We cater to those who can not tolerate typical cleaning chemicals/products and/or synthetic fragrance. You'll never... ever... find a "plug-in" headache, brain fog, asthma inducing synthetic chemical laden "air freshener" at our place... We do use Seventh Generation products and steam distilled essential oils to clean, we adjust around individual needs as required.

In order to maintain status, all guests agree to participate. The most efficient approach... click "More Details" button at every opportunity, enter dates for estimate and if it seems a potential match... exchange messages through the system.

Reservations initiated through system are tentative until we are in receipt of completed contact documents and initial rental payment. Once we are able to speak directly and see that our home is a likely match we'll proceed, contract documents must be completed and returned direct to us within 12 hours (or other term mutually agreed to during phone conversation). In the event it proves a mismatch (prior to actual rental payment processing by us), the Guest initiates a cancellation directly via Homeaway/VRBO system and should receive refund of the service fee collected within a reasonable time frame.

We are pleased to offer access to our home and specifically cater to those who can not tolerate typical cleaning chemicals and/or require synthetic fragrance-free accommodations. All guests must refrain from use of chemicals and synthetic scents while in residence. Reservations are limited to those adults and small families who have such needs, or are willing to adapt while in residence.

We offer a single property with one goal in mind - to provide a safe, restful, and healthy haven for those who can't tolerate synthetic scent and other specific exposure hazards of modern life.

You'll find our approach is immediately noticeable in nearly every aspect upon arrival, from the lack of synthetic fragrance, cleanliness, linens free of formaldehyde that also don't smell of bleach and many other aspects you typically won't encounter in an ordinary accommodation environment.

This doesn't mean one must be chemical sensitive to stay with us, it just means guests must be willing to adapt while in residence. We have several loyal guests who are health conscious in general or happened on us when they initially took a chance because of open dates and "felt like they won the lottery."

Although it's not our intention/focus, we do occasionally host guests who are allergic to dogs. Thus far, due to our cleaning methods/efforts, those individuals have not had problems.

Why Michael & Cheryl chose Waters Edge

We originally chose this townhome as a second residence as Folly has exceptionally clean air and Michael needed to escape the effects of the heaviest spring pollens at home. We are now able to share our townhome year round as he is no longer forced to flee. ;)

What makes this Townhome unique

Our goal is to provide and maintain a home environment suitable for chemical sensitive individuals by cleaning with natural products and essential oils as well as avoiding chemical sprays etc. Chemical & synthetic scent free laundry detergent as well as natural air freshener and insect repellent provided. Guests refrain from using chemicals and synthetically scented products while in residence. If advice is needed as to where to obtain naturally scented personal care products we're glad to assist. With the county boat landing just a couple blocks away, it's convenient to go for a quick paddle on a whim, the back side of Folly offers wonderful places to kayak. We never know what we're going to see. The island is also a great place to jog and bicycle, plus miles and miles of beach to enjoy. The outdoor shower with hot and cold water makes beach excursions so much more convenient and really does minimize sand inside. The location is prefect, not in the hub bub of front beach activity, yet an easy walk to beach access and to restaurants etc. on Center Street. ↂ ALL NATURAL GREEN CLEANING PRODUCTS ↂ LOW TO NO PESTICIDE USE …..ↁ baits & plant based pesticide used only if required …..ↁ essential oil steam mopping is our most effective deterrent ↂ WIRELESS INTERNET can be deactivated (others close though) ↂ TV via cable, not satellite ↂ no toxic 'wrinkle free' sheets & no linen service used, we do all ↂ no falling asleep to the smell and effects of bleached linens, dryer sheets, fabric softeners ↂ linens washed and dried in machines free of chemicals/synthetic scents ↂ chlorine filters on showers ↂ filtered water in fridge and ice-maker ↂ no synthetic scents ↂ no smoking ↂ pets considered - canines only

                                                              The cleanest rental I have ever stayed in! Michael and Cheryl have done a fabulous job of making sure you have everything you need! When we arrived, a fresh bowl of filtered water was waiting on my fur child (my dog, lol)! The dog bath in the garage was perfect for after a day at the beach. I am working on building one for my garage! We will definitely be back!!

We are a family that eats organic, sources our food responsibly and we use personal products without synthetic scents, so the alignment of this house’s requirements and our beliefs is consistent. We love that the owners take such care to ensure that the house is always spotless with attention to using essential oils and other natural means for both cleaning and miraculously effective pest control.

                                                              There’s so much we love about this home! First the open main level allows for conversation and gatherings. The upstairs bedrooms are spacious and have beautiful hardwood. The two screened porches with ceiling fans overlook the community garden, and one is pleasantly shaded. The garage is spacious and roomy, and the outdoor shower and dog tub are exceptionally useful for rinsing sand from Folly’s awesome beaches. All paper products are provided, which eliminates the need for either bringing your own or going to Target in West Ashley (or, God forbid, Wal Mart). We always stay two weeks, so we use the washer and dryer quite a bit, and we appreciate that the washer in this rental has no agitator, making it a noticeable improvement over rental machines that tend to beat up swimsuits. Cheryl and Michael also provide three bicycles, countless beach chairs, and the cleanest rental house I’ve ever been in. We have rented at four other locations on Folly, and this is far and away the best property we have occupied.

                                                              My husband and I along with our dog left Michigan to spend our winter here and absolutely LOVED it !!! Although we are not scent sensitive, we certainly appreciated the chemical-free cleanliness of this home. Cheryl and Michael have thought of everything to make this the kind of place that you want to keep coming back to or never leave! It's tastefully furnished, the kitchen has everything you could ever need, the bed in the master bedroom is to die for, the drafting table in the front room was perfect for putting together puzzles, it's fully stocked with all paper products, soaps and laundry detergent, there's a garage with bicycles, beach chairs, grill, and best of all, a dog bath! Cheryl & Michael covered two of the couches with dog covers and even welcomed our dog with a full bowl of filtered water upon our arrival! The location couldn't be more perfect either--close enough to walk to Center street and the beach that you never need your car unless you're heading elsewhere. Cheryl & Michael truly make you feel welcome and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need to make your stay a memorable one. If you decide to stay here while visiting Folly, I guarantee this would be the Best. Decision. Ever!!!!

                                                              Fabulous, clean, and refreshing getaway!

                                                              With a focus on a chemically free environment to accommodate people with sensitivities, Micheal and Cheryl have created a cozy, spotlessly clean haven with countless amenities and thoughtful touches to make your stay feel like home! Although we have no allergy issues, the care devoted to providing all our needs was "over the top". Our dog was recovering from a snakebite, so Cheryl had filtered water,, rug pads on steps, orvis blankets to cover furniture and a dream dog spa in the garage for our pet's comfort. The kitchen is fully furnished with every need from blender to coffee press to shrimp de-veiners. The tempurpedic mattress in the Master was so comfortable and to awaken with a cup of coffee in the screened balcony, listen to music through the BOSE system, or do computer work on the big draft table was great! They provided 3 bikes, beach chairs and boogie boards with an easy walk to the beach. Although the check in process had paperwork with the commitment to honor chemically free living, I was grateful that they took such diligence in providing that environment. Truly stewards of the earth and love for health! We will be back to their wonderful CLEAN retreat! Denise and Tim Pastoor

                                                              Folly was always the bohemian destination, some of us were lucky enough to live front beach while it was still a sleepy artist community. Much has changed over the years but Folly holds true to its laid back attitude. Though we admit as things have evolved, we prefer a location a bit back from the activity of front beach especially in the summer months. It's a peaceful location and convenient to historic Charleston which is only 10 miles away. Folly has 6 wonderful miles of beach to walk, especially nice in winter, and is one of the best surfing areas on the east coast. If you're into kayaks the back side of the island is a wonderful place to explore with ample peaceful waters to quietly escape into and observe the native creatures. It's a wonderful place for birding, watching the dolphin feed at sunset, and if you're lucky you may even see a manatee. Bring your kayaks, the public boat landing is just 2 blocks away and there is plenty of room in the garage to store your gear. Other Activities: boating, kayaking, shopping
