Our apartment has one of the most beautiful views over Lake Bolsena, on the terrace you can relax, eat or make yoga in the morning. One looks at the lake, which changes again and again, on some days the other bank sinks in the haze and it looks almost like at the sea. At night there is incredible starry sky and the lights of the villages around the lake are flashing in the dark. In August you can count the shooting stars.
There is a bedroom with a bed of 1.80 x 2.00 meters, from which one looks from two windows on the lake. There is also a small room with a lot of equipment for bathing (umbrellas, beach chairs, inflatable boat, air mattresses, beach mats, toys etc.). Another single mattress (90 x 2.00) is available.
In the living room there is a sleeping sofa (1.40 x 2.00 meters), a mini-bar with satellite programs and a fully equipped kitchen. Books, cookbooks and travel guides for the surrounding area are available in abundance.
There is a washing machine in the bathroom. Towels, bed linen and blankets are also provided.
Swimming, culture, food:
Bolsena is a wonderful medieval town with a very old town center, a castle and its own miracle, the holy Christina. You can sip your Caffe or Aperitivo in a lot of bars and eat delicious - the best regional dishes are the Corregone, whitefish caught here in the lake. To the sea it is only an hour by car.
In the villages around the lake there are Dorffeste (Sagra) in the summer dedicated to certain foods: the Corregone, the Gnocchi or the wild boar. The Commune makes a lot of events like La Notte della Musica or the Hortensienfest.
Bathing is great on the promenade of Bolsena, Montefiascone or, if you want to be something special, on the undeveloped side of the lake. To the sea it is only an hour by car. Bathing is usually possible with a little hardening from mid / late May to mid October.
From the apartment you can make a variety of excursions: the wonderful Orvieto on its hill and the widely visible cathedral is only half an hour away. Also Siena is still easily accessible. To Rome it is worth taking the train from Orvieto, it takes only an hour to Roma Termini, from there you can walk all the way to the Forum Romanum and Colosseum. Many small towns such as Civita di Bagnaia, Montefiascone or Caprarola with the Palazzo Farnese invite you to stroll and stroll. Also Tarquinia and Viterbo are exciting - or the walking in the footsteps of the Etruscans. Especially for the cooler seasons, a trip to the hot springs of Saturnia is an option. By the sea is worth a visit to the Tarot garden of Niki de Saint Phalle or a trip to the Isola di Giglio.
Important to know:
Downstairs in the house lives an Italian family and correspondingly lively and loud it sometimes goes to.
You need a car: Località San Antonio is six kilometers from Bolsena and 8 kilometers from Montefiascone on Via Cassia. There is no shop and you can not go directly to the lake. There is however a bus connection to Bolsena and a bike.
With crawling children and very small children, the apartment is not so suitable, because the balcony is open at the bottom.
