dining and a hammock where you can lie back, relax and listen to the Shenandoah River. For those who want the camping feeling there is an outdoor fire-pit.

Our private river access is less than a mile walk from the cabin. We are also within a half an hour of many popular attractions such as canoeing or tubing on the historic Shenandoah River, hiking in the Shenandoah National Park, horseback riding, or fly-fishing on a mountain stream. You can take a drive along Skyline Drive or explore the depths of Luray Caverns, or just browse for antiques in downtown Luray. For children there is Jellystone Park with miniature golf and the Luray Reptile Center and Petting Zoo. Massanutten Ski Resort is only 45 minutes away.

The Cabin is a great base for year round activities in the mountains of Virginia. Come enjoy the privacy of your very own cabin in the woods.

Very nice, quiet, clean and a great location

  • 5 of 5

The house was great. Perfect for two but big enough for four. The screened porch was an awesome feature which of course included the hot tub! The fire pit out back was wonderful in the evenings. During the day you are close enough to either Front Royal or Luray and we visited both. Will definitely rent this place again!

Pleasant Stay

  • 5 of 5

If you looking for a nice small cabin that is remote and isolated, but not too remote or isolated, this is your place. Clean, comfortable, and nicely put together. Large screened-in porch is a real plus, and fire pit is there if you're into that sort of outdoor activity (we were). Owner very accommodating, and it was a nice surprise to have a lights on and the air conditioning running (hot, humid) when we arrived in early evening. Cookie plate on the table was a nice welcome gift. Only stayed for two days, but it was a short pleasant visit to the area. For those without dogs/pets, don't worry about an "animal" smell in this pet-friendly cabin because there isn't any. Derek (and the prior pet owners) have done a great job of making sure the structure has a clean smell. So feel confident in booking your stay, and relax while you're there.

The outdoor spaces of the cabin are awesome. The inside left a little to be desired

  • 3 of 5

The screened in porch, hot tub, back deck, fire pit, and privacy were fantastic. The inside could use a few upgrades. Rentals shouldn't have carpet as there is clearly stains/odors trapped in them that could easily have been wiped off laminate or wood. Another easy fix is to put a comfortable mattress on the beds. It would be nice if they'd put ant traps around as ants are all over the place.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback about our property. it is always helpful to know what we are doing right and what can be improved upon. As you mentioned the outdoor spaces are great. We spent this past spring doing a much needed renovation to the screen porch and outdoor areas. We have had a lot of positive response with that improvement. We also installed all new windows in the cabin and late last year, we did a complete renovation to the bathroom. We take your comments to heart and will make every effort to improve what you have mentioned. We are going out this week to pick up new beds for the two bedrooms and hope to have them in for our next guests. With regard to the carpet, there are some burn marks that were made when we had wood burning fireplace in the cabin and we have not been able to replace the carpet since then. We are hoping to install a wood floor next year in the living area. We were not aware there were any ants in the cabin. I went out and purchased ant traps and spay today and will address that when the next guests check out. Again, thank you for your words and we hope you will return to one of our properties again soon. Derek

Nice property at end of a secluded wooded road. Awesome large screened porch with hottub.

Perfect for two people, everything we needed. Our only suggestion would be an additional window air conditioner for really hot days.
